Utah st is going to run the ball more and when they pass it they avg 7 yds per attempt. I can see Utah St running the ball then when BYU comes up to stop it they get stung with steady pass plays. When I look into a game I look at 4 stats.
1. rush attempts per game
2. pass yds per attempt
3. 3rd down conversion percentage
4. turnover ratio

if one team wins atleast 3 of the 4 categories they win 90% of the time. So I take that and look at all the dogs that win atleast 3. I use a +14 or under as a cutoff. It hits at a really nice rate. Here is the breakdown of the stats for this game

RU ATT GM P YDS ATT 3RD TO
BYU 31.80 4.8 32.8 -1

UT ST 42.3 7.0 40 0

You can see Utah st won all 4 categories and most are not even close. Resulting in a Utah St win I believe straight up.

One other intangible I like is they are at home on a thur/fri night. More than not the home teams play at a higher level on these nights. And don't forget that Utah St has one hell of a qb this year!

To help a little more on this info. If you look at my post from last sat I had Toledo +11.5 and California +7.5. I stated they both would win straight up. Well Toledo won by 11 and California missed a fg with 2 min to go to seal the win and lost 10-9. There are two more games I really like this weekend according to this system and its army and Miami Ohio. I will post these closer to sat
