he said he was following trends.......you have an opinion on trends in the stock market?

Save your money. What they are talking about is following the current trend in the market..so long when the market is up and short when it is down.
What they are going to sell you is a system that shows you things like moving averages, technical indicators, patterns, charting etc.
Rather than paying someone for a service or system you can take a few hours and read up on technical analysis and how to use moving averages.
But for people who dont have the time or the inclination, such software programs can be just fine.
The best advice I can give is to plan your exit before you enter a trade..both on the upside and downside.
And you can ask any questions about a stock and if people here know we will offer our opinions.
