I usually don't wager until it's close to game time, but this total skews so far from my expected range, I have.
I 'capped Fresno State/Mississippi somewhere in the neighborhood of 44-46 as a total. At 54, I love this under.
Mississippi is having a very difficult time throwing the ball. For his hype, Masoli has proven only to be an effective running QB this season, having thrown 1 TD and 4 INTs against very mediocre opponents. On the season Mississippi has called run plays at a 2 to 1 clip, and they will keep the ball on the ground against a Fresno team that has given up only 2 passing TDs in 2 games.
Fresno State had a great deal of success throwing in the their opener against Cincinnati, but the Bearcats secondary is a mess this year, having just surrendered 333 yards to NCState. Even with that success, Fresno has rushed the ball more than 60% of the time, and like Ole Miss, I expect them to keep the ball on the ground in this one.
While running games can point up plenty of points also, I think Fresno State will have a difficult time with their offense in this spot, and I just don't believe that Ole Miss is very explosive. I think FrState will stack the box, and force Masoli to throw to beat them. I don't think he will light them up.
Again, I would be intrigued with the UNDER at 46, but at 54, I am absolutely pounding it.
FresnoState/Mississippi UNDER 54 large
Good luck all.
