Monday
A Brutal day Sunday. First i lose a WNBA game when Phoenix blows a 8 point lead at home with 5 minutes left, losing on a 3 point shot with 2 seconds left. I can handle that but the Hail Mary thrown by ECU was just a dagger. I'm sitting here with 5 seconds left and ECU has a 4th & 10 on the Tulsa 35 yard line. One play left and they need a TD. Just hang out it the end zone and knock it down right? The guy scrambles and tosses up a balloon and it looked like the only player on the field was the receiver who caught the ball for a TD. Absolutely amazing, shocking and unbelieveable really. A (3-0) +15 Unit day in CFB turns in to a (1-2) -8 Unit day just like that on a prayer! UGGHHH .......
5* Boise St Pk (8:05 PM)
I'm not buying in to the hype about all the pressure on Boise because of playing a big school in Tech, or being on the road, or the heat, or the cross country trip. Look, this team returns more starters than any other school in the entire country with 23 of 24 starters coming back. They have all 11 back on offense, 10 back on defense and both kickers back. The only loss was a big one in Kyle Wilson but i think they'll be fine and there is a TON of talent still here. This team won't feel the heat because it is a night game and Tech may have the fan support but it is a NFL Stadium, not the one on the Tech campus that only one team is familiar with. As far as pressure goes, they did just fine in the Fiesta Bowl as Dogs last year when trying to secure the perfect season. I'm not worried about pressure. Tech returns only 5 on defense and overall they return the least amount of players of any team in the ACC. I keep hearing about how Boise hasn't faced a team or defense like this ...... BLAH, BLAH, BLAH! TCU had a DAMN good defense in that Fiesta Bowl last year and Boise beat them by 7, playing even better defense themselves. Let me ask you this. When was the last time Tech faced an offense as potent as Boise St? Last year? The year before?? Three years ago??? Not even close. You can look it up but i already did. You could easily argue that Boise faced two better offense's last year in TCU & Oregon than Va Tech did all season and they handled both pretty well with their own stout defense. Kellen Moore is (26-1) as a starter and Boise St is (13-1) SU and (11-3) Ats the last 2 seasons away from home. Boise St 27 Va Tech 20
4* "7 PT." Teaser = Navy (+.5) - Boise St (+7) ---> -130 (4 & 8 PM)
Read above for Boise. Navy returns 8 on offense including the record setting Dobbs at QB. Maryland returns 7 on offense and they will be handing the ball over to a new starter at QB. Navy had 10 wins last season and Maryland had 10 losses. The Fridge is no doubt on the hot seat this season and facing probably the most discipline team in the country isn't exactly a tasty menu for Ralphie here. Dobbs and his talented trio of tailbacks will pound the rock 55-65 times against this terps defense and Maryland was only 55th best against the run last season giving up 140 ypg on the ground. Teams like Buffalo, Arkansas St and Marshall were better than them stopping the run. Navy? They just finished 3rd in the country at 283.5 ypg on the ground. Look for the Midshipmen to wear down the Terps today. Navy 31 Maryland 23
4* "7 PT." Teaser = "OVER" (41.5) Navy/Mary - Boise St (+7) ---> -130
