  • Wrong team favored - big NCAAF play

Big conference teams get the respect of average gamblers, and so, by proxy, they must also get the respect of oddsmakers.

Middle Tennessee State might be a lowly Sun Belt team, but they are the best team in that minor conference, and they have one of the top 5 QBs in the country. Yes, they will be playing a Big 10 school, but Minnesota is likely to finish at the bottom of their conference, and they are a notoriously bad road team.

Dwight Dasher threw for over 2500 yards and ran for over 1000 yards last season, but never got the chance to shine in a national spotlight. Tonight he gets to do that, at home, against a "major" conference opponent, and where MTSU has everything to gain from this, Minnesota looks like a reminder of why it is so difficult to get major programs to sign on for a game like this.

Minnesota was a 6-7 team last year, and most projections have them finishing worse this season. Middle Tenn is a defending conference champion who lost only one home game last year, and were victorious in a bowl game.

Minnesota is the favorite here because the squares think they ought to be. They shouldn't.

    MidTennSt +1 BIG

    Good luck all.

Hate to tell you this but Dasher isn't playing tonight. That's why Minny is favored. Better do your homework before posting

Thanks for the headsup. Unfortunately made a 1stH play, but held out on making the game play. Yes, this was a poor oversight on my part -- i've clearly not rounded into midseason form. I had eyed this game a week or so ago, but not stayed up on my Sun Belt gossip. Point taken, and hope I didn't lead anybody down a misguided path.
