I've had a very forgettable NBA season with only my top plays doing well. But my longterm record here on BC with Games of the Year is outstanding and I have only one per year and one per post-season and sometimes none at all. I am not someone to hype my plays. I feel very strongly about my key play.
3* Playoff Game of the Year Celtics/Lakers OVER 186
The Lakers haven't had a total this low in ages. The number is an overreaction to the last several games. Let's remember, the first two games of this series went over and did so at higher numbers. Boston's shooting percentage Tuesday was its lowest of the year and teams tend to rebound big off of bad shooting nights. The Lakers this season average 199 points in their games and the Celtics 193. While playoff games tend to be lower scoring because of the aggressive defense, this number is ten points below the teams' average total score. That's nuts. While I tend to be a streak player and the under has won four times in a row, in this case I believe the books have over-adjusted. Both teams are filled with big time scorers. Both have players who tend to step up big in major situations. OVER.
1* Celtics +7
I was planning to make this a much bigger play but Boston's putrid performance in game six has frightened me. Further, longtime systems give an overwhelming edge to the favorite in game sevens in the NBA. On the other hand, Boston has bounced back with its best performances this post-season off a loss and.....check this one out: the Lakers are 2-9 ATS after allowing 85 or less. While both teams will obviously play as hard as possible, it is certainly conceivable the Lakers are mentally taking this game for granted after winning the must game Tuesday. This might be a very close game. Seven points is nothing to sneeze at.
