NBA FREEBIE: MEMPHIS You wouldn’t think a team like the Grizzlies would have anything to be positive about but this team set a franchise record in December with 7 wins. Even better they’ve won 6 of their last 7 at the Pyramid and have gone a respectable 9-9 SU since their 0-13 start. Tonight they find themselves in the unfamiliar role of a minus in front of the line but have found even that situation a little more comfortable winning 3 straight as chalk. They come into this one well rested as they haven’t played since 2002 and catch a Clippers team that fell behind early in Dallas and scratched out a cover by a point. They had to expend a good amount of energy doing so as Lamar Odom was quoted as saying "Sometimes when you overexert yourself trying to come back, you run out of gas and time," Odom said. "We ran out of gas."

It seems like the whole world is just expecting Miami to cruise against another overmatched opponent. Well, I won't be persuaded so easily. OK, I'm convinced, even though the Buckeyes should put up a decent fight for a short time. Miami 34, Ohio State 17.

FOOTBALL FORECASTERS
Ohio State + Both teams survived some close games to go undefeated - they were both equally lucky you might say. This should be a great National Championship contest to watch. We performed 3 scorecast projections of this game, overall stats, final month stats, and a total yardage model -- all three scorecast models project the Buckeyes to cover this large number, with one model projecting a 1 point Buckeye victory. Miami had their toughest games against teams that were able to run on them. OSU is just that type of team, and they have a now healthy RB Maurice Clarett back in the line-up. OSU QB Craig Krenzel doesn't make mistakes with the ball. Miami is used to dominating opponents and it will be interesting to see how they react to the type of game OSU will bring to the table. The Buckeyes, installed as a large dog, will be focused for this game. They have very good special teams, which combined with their great defense, should make for a great championship contest. Both Al and I like the unit to unit match-ups here and think this one has good potential for an upset.
