  • Large MLB play

I am playing MLB only sporadically, as I have found that day-to-day play gives way to attrition. But I can't pass up this matchup at odds that (to me) are surprisingly small.

Brian Tallett of Toronto hasn't pitched in almost 7 weeks due to a strained forearm. When he did pitch this season, he amassed a 6.11 ERA. In his career, he has a 6.03 ERA against Tampa Bay, who has hit .333 against him as a team.

    That includes:
Carl Crawford 7/15 and a walk
BJ Upton 4/9 and 3 walks
Ben Zobrist 5/11 with a HR
Evan Longoria 4/9 and a walk
Jason Bartlett 3/7 and a walk
    Dioner Navarro 6/15

In other words, nearly every important spot in this lineup has hit Tallett very well, and that was when he was healthy.

At -145, I think TB is a steal here, especially as a team with an amazing 19-6 road record. I will also be playing them at EVEN odds on the -1.5, as this has the look and feel of an ugly start after a long layoff for a pitcher who was overmatched by the Rays to begin with. Other injuries have forced Tallett back into the mix in this spot, and I think he could be gone early. If he is, the Jays shaky middle relief should be all TB needs to even this series.

    Good luck.
    Tampa Bay -145
    Tampa Bay -1.5 EVEN large

Never a doubt with the Rays. Too bad they couldn't hold that Runline.
