    Saturday's six-pack

-- Corey Pavin is US Ryder Cup captain this year; he may have tough decision, whether to take Eldrick Woods or not. TV will want him to be playing, but what if his game doesn't improve? Then what?

-- Steve Nash had 29 points, 11 assists with only two turnovers while playing with a broken nose Thursday night.

-- Hard to believe Michigan is 8-16 in football the last two years. Quick prediction: this time next year, Les Miles is Michigan's football coach.

-- Manny Ramirez hit his first career HR at Coors Field Friday. Crowd was over 40,000 at Coors Field, with a walkup sale of over 9,000.

-- Washington @ Pittsburgh is the NHL's outdoor game next winter.

-- Miguel Cabrera hit three HRs for Detroit Friday, but Tigers still lost 5-4 to the gritty, spunky A's, who are now 26-23.

Saturday's List of 13: Random stuff for the holiday weekend.......

    13) Albert Pujols has five RBI in his last two games, after going 11 games without an RBI; Cardinals are 12-4 if he has an RBI, 14-17 if he doesn't.

    12) Rangers still owe Alex Rodriguez $25M, Kevin Millwood $13M and Mickey Tettleton $1.4M. Tettleton retired 13 years ago!!!! Small wonder they went broke. All that money and no World Series. Not good.

    11) So New Jersey gets the Super Bowl in 2014; the announcement gets made and WFAN's Mike Francesa has a guest, New York governor David Paterson. Why? The game is in New Jersey-- where's the governor of that state? Why not interview the governors of Connecticut, Pennsylvania? I could see having NYC mayor Bloomberg, but a lameduck governor? Nah.

    10) Reds are 56-27 with Scott Rolen in lineup, 6-20 when he's sat out, as Cincinnati won again Friday against the hapless Astros. Acquiring Rolen has been a stroke of genius by Walt Jocketty.

    9) In fairness, this will be just the fourth losing season in last 18 years for Houston, but hard to envision another winning season in near future.

    8) Hitters bat .256 the first time thru the lineup against Yovani Gallardo, .135 the second time, around .300 the third time.

    7) SI.com's Joe Posnanski, a fine writer, points out that Rogers Hornsby is the only middle infielder in baseball history to get 1,000+ hits after he turned 35 years old (1,120). Craig Biggio is next on list, with 911.

    6) Cleveland is Russell Branyan's ninth team in 13 big league seasons; he had seasons of 20-24 homers back in 2001-2, then floundered until he hit 31 homers for Seattle LY, but they let him walk. Unusual career.

    5) Milton Bradley has played more than 126 games in one season, 2004, when he hit .267 with 19 homers for the Dodgers. He doesn't play a lot, for one reason or another. More trouble than he's worth.

    4) Giants are blocking A's from moving to San Jose. Wonder if they can block them from moving to San Antonio, the Carolinas or Portland?

    3) Big win for Phillies Friday, holding off Florida 3-2. They're still in an offensive funk, but getting a win there lightens the load somewhat.

    2) Corey Hart snapped the Mets' pitchers' scoreless streak with walkoff homer in 9th, as Milwaukee won a 2-0 pitcher's duel at Miller Park.

    1) If the owners get together to discuss free agents, its illegal-- collusion. So is it legal for DWade, Lebron, Bosh and Joe Johnson to get together to discuss their options? And even if it isn't, why would they make such a meeting public knowledge? Sounds like agents at work.
