As if the this Derby wasn't hard enough to handicap before now you have to factor in a monsoon. Mud is the great equalizer in a horse race. National Weather Service is calling for a 70% chance of rain between 4:00-7:00 today so ya gotta figure the track is gonna be sloppy at best.
I think this is the most wide open Derby in many a years. FWIW here is who I got
$50 across on #14 Mission Impazible. Horse has shown the ability to run close to the leader or come from well back. He hasn't won in the slop but has a second and third while running in the mud. Was very impressed in his Louisiana Derby win. He had the fastest final furlong of all the Derby horses who have run in a 11/8mi. race this year.
Will be playing these horses in some kind of combination in the exotics along with MI.
