1. Quick Hits

The U.S. men's hockey team moved into the semifinals tomorrow against Finland after shutting out Switzerland 2-0.
The other semifinal features Canada against Slovakia.
The U.S. women's hockey team will face Canada this evening for the gold medal.
It's unfair to pick on baseball players. The NFL Players Association hasn't exactly embraced HGH testing either.
Fan favorite, New England Patriots special teams star Mosi Tatupu, is dead at the age of 54.

2. The Captain

Derek Jeter said to reporters yesterday, he's saying nothing the rest of the season. His contract is expiring, but he's not interested in talking about it. He's also not interested in becoming a free agent, or playing for another team. Once a Yankee, always a Yankee. That's the way it was for Lou, The Mick, Yogi and Joe D. In this era of "free agent ants in your pants," refreshing, eh?

3. Good Question

A FanHouse columnist is wondering why Tiger Woods hasn't been suspended by the PGA for "conduct detrimental to the Tour?" Scores of golfers have been suspended for doing far less in casting the tour in a bad light. Sure, Tiger is their meal ticket, but what's fair is fair. Golfer Mac O'Grady once called the Tour "A totalitarian, authoritarian system." It earned him a 6 week suspension. By comparison, Tiger should go up the river for years.

4. The Olympic Spirit

Yesterday's Top 5 story about Scores suggesting that pole dancing become an Olympic sport brought out the best (or worst) in you. Subscriber Steve D. submits the following. "After seeing the new winter sports such as snow cross and whatever they call the skiing relay race, how long are we from Olympic snow ball throwing or snow man building contests? Can you hear the commentary now? 'The Germans won the bronze in snowman building because they did not position the carrot correctly.' "

The other day I mentioned the Minnesota Timberwolves slashing ticket prices for next season. Now come the San Diego Padres. Here's their plan to bring fans back to the ballpark. Improve the team?
