  • Tiger Woods Prop Bets

This is pretty funny. Ireland based sportsbook Paddy Power is offering prop bets for the Tiger Woods "press conference" tomorrow. There are 3 basid catagories, cliches, crying and apologies. The cliche catagory iswhat TW will say in his opening statement. "I regret the hurt I have caused" is the odds on favorite at 7-2, followed by "I want to thank my family" at 5-1 and "a time to reflect" at 6-1. A couple of longshots that seem possible is "I love Elin very much at 33-1 and "sex addiction" at 66-1.

The number of times TW says the word sorry is as follows

    0 16-1
    one 5-2
    two 9-4
    three 7-2
    four 9-2
    five 5-1
    6 or more 7-2.

The final prop is will TW cry at some point, yes 5-2, no 1-4.

This "press" conference is a fucking joke. He should just tee it up and answer the questions with a no comment when they come.

Everybody knows what he did, they know he is sorry. The only thing fans want to know are: When are you going to play? and Are you getting a divorce?

I feel sorry for the invited press who are there as nothing more than props for this show. They are not allowed to ask any questions!!

Can't stand it when they say shit like, "you can't ask him any questions." bunch of primma donna's. Same shit goes on with actors and politicians. Then people wonder why the press hound them. This is a free country, stand there and answer the public like a man or get the fuck out of there....

Right on Kaz. Those props for journalists must feel like chumps standing there for the cameras.

My bet is you will get his Lawyer written statement and nothing more. He may announce his start date, thats about it.

The guy has made hundreds of millions with a god given talent so when he fucked up the way he did he should expect to answer questions.

It's really why people like him get hounded. I tell people I deal with all the time. If you try and hide shit and say things like I don't talk to the media, you look guilty as hell and that's when they turn into pitbuls.

Just come clean, or answer the questions truthfully. If you've done nothing wrong, you have nothing to worry about. The media smells blood when someone says, "no comment" or "you can't ask him any questions."

Always loved 60 minutes when some douchebag says shit like that and then they find a boatload of shit the guy did wrong. Mike Wallace and Co are no one to screw with....

Unfortunately, a lot of the media that is essential for a Democracy may be retiring soon. And that's not as good a thing that some would like to think. If people think there's corruption in politics now, just wait til there's no one to keep track of these idiots!

What's also fucked up is that Tiger or media whores like him; actors, politicians, et all, will say "don't ask me any questions," when they've fucked up, but they will be sucking on the media teet when they are on a book tour or any photo op/press op to promote something to help them make millions. And unfortunately, we cover them because in this country, people want to read about these numbnuts....

Kaz, your the media guy, dont you think the big media has done a shit job in digging for news instead of trying to create it?

When second rate outlets like TMZ and the National Enquirer break stories that the Big Media ignores or misses, sooner or later that shit will catch up to them.

Well, most of the media now days are owed by big companies and are traded publicly. They are afraid to offend anyone and report news because they've gotten such a black eye and negative publicity from people like Rush who has done a good job at convincing people that the media is evil. When they are gone, it'll be a sad sad day for this country. The media, as bad as they are portrayed, are the checks and balances that are needed for a Democracy. It's why they are protected by our Constitution.

They also know that the public wants to read shit about entertainers. There's no one that wants to read good journalistic stories anymore. Kids aren't taught to read, they're taught to play games and idolize sports and movie stars. That's why TMZ and Nat Enquirer have prospered.

I agree with the checks and balances. The education system has been a big failure. Kids are hardly ever failed or held back a grade like they were years ago. Teachers must be afraid of lawsuits for failing a kid, and the kid who disrupts class cant be disciplined either for the same reason. The kids get shuffled through the system, the buck is passed to the next teacher and you get what we have now.

Not much of a boycott, but at least it's a small stand....

The Golf Writers Association of America won't be at Tiger Wood's impending press conference. The GWAA had negotiated with Mr. Woods' camp to get the number of non-wire reporters double from three to six, but with 950 members, that didn't help them all that much.

"To limit the ability of journalists to attend, listen, see and question Woods goes against the grain of everything we believe," the group's president, Vartan Kupelian, told CBS News.

Of course, the boycott shouldn't much affect the ability of any GWAA members to actually report the event, since Mr. Wood's isn't taking questions, and the so-called press conference--or "press conference penitent spoken-word performance," as David Carr called it--will be broadcast all over the internet anyway.
