San Antonio Spurs at Denver Nuggets [TNT | 10:30 PM ET]

Spurs: As poorly as it seems this 1st half of the season has gone for the Spurs, they are still 29-21 SU, sitting in 7th place in the Western Conference playoff chase. San Antonio has revenge on their mind, as they have lost both contests SU to the Nuggets this year season. Even worse, both contests came in San Antonio. The Spurs have a losing record on the road this season, 10-11 SU and 9-12 ATS. The Spurs are 4-6 ATS as the listed underdog this season. The trio of F Richard Jefferson, G Manu Ginobli, and PG Tony Parker have struggled on offense, with all 3 players having career low scoring averages this season. Defensively, the Spurs are allowing teams to shoot 45.6% from the field, their worst percentage since 1997.

Spurs are 2-11 ATS last 13 road games vs. a team with a home winning percentage greater than .600.
Under is 7-0 last 7 road games vs. a team with a home winning percentage greater than .600.

The Nuggets are 23-4 SU and 14-12-1 ATS at home this season. Denver is 9-5-1 ATS as a single digit home favorite this season. Today represents the final game before the All-Star break, so the Nuggets will be looking to keep their momentum going with F Carmelo Anthony back on the court. Anthony missed 8 games recently, but still is 3rd in the NBA in scoring with 29.5 PPG. Anthony has struggled against the Spurs in his career, only averaging 20 PPG, his lowest average against any Western Conference team. Denver averages 107.5 PPG, the 2nd highest scoring team in the NBA. Denver averages 24.5 made free throws per game, easily the most of any team in the NBA.

Nuggets are 6-15-1 ATS last 22 games as a favorite.
Under is 20-6 last 26 vs. a team with a winning SU record.

-- Biggest profit Nevada sportsbooks saw in last 10 Super Bowls was the $15.9M they took in from Patriot-Eagle game in 2005.

Thursday's List of 13: Wrapping up a Wednesday of college hoop

                    13) North Carolina lost seven of its last eight games, four in row at home, as they lost to Duke in Deandome Wednesday. At 13-11, Tar Heels aren't even home free for the NIT yet.

                    12) UConn played its heart out, but lost 72-67 at Syracuse. They're also going to be hosting a first round NIT game.

                    11) Billy Donovan has won two national titles, but has never been SEC Coach of the Year.

                    10) Donovan's Gators shot 56% from floor, but were -14 in turnovers and lost 77-71 at South Carolina. Florida was just 10-23 from foul line.

                    9) OK, so I'm looking forward to watching New Mexico-UNLV on CBS College Sports at 11, but the freakin' women's game they have before it goes double OT. Wonderful, just terrific.

                    8) LSU lost by 35 at Arkansas; its stunning how bad the Tigers are- they fell behind 12-0 right out of the gate; in their last four games, they scored a total of 69 first half points in 80 minutes.

                    7) Say goodbye to Northwestern, which got hammered at Iowa in kind of game they need to win to make NCAAs; they've only won one road game in conference play. They would be a good story, but they need wins.

                    6) Richmond shot 58% from floor and got a terrific 69-67 win at Rhode Island; Atlantic 14 is most underexposed league in country- they should fire the commissioner, whoever it is, and get themselves on TV more.

                    5) Kent State crushed what bad been a hot Ball State team 76-43; Golden Flashes are establishing themselves as the best team in the MAC.

                    4) Idaho has a kid who wears his air like Coolidge in The White Shadow, and another kid who looks like Salami; Vandals have gotten better under coach Verlin, former Utah St. assistant.

                    3) ESPN shows Times Square when they do games from MSG, when in Las Vegas, they show the Strip, in LA, they show Santa Monica Pier, in Memphis, they show Beale Street. On nights they broadcast from Idaho, they show guys fishing in a stream. Wearing hip waders.

                    2) I enjoy listening to Adrian Branch on ESPNU; he's good natured, and comes across with good knowledge at times. Branch was terrific player at Maryland and played 130 games over four years in the NBA.

                    1) Plenty of good action out west; Nevada scored with 0:02.6 left to win at Idaho; New Mexico went up 18 at UNLV and held on to beat Rebels by 10. Pacific got upset at Cal-Davis, Baylor escaped at Nebraska.

                      Len's Top 5

Happy Thursday everyone, here's my Top 5 for February 11, 2010 from Len Berman.

                      1. Quick Hits

LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, and Dwyane Wade will all return to the U.S. Olympic basketball team. Good thing. You can never have too much firepower when you take on that pesky Iranian basketball team.
Another old time New York Knick has passed away. 82-year old Carl Braun.
Great rivalry. Duke beats North Carolina 64-54.
The Braves make a pitch for former Yankee Johnny Damon.
The Washington Nationals are hot for former Yankee pitcher Chien-Ming Wang.
The Washington Capitals finally lost a hockey game, 6-5 in OT to Montreal, after winning a team record 14 straight.
Dog killing quarterback Michael Vick admits he didn't give 100% when he played for the Atlanta Falcons. What a guy.

                      2. Celebrate Good Times, Come On

It's always a fascinating study to see how cities celebrate championships.
New Orleans police were happy. In all the jubilation hey "only had" a triple shooting and a stabbing and nobody died. Cities like L.A. and Montreal have burned cars and trashed store windows to show how happy they were that their teams won. I always hark back to June 14, 1994. The Rangers won their first Stanley Cup in 54 years and there was no violence and no arrests in New York City. Maybe fans were too stunned to react!

                      3. What's The Point?

I've never been in favor of the pros playing in the Olympics. Do we really care when the Dream Team demolishes Angola in basketball? And in hockey, who needs the NHL stars? Just about none of them will march in the Opening Ceremony tomorrow night. They all have NHL games to play. Isn't the pomp and circumstance part of the Olympic experience? The U.S. Olympic hockey team will practice exactly once before the hockey tournament begins. Contrast that with the Miracle on Ice team in 1980 and their legendary practices. NHL players may help market the sport internationally, but we will never again see a Miracle on Ice. For me, that diminishes the Olympics.

                      4. Up Close And Personal

One of the biggest American stars at the Vancouver Olympics will be skier Lindsey Vonn. Any other time of year, wins and losses would be all that matter. But it turns out she has a bruised shin and she is not sure she can go. If and when she steps into the starting gate keep in mind she's estranged from her father who introduced her to the sport. Cue the music.

                      5. Snow Day

Many of us were cooped up yesterday so it was the perfect time for a sports poll. I asked on Facebook at "Len Berman's Top 5," what's the most boring sport? I had suggested cricket and America's Cup racing. Some of the responses I got were spelling bee, shuffleboard, marbles, skeet shooting and lumber jacking. Steve H. wrote, I know it's popular, but just when did poker become a 'sport? If I want to watch people play cards I can go to the clubhouse at any condo in S. Florida."
                      Thanks for playing along everyone.

Happy Birthday: Longest Yard actor Burt Reynolds (Hey it was a sports movie, OK?) 74.
Bonus Birthday: Actress Jennifer Aniston. 41.

Today in Sports: Buster Douglas shocks the boxing world by knocking out Mike Tyson to win the heavyweight title. 1990.
Bonus Event: Now they can start shooting a rugby film called Invictus. Nelson Mandela is freed after 27 years in prison. 1990.
