Georgetown Hoyas at Syracuse Orangemen [ESPN | 7:00 PM ET]

Hoyas: Georgetown enters tonight's contest ranked 12th in the country. The Hoyas are 15-3 SU and 8-6 ATS this season. Georgetown has won 4 of their past 5 games SU, with 3 opponents being nationally ranked at the time they played them. Their only loss during this stretch came at Villanova by 5 PTS, in a game the Hoyas actually won ATS. Away from home, Georgetown is 6-2 SU and 5-2 ATS on the season. The Hoyas are both 1-2 SU and ATS as the listed underdog this season. A big reason for the Hoyas recent success against top level competition is their scoring surge, as they've scored more than 72 PTS in each of their past 5 contests. The Hoyas have 3 players averaging more than 15 PPG, led by G Austin Freeman and his 15.6 PPG. Future NBA Lottery pick C Gren Monroe also averages more than 15 PPG and 10 RPG for Georgetown. Defensively, the Hoyas only allow opponents to score an average of 61 PPG this season.

Hoyas are 7-19 ATS last 26 vs. Big East.
Over is 5-0 last 5 vs. Big East.

Key Injuries - F Nikita Mescheriakov (personal) is out.

                      PROJECTED SCORE: 67

Orangemen (-5.5, O/U 147): Syracuse has won 6 straight games SU since their lone loss of the season to Pittsburgh. Their last 3 games have been the most impressive, as they've beaten West Virginia, Notre Dame, and Marquette. Syracuse is 19-1 SU and 12-4 ATS on the season. The Orangemen are 12-1 SU and 5-4 ATS at home this year. Syracuse is 7-1 ATS as a single digit favorite or as the listed underdog this season. The Orangemen have had great success against Georgetown at home, as they've won 10 of the past 11 meetings SU. F Wesley Johnson is the leading scorer for the Orangmen, as he is averaging nearly 17.5 PPG while shooting better than 55% from the field. Johnson leads an offense that is very efficient, as Syracuse shoots a great percentage from the field and is a dominating rebounding team that averages more than 84 PPG.

Orangemen are 12-3 ATS last 15 vs. Big East.
Over is 7-0 last 7 games as a home favorite of up to 6.5 points.

PROJECTED SCORE: 78 (Side of the Day)

Missouri Tigers at Kansas Jayhawks [ESPN | 9:00 PM ET]

Tigers: It's been 11 years since Missouri won in Lawrence, Kansas but hope is not completely lost tonight. Missouri handed Kansas their 1st league loss last year, and they'll be looking to do exactly the same tonight. The Tigers are 15-4 SU and 8-5 ATS this season. The Tigers are only 2-4 SU and 2-3 ATS away from home this season. Today will be only the 2nd time this season that the Tigers will be the listed underdog. The Tigers lost their only other game as the underdog, both SU and ATS. Missouri is playing well this season thanks to a very deep, balanced team. The Tigers average more than 80 PPG this season, with 7 different players averaging at least 7.8 PPG. Guards Kim English and Marcus Denmon combine for 26 PPG for Missouri, including nearly 5 three pointers per game. Since league play began this year, Missouri ranks last in the Big 12 conference in field goal percentage thanks to 37% shooting.

Tigers are 6-15 ATS last 21 games as a road underdog.
Over is 6-2 last 8 road games.

                      Key Injuries - None.

Jayhawks (-12, O/U 148.5): Kansas is an impressive 18-1 SU this season, defeating their opposition by more than 23 PPG this season. Thanks to this domination, the Jayhawks are ranked 3rd in the nation. Kansas is 12-0 SU at home this season, and are looking to win their 54th consecutive SU win at home tonight. The Jayhawks are 5-4 ATS at home this season, with each game coming as a double digit favorite. This -12 number today is the smallest the Jayhawks have been favored by at home this season. The Jayhawks are 3-4-1 ATS as a favorite of less than 20 PTS this season. 4 different Jayhawks average more than 11 PPG, led by All American G Sherron Collins and his 16 PPG. Freshman G Xavier Henry is the 2nd leading scorer for Kansas, as he averages better than 14 PPG on the season. Henry and Collins combine to make more than for 3-pointers per game for the Jayhwaks.

Jayhawks are 10-1 ATS last 11 Monday games.
Under is 11-1 last 12 home games vs. a team with a losing road record.

                      Key Injuries - None.

PROJECTED SCORE: 77 (UNDER - Total of the Day)

                        Len's Top 5

Happy Monday everyone, here's my Top 5 for January 25, 2010 from Len Berman.

                        1. Quick Hits

It'll be Indianapolis and New Orleans in Super Bowl XLIV February 7th in Miami.
The Colts have been installed as 4 point favorites.
With the Vikings losing, we are immediately subjected to speculation over the future of Brett Favre. Will his career end with that costly interception?
It was a swell day all around for New York sports fans. The Knicks suffered their worst ever home loss, losing to Dallas 128-78.
Kelly Kulick becomes the first woman to win a pro bowling title, beating the boys in Vegas.
A-Rod does schtick. After receiving the Postseason MVP Award from the New York baseball writers, he said "what's next, the good guy award?"

                        2. The Saints Go Marching In

How can you not root for the Saints? The city of New Orleans was nearly wiped off the map. Their football team has been mostly dismal since coming into the NFL in 1967. And they have now made it to their first ever Super Bowl. Maybe they are truly America's team. Having said that, they beat Minnesota last night in overtime without the Vikings touching the ball in OT. There has never been an overtime in the Super Bowl. Do we really want the championship decided in a similar fashion, with only one team having a chance on offense?

                        3. Half A Loaf

The Jets have been in 4 AFC (AFL) Championship Games. They've led 3 of them at halftime. And we know how that has worked out. Again yesterday, the Jets were 30 minutes away from the Super Bowl, and again they couldn't hold on. After leading 17-6 they got shutout the rest of the way. It's easy to say the Jets will be back, but the last time it took them 11 years. You never know in sports. Just ask former Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino. He played in a Super Bowl in just his second season. He never made it back.

                        4. Buy Now!

Some Jets fans were concerned over all the perceived jinxes last week. Mark Sanchez on the cover of Sports Illustrated. The Jets selling AFC Championship merchandise as if they had already won. Was it a case of "premature exhilaration?" Remember the 2003 baseball playoffs? The Red Sox painted World Series logos on the field at Fenway. And then a guy named Aaron Boone screwed it all up. It turns out the Colts also offered AFC Championship merchandise last week. Maybe teams should start offering that stuff before the season begins. It's never too early to have your loyal fans part with their hard earned cash.

                        5. Changing Uniforms

Grant Desme made an interesting career choice. He is one of the top outfield prospects in the Oakland A's organization, but unlike most of today's athletes he's taking a massive voluntary pay cut. He's entering the priesthood. Instead of stepping up to the plate, he'll pass it around.

Happy Birthday: Jets Hall of Fame wide receiver Don Maynard. 75.
Bonus Birthday: Singer Alicia Keys. 29.

Today in Sports: Quarterback Phil Simms' nearly perfect game. The Giants win Super Bowl XXI, beating the Denver Broncos 39-20. 1987.
Bonus Event: The Beatles I Want to Hold Your Hand becomes their first #1 hit in the U.S. 1964
