      Thanks Memphis!

      G. L. to you also!

      bennojd (John)

p.s.>maybe when your puppies grow up I can see some of them run at Dairyland (Lake Geneva or Kenosha)??
I've been to Lake Geneva (it's actually Delavan.......my Gram had a summer cottage there) but I have never been to Kenosha.

        Strange :

as it may sound , I have many grown dogs about 90 at last count and I do run at Dairyland on occasion John . I mainly do the Fla. circut and the northeast ( Wheeling , Raynham , Seabrook , and Tri-State ) . You have to let me know next time you plan a visit as I live in Fontana on the west-end of the lake (10 minutes from the track) in Delavan.

G.L. with your shots tonight as I like them also !

          Memphis

Wow........90 dogs, that is something....... holy greyhound!!
I will definitely let you know if I am heading up your way.

I always thought the drive from Walworth into Fontana On Rte. 11? was very beautiful and scenic.........sometimes I have taken that way after getting off I-90 and going through Marengo, Harvard and Big Foot, Illinois across the state line into Walworth and then Fontana. A couple times I stopped at that little bar and grill across from Charlie O's in Williams Bay......cool place but I forget the name of it.

I still remember the dog track being built in Delavan on North Shore Drive and Rte. 50........that was a corn field for as long as I can remember.........my Grandparents bought a cottage in the 50's........the cottage was in Assembly Park; Delavan Lake, Wi. (sadly we don't have it anymore).........I went up there every year since I was a baby up until about 10 years ago when we sold it..........Assembly Park is about a mile south of 50 on North Shore Drive.........the dog track is in walking distance..........I visited the track a few times and enjoyed the dog races even more than the ponies.

Anyway, the last time I drove thru Delavan..........it has really changed..........quite a few stores including a Super Walmart and a giant Kohl's not to mention condos, etc. (a little too much development for my tastes). But I hear that Walworth County, Wisconsin is really hot real estate and one of the fastest growing regions in the nation..........small towns turning into suburbia is kind of sad!...........at least they cannot change Fontana too much since there is no room to do so.

Anyway, take care Memphis and have a nice weekend!
I just had a lot of nice memories writing this post!

              ?????

I hope this is the one you where refering to and that little bar across from Charlie-O`s would be Harpoon Willies , owned by Tony Davillia a friend of mine here and Charlie also serves some of the meanest french onion soup on the planet.

I do agree about the development getting out of hand here , I am not worried because I have over 94 acres outside of Fontana ( keep the dogs out of town ) and a good size lot and home right in town on the lake that I love .

Please do let me know if you can come up someday in advance and I will be happy to show you some chessehead hospitality and introduce you to some locals with names that you will recognize as soon as you shake thier hand. We could do a little visit to our tracks as you eluded too , and have some fun !!!

G.L. on your shots tonight as I am thinking about upping my New Mexico shot a few units , they clearly out man Portland across the board and the famous " Pit " is not a fun place to play anyway.

                Harpoon Willie's

You are correct, Memphis........Harpoon Willie's is the place I was thinking of..........that is a really cool bar!
Despite how the area has "built up" I always love heading up that way!..........it is what I truly consider "the country."
I appreciate your gracious offer and I'll let you know when I can get away from Chicago.
I already feel the wonderful "cheesehead hospitality" you speak of just by reading your last post in this thread!

Have a good day (or night)!

                Sincerely,
                John
