I am calling this play my game of the month (GOM). Bengals
-13' over the Chiefs.
Like this game for several reasons. First is the Chris Henry aftermath. In 2007 the Washington Redskins were faced with a similar situation when Sean Taylor was murdered in late November. The Redskins lost the first game they played a few days after his death to Buffalo 17-16, not unlike the Bengals losing to the Chargers this past weekend by a field goal. The Redskins as a team attended his funeral in Miami and then played the Bears the following week and won handily. In fact the Skins went on to win their last 4 games and made the playoffs as a wild card team before getting drilled by Seattle.
I am not saying the Bengals will win the Super Bowl but I think they will be really focused this weekend following Henry's funeral the other day. This is a home game for them and I won't be surprised if they have is girl friend, his kids and other family members in attendance at the game. I expect some type of tribute to him before the game. I think everyone will dedicate this game to Henry.
Secondly, the Bengals are only one game ahead of the Ravens for the Division title. If they lose their last 2 and Baltimore wins their last 2 then the Ravens win the Division, and who knows if the Bengals would even make the playoffs as a wild card. The Bengals play the Jets in New York the last game of the season, so I am sure they are going to want to win this game so there will be no doubt about them making the playoffs. In addition by winning Sunday they will be able to rest their regulars the last game of the season.
Lastly the Chiefs stink and will surely be mailing it in the last 2 weeks of the season. Bengals win 31-7. Good luck to everyone this weekend and Happy Holidays to everyone at BC.
