Boston Celtics at Washington Wizards [TNT | 8:00 PM ET]

Celtics (-7.5, O/U 193): Boston has won 8 straight games to make them 17-4 SU on the season, tied for the 2nd best record in the NBA. The Celtics are 9-1 SU away from home this year. They are also 6-4 ATS on the road this year, including winners of 4 straight. Boston is 4-1 ATS this year when favored by single digits on the road. Boston has all 5 starters averaging double digits, led by F Paul Pierce at 18.4 PPG. Kevin Garnett, Kendrick Perkins, and Rajon Rondo average double figures in points while shooting better than 50% from the field. It's no surprise then that the Celtics lead the NBA in shooting percentage at 49.8%, while averaging exactly 100 PPG. The Celtics also lead the NBA in points allowed, allowing only 90.5 PPG. 14 of the 21 opponents the Celtics have faced have scored 90 PTS or fewer.

Celtics are 4-0 ATS last 4 road games.
Under is 8-1 last 9 vs. NBA Southeast.

Key Injuries - F Glen Davis (thumb) is out.
G Marquis Daniels (wrist) is out.

PROJECTED SCORE: 97 (UNDER - Total of the Day)

Wizards: Washington is 7-12 SU, and 5-14 ATS on the season. Washington has really struggled at home as they are only 2-7 ATS. As poorly as they've played, this will be only the 3rd time all season the Wizards will be a home underdog. They are 1-1 ATS in this home underdog role. Washington finally has a healthy compliment of players, and that's led to this offense getting on track as they've scored 100 points or more in 3 of their past 4 games. Both G Gilbert Arenas and F Antawn Jamison average more than 20 PPG for Washington. 5 other players average 9 PPG or more for the Wizards. The Wizards play uninspiring defense at home, as they've allowed 6 teams to score 100 PTS or more against them. Washington is 1-8 in games they've trailed at the end of the first quarter.

Wizards are 3-8 ATS last 11 games as an underdog.
Under is 7-0 last 7 games as an underdog of 5 to 10.5 points.

Key Injuries - G Mike Miller (calf) is out.
G Mike James (hand) is out.

                    PROJECTED SCORE: 86

                      Len’s Top Five

                      Thursday, December 10

                      Len's Top 5

Happy Thursday everyone, here's my Top 5 for December 10, 2009, from Len Berman.

                      1. Quick Hits

Pitcher Andy Pettitte reups with the Yankees. 1 year, $11.75-million.

Word is the Red Sox are trading third baseman Mike Lowell to Texas.

Talk about longevity. The Philadelphia Eagles have signed Coach Andy Reid to a 3 year extension. At the end of the contract in 2013 he will have coached the Eagles for 15 seasons.

Forbes Magazine tabs the Los Angeles Lakers as the most valuable NBA team at $607-million.

California Congressman Joe Baca says forget about that legislation that he proposed to honor Tiger Woods with a Congressional Gold Medal. Good call Joe.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and his wife, model Gisele Bundchen, are the proud parents of a baby boy.

                      2. Damn Yankees

So the Yankees pick up an all star center fielder and Yankee haters the world over just roll their eyes. And the Yankees didn't even use their checkbook to just outright buy somebody. They did what other teams do. They "built up" their youngsters, talking up how much a part of the future they are. And when other teams bit, they pounced on a trade.
The truth is, with the gap so huge between the haves and the have nots in baseball, the Yankees are widening the gulf between the haves and the haves!

                      3. A Piece of the Action

So with all the talk about Tiger Woods' sponsors, bimbos, and future playing ability, what's in it for you and me? Well step right up and buy your Tiger Woods memorabilia. A collectible expert named Daryle Lambert told CNBC's Darren Rovell that "Tiger's stuff is only going to increase in value." What stuff? I guess he's talking about signed pictures, golf flags and other pieces of golf equipment. But in this "TMZ/tabloid" world, what will his driver's license go for? Old hotel room pass keys?

                      4. Crime and Punishment

Lets get this straight. You put on a sombrero and a poncho after you score a touchdown, as Chad Ochocinco of Cincinnati did, and it costs you a $30-thousand fine from the NFL. The same weekend you take a cheap shot at an opponent which could threaten his career, as Flozell Adams of Dallas did, and it costs you $50-thousand. This outrages subscriber Micah T. He writes that it's a terrible example for kids. "Do whatever you want, then just pay us $50,000 and all your troubles will go away."
Maybe a suspension here or there would be good, then in the skewed world of NFL fines, violence wouldn't be worth just $20-thousand more than clothing violations.

                      5. I've Got a Horse Right Here

Under the heading of ya' can't make this stuff up, there was a horse entered in the 6th race last Friday at Hollywood Park named Driveliketiger. But before the race the horse got scratched. There was no word on his exact injuries, and he wasn't talking. And no mares wielding golf clubs were seen in the vicinity.
And talk about comebacks. Driveliketiger finished in the money in the 2nd race yesterday. He placed third paying $2.60.
