Well i'm in the Beer business and a few years ago when my company was delivering to VFW Clubs on Veterans day, they flipped out and thought we were disrespecting their day by not taking the day off and honoring it. They threatened to kick us and our products out because we did not acknowledge it. That is when they decided to just make it a paid holiday and not fight that fight.

That is funny you just posted that, I was telling my boss that you were off today and he asked what you did. I told him I was pretty sure you were in the booze business and delivered to bars, restaurants, etc.. He said i cant see why they would be off for Veterans day.

Same here JC.I was thinking they would have some early Nba games today.I know on days like MLK they have some cause they know alot of people are off.Oh well,just have to wait till tonight.

Its called "Remembrance Day" here in Canada not "Veterans Day" as you guys have it. I work for a bank so luckily get it off with pay however most people have to work...

All the banks and Government offices are off but schools and everything else are open. 4 days off for Thanksgiving is right around the corner

The construction industry doesnt have much in the way of paid time off buddy. Been at my gig for 21 years, i get 2 weeks off and 6 paid holidays. Veterans day and MLK day are not in the 6, just the biggies like Thanksgiving, XMass, New Years, 4th of July, Labor Day, Memorial day, and one i am not remembering right now.

I have been here going on 10 years and at the 10th year we get 3 weeks vacation + 8 sick/personal days + the holidays you listed above.Not to bad I guess but being at the house right now would be nice
