The current total on this contest is 42. This may be an audition for Steve Bueurlein to be the starting Denver QB in 2003, and we look for him to have much success vs. an Arizona defense that is not nearly as good as it looked last week vs. the 49ers.
Keep in mind that San Francisco had absolutely no incentive last week, as they already knew that they had no chance at a Top 2 seed in the NFC. The Cardinals defense has been especially atrocious on the road this season, surrendering a robust 30.3 points per game! Also, this is a prime letdown spot for them after back-to-back national TV games. The last time they played on the road without being in the national spotlight, they allowed 49 points at Kansas City.
The Broncos have averaged 26.0 points in their 3 games vs. the NFC so far this year. The running of Rookie of the Year candidate Clinton Portis should be enough to keep an already weak Arizona defense off balance, making Bueurlein’s job that much easier. Denver generally open things up when they play outside of their own division anyway, as the OVER is now 36-18, 66.7% in their last 54 non-division affairs.

NFL FREEBIE: MINNESOTA NFL free selections are now 20-9-1 for the year. I know…the Vikings picked up their 1st road win since like the Bud Grant days at NO a couple weeks back and came back with the win against Miami last week. I’ll be honest; these guys have fooled me the last few weeks as they’ve actually showed some heart and covered 5 of their last 6. Maybe there was just too much pressure on them early in the season what with post-season expectations and all…yeah right. I don’t know what has made these guys start to play ball recently but Culpepper is running possessed as is RB Michael Bennett who is over 1200 YR for the year. The Lions “D” have allowed 120 or more yards rushing in 6 of 7 and the Vikes, with the exception of Atlanta, have held GB (twice), NE and Miami (Ricky of course) to 125 yards or less in the last 6 games with only the Packers topping 100
