VIRGINIA (5-4 SU/5-4 ATS) at MARYLAND (6-3 SU/3-5 ATS)
Virginia is off a bye week after losing at NC State two weeks ago in a 51-37 setback as -1 point road favorites. QB Matt Schaub led the Cavaliers in the loss, throwing for 393 yards and four scores on 41-of-55 passing. Wali Lundy rushed for a team-high 35 yards and also had seven receptions for 78 yards and three touchdowns. It was an offensive shootout with Virginia having deficits in total "O" (552-445) and first downs (24-20). Maryland is also off a bye week after pounding North Carolina two weeks ago in a 59-21 home win as -17½ point favorites. QB Scott McBrien completed 15-of-25 passes for 349 yards and four TD's and ran for two more to lead the Terps to their sixth straight win. Bruce Perry paced Maryland on the ground with 17 carries for 96 yards. It was a dominating effort by the Terps as they had edges in total "O" (612-359) and first downs (29-17). On offense, Virginia comes in ranked 59th in the land, averaging 383 ypg, while Maryland ranks 47th, averaging 391 ypg. On defense, the Cavs rank 73rd in the nation, allowing 388 ypg, while Maryland comes in with the 13th rated "D", allowing 297 ypg. Virginia comes in 8-15 ATS the last 23 meetings with the Terps and 1-7 ATS in their last road game of the season and 0-11 ATS in their last conference road game of the season. Maryland is 4-1 ATS the last 5 with the Cavs and 8-3 ATS in their last home game of the season. Maryland has also done well on Thursday Night’s; posting a 5-2 ATS mark and is 18-6 ATS as a favorite and 14-3 ATS in their last 17 home games. Has to be Maryland or nothing in this one.
