All plays 1-4*. Most will be 1*. 4* reserved for GOY. Opinions will not be counted in my record and are only small bets. Off a very succesful season last year and profitable for several years in a row in football. Let the games begin,,,,,,,,,
Thur:
1* North Texas +17
North Texas won only one game last year but the QB, Riley Dodge, the coach's son is redshirt fresman who would start right now in most programs. Ball State suffered major graduation losses and has a terrible coach. Ball's excellent coach the last few years now at SD State. North Texas will be a contender in the Sun Belt while Ball will drop to the bottom of the MAC.
Sat:
2* Texas A & M -14
Big play here. A & M has 10 returning starters on offense in the second year of Mike Sherman's program. New Mexico has a new and weaker coaching staff and suffered major graduation losses. A & M needs a big start to prepare for the brutal Big 12 and will relish the chance to roll against a lousy opponent. Blowout.
2* UTEP -7 1/2
Lots of returning starters for UTEP's high powered offense. UTEP, under Price, very strong at home. Buffalo was lucky to win the MAC last year and will revert to the bottom this year. UTEP could score 50 points here.
1* California -21
Cal is good enough to contend for the Pac-10 title. This might be Friedgen's worst team at Maryland. Terps always have a good defense but Cal's running game with Jahvid Best is close to unstoppable.
Opinions only:
Washington (much improved with better staff)
Michigan (Rodriguez makes statement against in-state foe)
Virginia Tech (Bama will need a few weeks with many new faeces)
Wisconsin (No Ill only has four defensive starters back; UW's John Clay is a Heisman contender at RB; almost made this a full play)
Monday:
1* Rutgers -6
Cincy has only one returning defensive starter! They will need a long time to get up to speed. Rutgers won its last five games in 08 and is a veteran team that can win the Big East. Home conference game to open season and excellent coaching staff will have them ready.
