      Len's Top 5

Happy Thursday everyone, here's my Top 5 for August 20, 2009 from Len Berman Sports.

      1. Quick Hits

Plaxico Burress is being arraigned this morning on weapons charges.

Remember Memphis' great 38-2 college basketball season in 2007-08? Forget it. The Memphis Commercial Appeal says all the wins will be vacated for NCAA violations.

Coach John Calipari sets a record. He also had his Final Four season stripped at U-Mass in 1996.

42-year old pitcher John Smoltz agrees to pitch for St. Louis.

If you're scoring at home, the Mets are now closer to last place than first.

Venus and Serena Williams will own a piece of the Miami Dolphins.
Can't wait for them to whip Bill Parcells into shape.

      2. Deja Vu

You've already seen the movie. Within hours of Brett Favre signing, the Vikings sold tons of tickets and Favre #4 Jerseys are flying off the shelves. That is so last year.... with the Jets. Two words. Fool's gold.

      3. He/She

Track star Caster Semenya of South Africa burst on the scene recently and is a real force in the 800 meters. She won the gold medal last night in Berlin at the world championships. Some are wondering if she is really a he? After all she has facial hair and a muscular build. A gender test has been performed, but the results take a long time. Just wondering if a strip search might be quicker?

      4. Close Your Eyes

Yankee manager Joe Girardi was a guest of Al Davis at an Oakland Raiders practice the other day. With the Raiders track record, Yankee fans are praying that Girardi forgot everything he saw.

      5. Lets Make a Deal

Hey wanna buy a ticket to a perfect game? So what if the game was already played. The White Sox are offering at full price the unsold tickets to Mark Buehrle's perfect game that he pitched last month against Tampa Bay. After you buy some, I've got some unsold Broadway show tickets to sell ya'.

Happy Birthday: Mr. Hairdo himself, Don King. 78.
Bonus Birthday: Stairway to Heaven co-writer Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin. 61.

Today in Sports: Yankee Manager Yogi Berra throws a fit on the team bus when infielder Phil Linz plays his harmonica. 1964.
Bonus Event: The Rolling Stones release "Satisfaction." 1965.
