    Daily Sports Roundup

    Monday, August 10

Today in the Daily Sports Roundup: The Tigers meet up with the Red Sox, the Mariners battle the White Sox, and the Fever look for a victory out in Los Angeles.

Colliding in the Junior Circuit . . .

Edwin Jackson (8-5, 2.62 ERA) will take on Brad Penny (7-6, 5.20 ERA) on Monday night as the Tigers begin a series against the Red Sox in Boston. Righthander Jackson hasn't given up more than three earned runs in a start since May 4, but the Tigers are just 5-5 in his last 10 starts. Righthander Penny was lit up for 12 earned runs over 11 innings in his last two outings against the Rays and Athletics. The BoSox are 1-6 in Penny's last seven trips to the mound.

Also on the American League schedule for Monday: Oakland at Baltimore, Toronto at the Yankees, Tampa Bay at the Angels, and the White Sox at Seattle. Gavin Floyd (9-6, 3.91 ERA) is slated to start for Chicago in that matchup; righthander Floyd beat the Angels last time out, allowing one earned run over eight innings of work. The Mariners will counter with Luke French (2-2, 3.93 ERA); the former Tiger lefthander knocked off the Royals in his most recent start.

Clashing in the Senior Circuit . . .

Johnny Cueto (8-9, 4.23 ERA) will be matched up against Kyle Lohse (4-7, 4.56 ERA) on Monday night when the Reds play in St. Louis. Righthander Cueto has lost each of his last three starts, allowing 15 earned runs over 16 2-3 innings of work against the Cubs (twice) and Padres. Righthander Lohse hasn't been able to break into the win column for the Cards since May 23, and the team is 1-9 in his last 10 outings. Lohse was pounded by the Mets in his last trip to the mound.

Elsewhere around the National League on Monday it'll be the Cubs at Colorado, the Mets at Arizona, the Dodgers at San Francisco, and Houston at Florida. Brian Moehler (7-7, 5.23 ERA) is the Astros' probable start for Monday; the righthander gave up six earned runs over six innings of work in a loss to the Giants in his last start. Rick VandenHurk (1-1, 4.29 ERA) will take the mound for the Marlins; the righthander last won July 20, and he was beaten by the lowly Nats last time out.

    Rounding out the Roundup . . .

Finally, there's one WNBA game on the schedule for Monday night, with Indiana at Los Angeles. The Sparks are coming off a 79-75 home win over Seattle on Thursday night, with Noelle Quinn leading the way with a game-high 23 points. Candace Parker added 18 points on the night, while Lisa Leslie had 15 points off the bench. That win moved middling Los Angeles to 7-11 straight-up and 8-10 against-the-spread on the year; they lost to Indiana 73-61 in their June meeting.

Monday's List of 13: Wrapping up the sports weekend......

      13) OK, so the first game of the NFL season started with a fake punt for a TD, and ended with that same punter taking an unnecessary safety on purpose on the last play that caused the pointspread to push. What else is new? Handicapping NFL games is one tough nut to crack (although no one should be wagering on NFL games in August, anyway).

      12) Felt bad for the son of ESPN's Chris Mortensen throwing an INT for a TD for the Titans, but why is he on their roster in the first place? He went to Arkansas, where he sat behind the immortal Casey Dick, so its almost like they were doing dad a favor giving the kid a tryout.

      11) Jordan Kent, whose dad Ernie is Oregon's basketball coach, is doing really well as a receiver in Seattle's training camp. Young Kent is 6-4 and a great athlete who spent some time playing for his dad's Ducks.

      10) Center Jamaal Jackson is only starter on Philly's offensive line who hasn't missed time due to injury already this summer. Not good.

      9) What jackass is advising Michael Crabtree? How does it help him not to play football? So he goes back into the draft next year; even if he got picked in the same slot in the draft, he will have been idle for a full year, and his skills will suffer. Young man needs a new agent. Now.

      8) Matt Holliday is hitting .466 for the Cardinals, with a .515 on-base percentage; the Mets never called Oakland to inquire about whether he was available, and for what. Seems to me, thats a fireable offense.

      7) Red Sox scored two runs in their last 33 innings. They're now tied for the Wild Card lead with Texas, and two games ahead of the Rays.

      6) The home team is 1-11 in Florida-Philadelphia games this season.

      5) Washington Nationals have won eight games in a row; time to take the interim GM tag off of Mr Rizzo's office door.

      4) This is the 50th anniversary of the AFL, so original franchises will be wearing throwback uniforms in honor of that; problem is, that means the Titans will be wearing Houston Oiler uniforms, the Jets will have New York Titan uniforms on when they meet in Week 3, and Kansas City is going to wear their old Dallas Texan uniforms.

So the Chiefs will wear Texan uniforms, Jets will wear Titan uniforms, Titans will wear Houston uniforms-- neither the Chiefs or Titans will be wearing Houston Texan uniforms. Got it???

      3) I'm going to miss not hearing John Madden on TV. Cris Collinsworth will do fine, I'm not saying that, but for a long time, Madden worked an awful lot of big NFL games-- his voice became part of an NFL season. He became a friend we invited into our living rooms-- he was the best.

      2) How cool is it that Hall of Fame lineman Randall McDaniel is now an elementary school teacher?

      1) That guy who wears red on Sunday is a damn good golfer.

        SCOREBOARD

        Monday, August 10

L.A. Dodgers at San Francisco (10:15 p.m. EDT). The Giants send Jonathan Sanchez (5-9) to the mound as they try to gain ground on the NL West rival Dodgers. Hiroki Kuroda (4-5) starts for Los Angeles on an extra days' rest.

        STARS

        Sunday

-Johnny Damon and Mark Teixeira, Yankees, hit consecutive homers in the eighth inning to lead New York to a 5-2 victory and a four-game sweep of the Boston Red Sox.

-Skip Schumaker, Cardinals, hit his first career pinch-hit home run to start a five-run eighth-inning rally for St. Louis in a 7-3 win over Pittsburgh.

-Wandy Rodriguez and Geoff Blum, Astros. Rodriguez pitched seven shutout innings and Blum hit a two-run homer in Houston's 2-0 win over Milwaukee.

-Bobby Crosby, Athletics, homered twice, lifting Oakland to a 6-3 win over Kansas City.

-Russell Branyan, Mariners, broke out of a slump with his first grand slam in six years and Seattle rolled over Tampa Bay 11-2.

-Derek Holland, Rangers, threw a three-hitter against the majors' highest-scoring offense for his first career shutout, and Texas beat the Los Angeles Angels 7-0.

-Johan Santana, Mets, pitched eight strong innings and tied his career high with two hits and an RBI as New York avoided a four-game sweep with a 5-1 win over San Diego.

-Javier Vazquez, Braves, won his fifth straight decision with eight solid innings and Atlanta beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 8-2.

        SAGGING SOX

The Boston Red Sox finished a disastrous four-game series against the Yankees 3 for 38 with runners in scoring position, scoring two runs total in the final three games of a New York sweep. The Red Sox did manage to snap a 31-inning scoreless streak when Victor Martinez homered in the eighth inning of a 5-2 loss in the series finale.

        DOC DOES IT AGAIN

Roy Halladay won his 10th straight decision over Baltimore with Toronto's 7-3 victory. Halladay (12-5) allowed three runs and nine hits in eight innings, walked one and struck out four. The right-hander is 20-4 with a 2.89 ERA in 31 career games against the Orioles and has not lost to Baltimore since May 4, 2005. He is 2-0 in three starts against them this season.

        WINING IN WASHINGTON

The Nationals won their eighth straight with a 9-2 victory over the Diamondbacks. Washington's eight-game run is the second longest in five seasons in the nation's capital. They won 10 straight from June 2-12, 2005.

        GUILLEN'S GUYS

White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen put the rest of the league on notice: Hit our players and our pitchers will retaliate. Guillen was upset after Paul Konerko, Scott Podsednik and Gordon Beckham got hit by pitches by the Cleveland staff a night earlier in Chicago's 8-5 win. Guillen acknowledged he didn't think the Indians were throwing at them, but he's had enough of watching his players get hit. White Sox players have been hit 45 times this season, fifth in the majors.

        LONG-DISTANCE EJECTION

Phillies center fielder Shane Victorino was ejected by plate umpire Ed Rapuano in the top of the seventh of a 12-3 loss to Florida after Rodrigo Lopez's 0-2 pitch to Wes Helms was called a ball. It wasn't clear what Victorino did to prompt the ejection. He charged in from the outfield after getting tossed, but was stopped by catcher Paul Bako and first baseman Ryan Howard.

        UMP OUT

Home plate umpire Randy Marsh left the game between the Mets and Padres after getting hit in the face mask with a foul ball in the fifth. The tip off the bat of pinch-hitter Luis Rodriguez knocked off Marsh's mask. The shot appeared to jar Marsh, who staggered to the side. Mets catcher Omir Santos reached back and held him by the arm. There was a 13-minute delay before play resumed again with three umpires. Second base umpire Marvin Hudson moved behind the plate.

        HITTING MACHINE

Ichiro Suzuki had two hits in the Mariners' 11-2 win, a day after going 0 for 4. Suzuki has not gone hitless in consecutive games since Aug. 13-15, 2008. That span of 144 games is the longest such streak in the majors since 1954. The longest AL streak of not going hitless in consecutive games is 164 by Earl Sheely of the 1923-24 Chicago White Sox.

        STATS

St. Louis swept the Pirates for the first time since Sept. 28-30, 2007. ... The Indians have won 12 of 18 and three straight series against division rivals but still trail Detroit in the AL Central by 11 1/2 games. ... Luke Hochevar picked off two batters in the Royals' 6-3 loss to Oakland. ... Colorado's Todd Helton had three hits to extended his hitting streak to 14 games.

        SKID SNAPPER

The Reds' Aaron Harang ended the worst winless stretch of his career with his first victory - 5-2 over the Giants - since May 25 against Houston, a span of 13 starts in which he was 0-9 and had lost his last five starts.

        NO RELIEF

The Pittsburgh bullpen gave up 30 runs in 30 2-3 innings as the Pirates went 3-7 during a homestand against the Nationals, Diamondbacks and Cardinals. They were outscored 33-6 from the seventh inning on.

        SWINGING

Johnny Damon and Mark Teixeira have hit consecutive homers six times this season, the most ever for a pair of Yankees in one season.

        SPEAKING

"Yesterday I get upset, they hit one guy and they throw in into another guy. I got upset. I know for a fact they're not throwing at nobody, but enough is enough. I have (Paul) Konerko bruised all over the place. Around the league, be careful because we're going to hit people. I don't care if I get suspended because I need to protect my players.'' - White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen as he warned the league his pitchers would retaliate, a day after three of his players were hit by Cleveland pitches.

        SEASONS

        Aug. 10

1901 - Frank Isbell of the Chicago White Sox set an AL record by stranding 11 teammates on the base paths.

1944 - Charles "Red'' Barrett of the Boston Braves threw only 58 pitches to beat the Cincinnati Reds 2-0 in a nine-inning game.

1957 - Mickey Mantle became the first player to clear the center-field hedge at Baltimore's Memorial Stadium when his 460-foot homer hit the base of the scoreboard. The Yankees beat the Orioles, 6-3.

1969 - Cesar Tovar of Minnesota broke up the second no-hit bid against the Twins by a Baltimore pitcher. Tovar singled with no out in the ninth off Mike Cuellar. Earlier in the year, Tovar singled with one out in the ninth to spoil Dave McNally's bid.

1971 - Harmon Killebrew of the Minnesota Twins hit his 500th home run in the first inning off Baltimore's Mike Cuellar to become the 10th player to hit 500 or more in a career. Killebrew also hit No. 501 off Cuellar but the Orioles won 4-3.

1981 - Major League Baseball resumed play after a two-month strike. In the St. Louis Cards-Phillies game at Philadelphia, attended by 60,561 fans, Pete Rose broke Stan Musial's NL hit record when he singled for his 3,631st hit. It came off Mark Littell in the eighth inning.

1995 - Ball Night at Dodger Stadium turned into the first forfeit in the majors in 16 years. Los Angeles forfeited a game to the St. Louis Cardinals after fans threw souvenir baseballs onto the field three times. The game was called with one out in the bottom of the ninth.

2002 - Sammy Sosa hit three three-run homers before being pulled for a pinch-hitter in the bottom of the sixth inning in the Chicago's 15-1 rout of Colorado.

2003 - Atlanta Braves shortstop Rafael Furcal turned the 12th unassisted triple play in major league history against the St. Louis Cardinals. With runners on first and second in the fifth inning, Furcal made a leaping grab of pitcher Woody Williams' liner. The runners were going, and Furcal stepped on second base to double up Mike Matheny before tagging out Orlando Palmeiro.

2004 - Barry Bonds became the first player in major league history to hit 30 home runs in 13 consecutive seasons, hitting a solo shot off John Grabow in the seventh inning of San Francisco's 8-7 loss to Pittsburgh. Bonds has hit 30 homers in 14 seasons, one shy of Hank Aaron's record.

2006 - Boston's Curt Schilling tied the AL record by allowing 10 extra-base hits in a 5-4 loss to Kansas City. Schilling gave up nine doubles and a home run, matching the mark set by Washington's Dale Gear in 1901 and equaled by Cleveland's Luis Tiant in 1969.

Today's birthdays: Brandon Lyon 30; Jorge Campillo 31

Hot lines: Today’s best MLB bets
                -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Detroit Tigers at Boston Red Sox (+105, 9.5)

Mark this game down, because the Red Sox are almost never underdogs at Fenway Park.

It has happened just twice this season. On June 11, the Red Sox were +136 against the New York Yankees and CC Sabathia and came away with a 4-3 win. On May 8, they were +105 against James Shields and the Tampa Bay Rays and took a 7-3 victory.

In both games, Boston's starting pitcher was Brad Penny, who faces Detroit's Edwin Jackson on Monday. Penny is 5-2 at Fenway Park, where his ERA is more than a run lower than his road ERA.

The Red Sox will be opening a homestand and are 5-3 in those contests. They are 35-17 at home this season and swept three games from the Tigers in Detroit in June.

                Pick: Boston

Toronto Blue Jays at New York Yankees (-142, 10.5)

Since the All-Star break, the Yankees have been practically unbeatable at home.

They are 12-1 at Yankee Stadium in the second half, with the only loss at 6-4 setback to Oakland on July 25. And while the bats have made some noise from time to time, the Yankees have been doing it primarily with pitching.

The Yankees are allowing less than three runs per game at home since the All-Star break, holding foes to one run or less five times. They have allowed more than four runs just three times.

Overall since the All-Star break, the Yankees are second in the American League with a 3.72 ERA, third in opponents' batting average at .245 and first in strikeouts with 183 and saves with 10.

New York is 7-2 this season against Toronto.

                Pick: New York

                  ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                  Streaking and Slumping Pitchers
                  ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                  Streaking

                  Gavin Floyd (Chicago White Sox)

Floyd has been in an excellent rhythm recently, giving the White Sox huge chunks of innings and strikeouts.

In his last four starts, the righty is 2-0 with two no-decisions and the White Sox won three of the four games. He has faced some of the AL's best teams, working against the Los Angeles Angels, New York Yankees, Detroit Tigers and Tampa Bay Rays and impressing them with his toughness.

"He never gives in, even when he's behind in the count," Angels catcher Mike Napoli told the team's web site.

In his hot stretch, Floyd has pitched at least 6 2-3 innings each time out, compiling a 1.84 ERA. His WHIP (walks + hits per inning) is an outstanding 0.89 and he has 30 strikeouts in 29 1-3 innings. The under has also paid each time.

                  Doug Davis (Arizona Diamondbacks)

Since his worst start of the season, the left-hander has been at his best.

Davis gave up a season-high eight runs while getting a season-low seven outs at Colorado on July 20. But Arizona has won each of his last three starts with Davis going 2-0 with a 1.89 ERA in the process.

Davis may also be getting a grip on the control problems that have been an issue all season. He walked just two in seven innings last time out, the first time in a dozen starts he has walked less than three. As a result, his 11.67 pitches per inning was his best of the season.

Under bettors have cashed in Davis' last three outings.

                  Hideki Kuroda (Los Angeles Dodgers)

Just what the Dodgers need – another hot pitcher. They have not lost in four starts since the All-Star break with Kuroda on the mound.

Kuroda's fortunes haven't been as good; he endured three straight no-decisions before claiming a 17-4 laugher against Milwaukee in his last outing. But his numbers have been very strong.

The right-hander has a 3.91 ERA since the break, collecting 22 strikeouts against just four walks in 23 innings. He has not pitched more than six innings in any of those outings, so he likely will need some help from the bullpen.

                  Slumping

                  Johnny Cueto (Cincinnati Reds)

Cueto isn't entirely to blame for Cincinnati's troubles over the last six weeks, but he is a big reason.

The righty allowed one hit in six scoreless innings of a 1-0 win over Arizona on July 1 that allowed Cincinnati to improve to 38-38. Since then, the Reds are 9-24, and Cueto has been awful.

Among the National League ERA leaders through the first three months of the season, Cueto is 0-5 with a 9.85 ERA in his last six starts and has worked five innings or less three times. His WHIP is an astronomical 2.15 and he has given up seven homers.

As a rookie last year, Cueto had a longer slump starting in July that saw the Reds lose eight of his 10 starts.

                  Kyle Lohse (St. Louis Cardinals)

The big hurler hasn't pitched terribly since returning from a forearm injury last month. But he hasn't won, either.

Lohse is 0-3 with a 5.84 ERA in five starts, lasting five innings or less three times. He has just 12 strikeouts and 11 walks in that span.

Overall, the Cardinals have lost 10 of his last 11 starts, with the only win over punchless interleague rival Kansas City.

Tampa Bay Rays at Los Angeles Angels [10:05 PM ET]

Rays (-$1.15 O/U 9.5 under -$1.15): Tampa Bay hasn’t had much success playing in Anaheim. The Rays are 5-26 in their last 31 road games versus the Angels. They are seven games under .500 on the road this season. Tampa Bay is 5-11 in Matt Garza’s last 16 road outings. Garza (7-8, 3.63 ERA) has had 14 quality starts this year, tied with James Shields for most on the Rays. Garza was solid in his last start on Tuesday against Boston. The right-hander allowed two runs on three hits with two walks and six strikeouts during seven innings in a game the Rays eventually won in the 13th inning. Garza did throw a season-high 120 pitches. Tampa Bay has lost 15 of the past 22 times Garza has followed a quality start in his last appearance. Garza is 3-4 with a 4.09 ERA away from Tropicana Field this year.

The Under has cashed 14 of the last 18 times the Rays have faced a right-handed starter on the road.
The Under is 20-6-1 in Garza’s last 27 road starts.

                          PROJECTED SCORE: 5

Angels: The Angels have been one of the hottest clubs going 36-16 in their last 52 games. Los Angels is 5-1 in Sean O’Sullivan’s six starts this year. O’Sullivan (3-1, 4.24 ERA) tasted his first loss during his last start, losing 6-2 on the road to the White Sox last Wednesday. O’Sullivan was charged with four earned runs in five-plus innings. The rookie right-hander gave up six hits and struck out three. Tampa Bay has never faced O’Sullivan, who is 0-0 at Angel Stadium with a 5.91 ERA compared to 3-1 with a 3.47 ERA on the road. Leadoff hitter and AL runs leader Chone Figgins is hitless in his last 16 at bats. Vladimir Guerrero is eight-for-24 (.333) since being out nearly a month because of a strained left knee. The Angels are 38-14-3 (73 percent) to the over in their last 55 games.

The Over is 22-7-1 in the Angels’ last 30 home contests.

Dodgers (-$1.40, O/U 8.5 over -$1.20): The Dodgers have hit a bump in the road, losing 10 of their last 15. They are 2-6 in their last eight meetings in San Francisco. The Dodgers have won 46 of their last 65 National League West contests. Hiroki Kuroda (4-5, 4.44 ERA) had an easy time in his last start, a 17-4 home victory against Milwaukee last Tuesday. Kuroda allowed three runs to the Brewers on nine hits with seven strikeouts and one walk in six innings. His strikeout-to-walk ratio in his last three starts is 21-to-two. Los Angeles has won during Kuroda’s past four starts. The Dodgers also are 6-1 in Kuroda’s last seven starts when he’s had five days of rest. The under has cashed in seven of Kuroda’s last eight road starts versus a team with a winning record. The under is 15-6-1 (71 percent) in Kuroda’s last 22 road outings.

The Dodgers are 18-37 in their last 55 away matchups when playing a team with a home winning percentage of better than .600.

They are 20-7 against clubs with a winning road mark. San Francisco has lost only three series on the season when playing at AT&T Park. Jonathan Sanchez (5-9, 4.49) is 3-1 with a 2.75 ERA in his last five starts, which includes his no-hitter on July 10. The southpaw has been much more effective when pitching at home where he’s 4-1 with a 3.26 ERA. On the road, he’s 1-8 with a 5.53 ERA. San Francisco has lost 22 of Sanchez’s past 30 starts. The Giants are 1-5 in Sanchez’s last six starts versus National League West competition. Eugenio Velez is on a career-best 15-game hitting streak. Bengie Molina has knocked in eight runs in his last five games.

                            Len’s Top Five

                            Monday, August 10

                            Len's Top 5

Happy Monday everyone, here's my Top 5 for August 10, 2009 from Len Berman Sports.

                            1. Quick Hits

The Yankees complete a 4 game sweep over the Red Sox. They've opened up a 6 1/2 game bulge in the American League East.

The first NFL preseason game was played last night in Canton. Tennessee beat Buffalo 21-18. BTW, the next football-less weekend? The week after Super Bowl 44 in February of 2010. They'll stage the Pro Bowl the week before the Super Bowl this season.

Tiger Woods wins the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational in Akron after just a ridiculous approach shot on 16. The PGA Championship begins Thursday in Minnesota.

Hottest athlete on earth. A Finnish man, Timo Kaukonen won the World Sauna Championships by sitting in 230 degree temps for 3 minutes 46 seconds. The tension must have reached the boiling point.

                            2. New York, New York

Early Saturday morning (12:42AM) in the Big Apple. Alex Rodriguez ends a 15 inning scoreless marathon with the Red Sox with a two run homer. Within minutes a Top 5 subscriber emails me "yeah, lets see him do it in October." Minutes later the Mets expensive closer yields a walkoff grand slam homer in San Diego. It's a Dickens novel, only in this case it's "A Tale of One S***ty."

                            3. The Dog Ate my Homework

So do you buy David Ortiz' story? That he's not a hard core steroid user, he just popped some pills that were legal at the time? We've had all sorts of defenses. From Barry Bonds saying yeah he rubbed some kind of cream but he doesn't know what it was. To A-Rod's cousin injecting "who knows what, who knows when." Don't even ask about Manny's fertility drugs. And now this. Whatever their story, here's one common thread. They were all trying to gain an "edge," and at some level they all had to know it wasn't exactly kosher.

                            4. Calm Down Knick Fans

Knick fans must be all atwitter. (Of course these days it doesn't take much to get Knicks fans atwitter.) LeBron James says he will not sign an extension with Cleveland, that he "wants to keep his options open." Of course one of those options could be signing with the Knicks as a free agent after next season. Then again Knick fans figure the Dolans will figure out a way to screw it up.

                            5. Monday Musings

Didn't it look like Yankee pitcher C.C. Sabathia needs to skip a meal and was wearing pajama bottoms the other day? One tweeter responded "the way he pitches he could be wearing a thong for all I care."
Yankee announcer John Sterling certainly has his share of critics but tell the the truth. After A-Rod's winning homer didn't you want to hear Sterling's call of the "A-Bomb from A-Rod?" I know I did.
With the A's releasing Jason Giambi, R.I.P the career of "The Giambalco."
Hey, I went over 500 followers on twitter Len Berman Sports this weekend. Only 2,000,634 to catch Oprah.

Happy Birthday. Everyone's favorite chucker, former Knick John Starks. 44.
Bonus Birthday: Mrs. Jason Sehorn (former Giant), actress Angie Harmon. 37.

Today in Sports: Stats, those damn stats. 16 researchers form the Society for American Baseball Research. 1971.
Bonus Event: Michael Jackson buys most of the Beatles music for $47-million. 1985.

Indiana Fever at Los Angeles Sparks (-2, 138)

The league-leading Fever have not been underdogs very often this season. But when they are, they have been a smart play.

Indiana has gotten points just five times this season, most recently Saturday at Phoenix, when it was a four-point underdog and raced to a 17-2 lead en route to a 90-83 win.

The Fever are 4-1 as underdogs, with the only loss a 67-61 setback at Connecticut on July 21 when they were getting 1.5 points. They also notched a 73-61 home win over the Sparks on June 12 with a line of pick 'em.

Overall, the Fever have won five in a row and covered four straight games, two as an underdog. The recent run has been sparked by Katie Douglas, who is averaging 26 points since the All-Star break.

                              Pick: Indiana
