      Saturday six-pack

-- A's did the right thing and released 38-year old Jason Giambi, who hit .193 for them this season. They never should have signed him.

-- Ton of drama out west, as Braves, Reds both scored a lot of runs in last inning, and recorded road wins. Cincinnati came from behind in a game Lincecum started for Giants. Braves benefitted from Billingsley's bum hamstring to rally late against the Dodgers.

-- Everth Cabrera, Ryan Langerhans were both unlikely to hit walkoff homers, but both did it late Friday night, as San Diego, Seattle both got come-from-behind wins at home.

-- Rams drew crowd of 7,500 for a scrimmage in a college stadium that seats 6,500 Friday night in Lindenwood, MO.

-- Take away Ellsbury's 2-5, and Red Sox were 2-41 Friday night.

-- Of the nine players the Red Sox had on the field in the 15th inning Friday night, four of them weren't on the team nine days ago.

Saturday's List of 13: In a perfect world, where I make all the decisions............

      13) The NFL pay-per-view package would be available to anyone who wanted to pay for it, not just DirecTV customers.

      12) Everyone would get to visit Las Vegas at least once in their life.

      11) NBC would tell Notre Dame football to join a league or take a hike.

      10) Our country would spend less money in the Middle East and more money helping the people hurt by disasters on Gulf Coast and in Iowa.

      9) There would be a PGA Tour event played on a par-3 course. A really really hard par-3 course, one with lots of water around the greens.

      8) Billy Packer would still be broadcasting college basketball games on TV-- not necessarily CBS, but he belongs somewhere in the game.

      7) The Electoral College would be eliminated in the Presidential election. Whomever gets the most votes wins. How hard would this be to do?

      6) MLB Network would show a Japanese Baseball Game of the Week.

      5) Prostitution would be legalized. Marijuana wouldn't be.

      4) NHL teams in Dallas, Nashville, Atlanta, Phoenix would relocate to Quebec City, Hamilton, Saskatoon and Winnipeg.

      3) Our society would respect older more people more. They should be a resource, their brains picked so we get smarter. Doesn't happen enough.

      2) Minnesota Twins' new stadium would have a retractable roof on it.

      1) The drinking age would go back to 18; if you're old enough to go fight in a war, you're old enough to go have a couple beers.
