This is the last year of Mason's contract. He has been trying to get a contract extension from the Ravens all off season This smells like it may be a negotiating ploy or McNair's death had a major impact on him and convinced him it is time to get out. As of today Mason has not filed retirement papers with the league which he must do to make it official. I think it is a negotiating tool.

I agree, this guy is a Pro's Pro. He can be productive still and lots of teams would love to have him. No way he is done unless it is becuase of McNair.
