Not a big trade but slightly impacts tonights games. The Mets lineup gets worse, if that's possible

I would rather have Frenchy than Church...but that is just my opinion. Im sure no one will agree but I believe Jeff is worth more than Church.Last edited by Mark Richt; 07-10-2009, 06:28 PM.

Francouer has a major hole in his swing, he'll always strikeout a bunch, and bat around .200 now that everyone's figured him out. And any power he had is practically gone. Church is a pretty good hitter. He'll never be great, but he's solid. This trade is bad for the Mets

Only 25 years old so the swing can be fixed if it is indeed a problem. Not to mention is a classy guy...which can't be said for many in the league. Im in agreement with the bad PR move on Braves management in this trade following the Glavine-Smoltz drama.
He does have a cannon in right, but his fielding as a whole is a verage at best."CFB YTD: 5-8-1 -16.2"

Francouer's strikeouts are finally down this year, but it no longer matters because his power has been completely sapped. He's gone from 17.1% of his flyballs leaving the yard his rookie season to 15.3% to 6.5% last year to 4.7% this year. That's Christian Guzman power without the singles.
The only conceivable bonus for the Mets is that Francouer is younger.

I have not followed Church's career but Francoeur has been a BUST.One of the worst hitters I have seen.Mavs touched on it earlier with runners in scoring position with 1 out he would strike out 75% of the time and then 1 out later the inning was over.He sucked with runners in scoring position and Atlanta gave him every chance to fix his mentality at the plate and he never changed
