Today in the Daily Sports Roundup: The Rays try to knock off the visiting Jays, the Royals battle the Tigers in Detroit, and the Cubs look to get past the Braves.

Colliding in the Junior Circuit . . .

The Jays and Rays will play the middle contest of their three-game set on Wednesday night with Brian Tallet (5-6, 4.38 ERA) taking on Scott Kazmir (4-5, 6.79 ERA). Lefthander Tallet was beaten by the Yankees in his last trip to the hill, giving up two earned runs over six innings of work; Toronto is 1-4 in Tallet's last five starts. Lefthander Kazmir also took a loss in his last trip to the mound, giving up one earned run in five innings against the Rangers. Kazmir last won on May 9.

The Yankees will be on the road in Minnesota again on Wednesday, while the White Sox will host Cleveland. Also on the American League schedule: Baltimore at Seattle, Texas at the Angels, Oakland at Boston, and Kansas City at Detroit. The Royals will send Zack Greinke (10-4, 2.00 ERA) to the mound against the Tigers; the righthander took a loss vs. the ChiSox last time out, giving up four runs (two earned) in six innings. Detroit will go with Luke French (0-0, 2.35 ERA).

Clashing in the Senior Circuit . . .

The Cubs will turn to ace Carlos Zambrano (4-3, 3.50 ERA) on Wednesday afternoon as they try to pick up a home win over the Braves and Kenshin Kawakami (4-6, 4.46 ERA). Righthander Zambrano had to settle for a no-decision in his start against the Brewers last week despite surrendering only one earned run in his seven innings of work. Righthander Kawakami was knocked around by the Nationals last time out, allowing four earned runs in 4 1-3 innings.

Elsewhere on Wednesday's National League slate: Pittsburgh at Houston, Washington at Colorado, San Diego at Arizona, Florida at San Francisco, Cincinnati at Philadelphia, the Dodgers at the Mets, and St. Louis at Milwaukee. The Cardinals will send Todd Wellemeyer (7-7, 5.44 ERA) to the mound against their division rival, and the Brewers will counter with Jeff Suppan (5-6, 4.60 ERA).

Rounding out the Roundup . . .

Finally, the WNBA has just one game on tap for Wednesday night, with Phoenix playing host to Chicago. The Mercury have been one of the most profitable teams in the league so far this season, matching an 8-4 straight-up record with an 8-4 against-the-spread mark. Phoenix had no trouble knocking off Los Angeles last time out, getting 21 points from Cappie Pondexter and 20 points from Diana Taurasi in a 104-89 road win. DeWanna Bonner picked up 10 boards.

Six-pack for Wednesday

-- Paul Konerko homered three times as White Sox beat up on hapless Cleveland 10-6. Mark Buehrle got the win for the Pale Hose.

-- Out in Seattle, Luke Scott knocked in seven runs as Orioles crushed the Mariners 12-4, but only after former teammate Bedard left game.

-- Mets haven't scored since 5th inning at Philly Saturday (22 innings).

-- Pat Burrell sent the Tampa fans home happy with a walk-off HR in the 11th inning, as Rays won 3-1 despite getting only four hits.

-- NBA Summer League doesn't mean a whole lot, but James Harden scored 36 points in his first two games, and Tyler Hans-brough scored 40, while showing an outside touch he never tried at North Carolina.

-- NBA salary cap for next year will be $57.7M, down a million or so from last year; teams can now start signing free agents.

Wednesday's List of 13: Random stuff on a summer night......

13) July is a huge month for college basketball this year, the first year in memory there hasn't been a spring recruiting period, so coaches have 20 days this month to evaluate their recruits in person, which ain't easy.

12) If you don't think basketball recruiting is wild, there is a kid named Rodney Purvis in Raleigh who is already getting recruiting letters in the mail-- Baylor sent him his first one. When young Purvis starts school in September, he'll be in the ninth grade.

11) Why is the competition for players so fierce? Because at the end of the rainbow is a pot of gold, at least for coaches and schools; UCLA is going to redo Pauley Pavilion in the next couple years- if you thought PSLs for NFL games were extortion, check this out........

Courtside seats will require a $500,000 donation to the capital campaign, payable over five years, plus an annual donation of $17,000 per seat to the Wooden Athletic Fund.

Two courtsides seats for five years will set you back $670,000.

10) Schools make a ton of money, coaches are getting fairly wealthy, but the kids, who are the show, lets face it, get in trouble if they take a Coke or extra bag of chips on a recruiting trip. Hypocrisy knows no bounds.

9) Down in South America, kid named Rosario who scored 16 ppg for Rutgers last year scored 54 points for Puerto Rico in a 90-89 win over France in the 19-under World Championships. The American team has not lost yet-- their next game is the quarterfinal round.

8) Felipe Paulino has made four road starts for Houston-- Astros were outscored 34-2 in the four games.

7) The Mets are really depressingly bad right now, with Reyes-Beltran and Delgado all injured; how did they get four guys on All-Star team?

6) Kid named James McOwen who plays for High Desert Mavericks, a Class A affiliate of Seattle, has a 44-game hitting streak, the longest one in minor league baseball in the last 55 years.

5) Did you know that from 1959-62, they played two All Star Games each season? That wouldn't be a bad idea now, play a doubleheader at one sight in same night, which would let more guys play.

4) In his last three starts, Brad Penny has thrown 213 strikes, with only 21 swings/misses, 46 called strikes, 54 balls in play (18 hits on the 54 balls in play) and a whopping 92 pitches fouled off (28.8%), a red flag he doesn't have the stuff to put hitters away right now.

3) Cubs and Wrigley Field are supposedly being sold for $900M-- I've read where if they ever won a World Series, the value of the franchise is going to go down, since they wouldn't be loveable losers anymore. That seems ridiculous, but the person writing it seemed serious, and I'm sure he knows more about it than I do, so we'll go with that, for now.

2) Barry Zito blanked Florida for 8.1 innings Tuesday night as Giants got their 12th shutout this season, most in the major leagues.

1) Our society goes wacky over celebrities, with people celebrating after getting tickets to Michael Jackson's funeral Tuesday. Meanwhile, eight US servicemen died over in Afghanistan this week-- they won't give out bracelets for admission to their funerals, which won't be covered by the cable networks. They weren't wealthy, just incredibly brave. Somehow, that should count for more than it seems to.

-Luke Scott, Orioles, had a career-high seven RBIs to power Baltimore to a 12-4 victory over Seattle.

-Paul Konerko, White Sox, hit a career-high three home runs, including a go-ahead grand slam in the sixth inning, to lead Chicago to a 10-6 win over Cleveland.

-Brandon Phillips, Reds, homered twice and drove in three runs to power Cincinnati to a 4-3 victory at Philadelphia.

-Clayton Kershaw, Dodgers, struck out seven in six innings to help Los Angeles blank the New York Mets 8-0.

-Ryan Zimmerman, Nationals, hit a three-run homer in Washington's 5-4 loss to Colorado.

-Javier Vazquez, Braves, pitched seven strong innings in Atlanta's 2-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs.

-Jack Wilson, Pirates, hit a two-run homer and an RBI single to lead Pittsburgh to a 6-3 win against Houston.

-Pat Burrell, Rays, hit a two-run homer in the 11th inning to give Tampa Bay a 3-1 victory over Toronto. He had been mired in a 4-for-34 slump.

NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT

Alan Embree earned the win in Colorado's 5-4 victory over Washington without throwing a pitch. He entered with two outs in the eighth and picked off Austin Kearns, who had singled off Joel Peralta. According to STATS LLC, it was the first time a major leaguer had gotten a win without throwing a pitch since B.J Ryan for Baltimore at Detroit on May 1, 2003.

SIDELINED

Right fielder Vladimir Guerrero left the Angels' 8-5 loss to the Rangers in the eighth inning with a strained muscle behind his left knee. Guerrero fielded a single by Elvis Andrus and was about to make a throw when it looked like he stepped awkwardly on his left leg. Guerrero fell to his hands and knees, but got up and walked around before trainers came out to look at his leg. He eventually walked off the field on his own and was replaced by Gary Matthews Jr.

OH MANNY

Dodgers outfielder Manny Ramirez was ejected in the fifth inning of Los Angeles' game against the Mets for arguing a called third strike. The slugger, who returned from a 50-game drug suspension last week, dropped his bat, tossed his helmet and flung his elbow pad. Booed for much of the game, Ramirez then heard his departure cue from plate umpire John Hirschbeck. Ramirez drove in three runs with two singles before being ejected.

SHOPPING AROUND

Roy Halladay wants to keep pitching for Toronto, but is willing to consider accepting a trade if approached by the Blue Jays. Halladay is 10-2 with a 2.79 ERA in 16 starts. He'll be paid $14.25 million this year and his contract, which has a no-trade clause, expires after the 2010 season, when he's set to earn $15.75 million.

STRIKEOUT MACHINE

Justin Verlander struck out 11 to run his majors-best total to 141, the most by a Detroit pitcher before the All-Star game in 37 years. The last Tiger to have as many strikeouts as Verlander before the break was Mickey Lolich, who had 152 before the 1972 All-Star game.

HOME AWAY FROM HOME

CC Sabathia continues to baffle the Twins. The lefty is 6-1 with 1.70 ERA in his last seven starts in the Metrodome after giving up one run in the Yankees' 10-2 victory Tuesday night.

WORTH NOTING

Seattle slugger Ken Griffey Jr. wore a single white batting glove in his first at-bat as a tribute to Michael Jackson. ... Doug Davis earned his first win since June 5, allowing two runs over 6 1-3 innings to lead Arizona to a 4-3 victory against San Diego.

SPEAKING

"It really woke us up. We came in, said we have to wake up, do the little things and we can't let the same things happen.'' - Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips on Cincinnati's 22-1 loss at Philadelphia on Monday night. Phillips hit a pair of homers and drove in three runs to help the Reds bounce back with a 4-3 victory against the Phillies on Tuesday night.

1912 - Rube Marquard's 19-game winning streak was stopped as the New York Giants lost 7-2 to the Chicago Cubs.

1935 - The AL extended its All-Star winning streak to three with a 4-1 victory at Cleveland's Municipal Stadium. New York Yankee Lefty Gomez went six innings, which prompted the NL to have the rules changed so that no pitcher could throw more than three innings, unless extra innings.

1941 - Ted Williams of the Boston Red Sox hit a three-run, two-out homer in the ninth to give the AL a dramatic 7-5 victory in the All-Star game at Detroit's Briggs Stadium. Up to that point Arky Vaughn of the Pittsburgh Pirates was the NL hero with two home runs, the first player to do so in All-Star play. Joe and Dom DiMaggio both played for the AL, marking the first time that brothers appeared in the same All-Star game.

1947 - Frank Shea became the first winning rookie pitcher in the first 14 years of All-Star play as the AL nipped the NL 2-1 at Chicago's Wrigley Field.

1952 - The NL edged the AL 3-2 in the first rain-shortened All-Star game. The five-inning contest, at Philadelphia's Shibe Park, featured home runs by Jackie Robinson and Hank Sauer of the Nationals.

1958 - The 25th anniversary All-Star game, at Baltimore's Memorial Stadium, went to the AL, 4-3 in a game that only produced 13 singles. This was the first All-Star game in which neither team got an extra-base hit.

1970 - Jim Ray Hart of San Francisco hit for the cycle and became the first NL player in 59 years to drive in six runs in one inning as the Giants beat Atlanta, 13-0.

1994 - Shortstop John Valentin made the 10th unassisted triple play in baseball history in the sixth inning and then led off the bottom of the inning with a homer to lead Boston to a 4-3 victory over the Seattle Mariners.

1997 - Cleveland Indians catcher Sandy Alomar hit a two-run homer to give the American League a 3-1 victory over the National League in the All-Star game. Alomar, the first player to win the All-Star MVP in his own ballpark, broke the tie in the seventh inning off San Francisco's Shawn Estes.

2000 - Dwight Gooden and Roger Clemens teamed up to shut down the Mets, giving the Yankees identical 4-2 victories in the first double-ballpark doubleheader in the majors since 1903. After the opener, many in the sellout crowd of 54,165 at Shea Stadium immediately headed for Game 2, which drew 55,821 at Yankee Stadium.

2003 - Cleveland rookie Billy Traber pitched a one-hitter for his first complete game, beating the Yankees 4-0. Traber retired 27 of 28 batters, including 21 in a row after John Flaherty's single in the third inning.

On July 8 in Baseball History...

1902 - John McGraw, accused by Ban Johnson of trying to wreck the Baltimore and Washington clubs, negotiates his release from the Orioles and officially signs to manage the Giants at $11,000 a year. McGraw then swings the sale of the Orioles towards the Giants and the Reds.

1918 - Babe Ruth's blast over the fence in Fenway scores Amos Strunk as the Red Sox win 1-0 over Cleveland. Prevailing rules regarding the winning run scoring ahead of the home run reduce Babe's home run to a triple. He will tie for the A.L. title with 11 home runs, even though he plays just 95 games.

1935 - The A.L. continues its All-Star Game reign, winning the third event at Cleveland's Municipal Stadium, 4-1. Jimmie Foxx is the hitting star with a homer and three RBI.

1941 - At the All-Star Game at Briggs Stadium, Ted Williams, hitting .405 at the break, homers off Chicago Cubs pitcher Claude Passeau with two out and two on in the ninth inning to give the A.L. a dramatic 7-5 victory.

1947 - Clutch pinch hits by Luke Appling and Stan Spence lead the A.L. to a 2-1 win over the N.L. in the All-Star Game at Wrigley Field. Schoolboy Rowe pinch-hits for Johnny Sain, becoming the first player to appear for each side. Rowe pitched three innings for the A.L. in 1936.

1949 - Monte Irvin and Hank Thompson are the first blacks to play for the Giants. Thompson, who was also the first black to play for the St. Louis Browns (in 1947), starts at second base, and Irvin pinch-hits in the eighth. When Thompson steps in against Don Newcombe, it is the first time in Major League history that a black pitcher and a black hitter have faced off. The Dodgers win the game 4-3.

1951 - The feud between Joe DiMaggio and Casey Stengel reaches a head. In the second inning of a game, because of a misplay in the first, Stengel sends reserve Jackie Jensen out to center field to relieve the Yankee Clipper after he had already taken his position.

1952 - The N.L. defeats the A.L. 3-2 behind the pitching of the Phils' Curt Simmons and the Cubs' Bob Rush in Philadelphia. The game is ended after five innings because of rain. Hank Sauer's homer with Stan Musial aboard in the fourth proves to be the deciding run.

1957 - The owners decide to re-elect Commissioner Ford Frick to another seven-year term when his present contract is up in 1958.

1958 - The A.L. edges the N.L. 4-3 in the All-Star Game, played at Baltimore's Memorial Stadium. The Yankees Gil McDougald singles to score Boston's Frank Malzone with the deciding run.

1976 - Randy Jones beats the Cubs 6-3 for his 16th win of the year for the Padres, an N.L. record for wins at the All-Star break. He beats the Cubs 6-3. In the second half of the season, the Padres lefty will lose seven games by one run, including two 1-0 scores.

1980 - The N.L. wins its ninth consecutive All-Star Game 4-2 at Dodger Stadium. Reds outfielder Ken Griffey has two hits, including a home run, to win the game's MVP Award.

1982 - Billy Martin records his 1,000th career win as a manager as the A's beat the Yankees 6-3.

1997 - Sandy Alomar, Jr., who has a 30-game hitting streak to end the first half of the season, slams a two-run home run in front of the hometown crowd at Jacobs Field to lead the AL to a 3-1 win in the All-Star Game. Alomar is named the game's MVP for helping end the N.L.'s three-game winning streak.

Florida Marlins at San Francisco Giants (-132, 8.5)

The San Francisco Giants have been the most consistent home team this season.

The Giants are 27-13 at home, just a win behind the Los Angeles Dodgers (28-13) for the best home record in baseball. But while the Dodgers won their first 13 home games and have played slightly above .500 since, the Giants have been much more steady at AT&T Park.

The Giants have completed six homestands and have winning records in all but one, going 3-4 vs. the Washington Nationals and New York Mets in mid-May. They have won the opener and the finale of every homestand.

San Francisco has played 15 home series and is 12-2 with four sweeps. It has won the series opener 12 times and the series finale 10 times.

Wednesday’s meeting with the Marlins is the series finale. The Giants have four home games with the San Diego Padres before the All-Star break.

Kansas City Royals at Detroit Tigers (-105)

The Kansas City Royals have been awful on the road this season – except when Zack Greinke is on the mound.

When the Royals start someone other than their ace in a road game, they are 10-19. But when Greinke takes the hill, they are 4-3.

Greinke’s road mark includes a complete-game 1-0 loss at Anaheim and a no-decision at Cleveland in which the bullpen took the setback. He has pitched at least six innings in all but one of his road starts

When Greinke pitches on the road, Kansas City has allowed an average of just 2.43 runs. The total has been under in six of his seven road starts.

Streaking and Slumping Pitchers

Streaking

A.J. Burnett (New York Yankees)

The right-hander has been overpowering in his last four starts, going 3-1 with an ERA just under 1.00 since a bad outing at Boston nearly a month ago. After that performance, he vowed things would be different – and they have been.

“It’s a lot better,” Burnett told the team’s website after his last start. “I'm just looking forward to getting out there again, because the more you get out there, the more comfortable you get."

Over that span, Burnett has 33 strikeouts in 27 1-3 innings while giving up just 16 hits. He will be looking to win three straight starts for the first time this season.

Ryan Sadowski (San Francisco Giants)

It doesn’t matter that Giants veteran lefthanders Barry Zito and Randy Johnson haven’t pitched to expectations. Young guns Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain have San Francisco in postseason contention, and they may be joined by another rookie hotshot.

Sadowski is a 27-year-old right-hander who was drafted in 2002 and has made a slow progression through the minor leagues. Never considered a top prospect, he definitely is pitching like one.

In his first two major league starts, Sadowski has not given up a run in 13 innings, winning twice while allowing just seven hits and four walks. He has received 20 runs of support.

A native of Davie, Fla., which is just outside Miami, Sadowski’s third start is against the Marlins, his hometown team.

Returning

Aaron Laffey (Cleveland Indians)

The left-hander is back on the mound for the first time since May 22 at Cincinnati, sidelined with a right oblique strain. He will also be making his first start since May 2 at Detroit.

Laffey made 25 starts without a relief appearance over his first two years and began this season in the rotation. He made four starts before being moved to the bullpen for the first time in his career.

As a starter, Laffey is 2-0 with a 4.09 ERA this season, surrendering 21 hits and 15 walks.

Oliver Perez (New York Mets)

It’s nice that Perez is returning, because the left-hander is so erratic he can be streaking and slumping in the same game.

Perez was riding his customary roller coaster through his first five starts before suddenly developing tendinitis in his right knee that sidelined him for two months.

“I’m excited to be ready to pitch again,” Perez told the media Saturday upon rejoining the team.

Mets fans may not be as excited. Perez failed to get through five innings in four of his five starts.

Slumping

Ervin Santana (Los Angeles Angels)

The right-hander spent the first six weeks on the disabled list, then another three weeks before returning over the weekend, preventing Santana from developing any consistency.

His troubles date back to last season and have been worse at home. In his last six starts at Angels Stadium, Santana has failed to pitch six innings.

During that span, he is 0-3 with an astronomical 11.52 ERA, giving up 52 hits and 11 walks. Worse, the Angels are 1-5 in those games despite scoring 30 runs.

Yankees-Twins Preview

The New York Yankees have been dominating opponents the past two weeks. A.J. Burnett has done his share of that lately as well.

Seeking their sixth win in as many tries against the Minnesota Twins this season, the Yankees send the red-hot Burnett to the mound Wednesday night at the Metrodome.

Since losing three straight to Florida last month, New York (49-34) has played the way most observers expected it would when the club spent $423.5 million in the offseason to put Mark Teixeira, CC Sabathia and Burnett in pinstripes.

The Yankees have won 11 of 13 to move a season-best 15 games over .500 and pull within one game of AL East-leading Boston. They've batted .302 while outscoring the opposition 89-53 during that stretch.

Sabathia allowed one run in seven innings and the Yankees cruised to a 10-2 victory in Tuesday's series opener. It was the sixth straight road win for New York, which hasn't won seven in a row away from home since Sept. 3-17, 2005.

The bottom third of the order combined for seven hits and six RBIs as the Yankees improved to 16-6 against the Twins since the start of 2007 season.

All-Star first baseman Teixeira continued to feast on Minnesota pitching, going 4 for 6 with an RBI. He has batted .621 (18 for 29) with five homers and 13 RBIs in his last seven games against the Twins.

Although he may yield the title of ace to Sabathia, few pitchers in baseball have been as good as Burnett (7-4, 3.83 ERA) has of late.

Since lasting 2 2-3 innings in a 7-0 loss at Boston on June 9, the right-hander is 3-1 with a 0.99 ERA in four starts. The only defeat in that span came June 20, when he allowed one earned run in 6 1-3 innings of a 2-1 loss to the Marlins.

Burnett gave up two runs over seven innings Friday in a 4-2 victory over Toronto, striking out seven and walking two.

"When you're clicking, everything just flows,'' Burnett said. "When you're clicking on pitches, you don't even think about anything. You know, it's just all confidence out there.''

Burnett limited Minnesota to two runs in 6 2-3 innings May 17 but walked six in New York's 3-2 victory in 10 innings.

The Twins (43-41) need victories in their next two games to win their fifth straight series. Minnesota entered Tuesday having won eight of 12.

Glen Perkins (4-4, 4.38) pitched very well his past four starts, but his last appearance against the Yankees is one he'd rather forget. The left-hander faced New York on May 18 and retired only two batters while allowing six runs and seven hits in a 7-6 loss.

Perkins, though, won his second consecutive start with another strong performance in a 5-1 victory at Kansas City on Wednesday. He allowed one run in seven innings, with 16 of his 21 outs coming on groundballs.

Perkins is 1-3 with a 7.71 ERA in four starts against the Yankees. He pitched eight innings to beat New York 4-0 at the Metrodome on Aug. 11.

High Desert's McOwen extends hit streak to 44

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -High Desert's Jamie McOwen has extended his hitting streak to 44 games, the longest in the minor leagues in 55 years.

McOwen kept the streak going Tuesday night with a broken-bat single in the eighth inning of a 12-2 loss to San Jose. He finished 1 for 4 with two strikeouts, dropping his batting average to .353.

It's the minors' longest streak since Waco's Roman Mejias hit in 55 straight games in 1954. The 2007 sixth-round draft pick has a hit in every game for Seattle's Class A California League affiliate since May 10.

His run is the eighth-longest in minor league history. Wichita's Joe Wilhoit holds the minor-league mark with a hit in 69 straight games in 1919.

The right-hander has been his usual up and down self this season. He pitched well in his last start, though, getting a no-decision in a 2-1 loss to the Cubs last Friday. Suppan held the Cubs to one earned run on seven hits in seven innings. In his two previous starts, Suppan was lit up for nine earned runs and 18 hits in 10 2/3 innings against the Giants and Twins. Suppan is 7-3 against the Cardinals, his former team, during his career with a 3.31 ERA in 13 starts. He is 1-1 against the Cardinals this season allowing five runs in 11 2/3 innings.

Texas Rangers at Los Angeles Angels [10:05 PM ET]

Rangers: The Rangers haven’t had much luck on the road against the Angels losing 25 of the past 38 times in Los Angeles. Star outfielder Josh Hamilton, though, is 5-for-8 with a double and two runs scored for Texas since returning from the DL on Monday. Vicente Padilla (6-4, 4.75 ERA) makes his first start since June 30. Padilla has battled some inflammation in his right shoulder, but threw in the bullpen on Monday without problem and is slated to go. He faced the Angels in his last start and allowed five runs on 10 hits in five plus innings in a 5-2 defeat. Previous to that start, however, Padilla was 3-0 with a 2.16 ERA in four outings. In 14 career appearances versus the Angels, the veteran right-hander is 6-4 with a 4.98 ERA. Padilla is 3-1 with a 3.43 ERA in six road starts this season.

The Rangers are 20-7 in their last 27 games versus American League West clubs.

Angels (-$1.30, O/U 10 over -$1.20): The Angels lead the major leagues with a team batting average of .280. They have five .300 hitters in their starting lineup, but may be without star outfielder Vladimir Guerrero. He suffered a strained knee muscle in Tuesday’s loss to the Rangers. The Angels have won 66 percent (60-30) of their home games versus teams with a winning record. Angels starter Ervin Santana (1-4, 7.43 ERA), however, is looking to regain his 2008 All-Star form following issues involving his right elbow, forearm and triceps. This is his second start since June 11 when he went on the DL. He yielded six runs (four earned) in five innings against the Orioles on Friday in his first start back. His fastball was clocked in the 93-94 mph range, close to his 94-96 range of last season. The right-hander is 7-5 with a 6.46 ERA in 14 career starts against Texas.
