Orlando Magic at Los Angeles Lakers Game 2 [ABC | 8:00 PM ET]

Magic: Orlando shot just 29.1 percent from the floor and was out-rebounded, 55-41, in the Lakers’ 100-75 Game 1 victory. The Magic must improve in two key areas – points in the paint and in their perimeter shooting. Dwight Howard was held to just one-of-six shooting from the floor as the Lakers hammered Orlando inside outscoring the Magic, 56-22. Sharpshooters Rashard Lewis and Hedo Turkoglu shot a combined five-for-21 from the field, scoring just 21 points between them. Orlando has covered in seven of its last nine games. The underdog is 6-1 ATS the past seven times Orlando and the Lakers have met. Point guard Jameer Nelson played for the first time since undergoing shoulder surgery on Feb. 19. He had six points and four assists in 23 minutes. However, starting point guard Rafer Alston said he lost rhythm when he sat out the second quarter in favor of Nelson.

The Magic are 17-8 ATS as a road underdog.
The Magic are 16-6 ATS when playing on two days rest.

    Key Injuries - NONE.

PROJECTED SCORE: 98 (Side Play of the Day)

Lakers (-6.5, O/U 202): The Lakers exploited their size advantage holding Dwight Howard to 12 points, nine points below his 21.7 playoff average. The Lakers will continue to mix up their double-team coverage on Howard. Lakers big men Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum will try to beat Howard to his spot, while Lamar Odom and Trevor Ariza occasionally help out. Kobe Bryant will try to keep Orlando’s defense off balance by setting up his teammates. Bryant took 34 shots while scoring 40 points on Thursday. Sparked by Bryant’s hitting 16 field goals, the Lakers made 46.1 percent of their shots from the floor. Bryant clearly is a man on a mission as he also pulled down eight rebounds and dished off eight assists, while sinking all eight of his free throws. The Lakers have covered five of their last seven games at the Staples Center. They are 8-2 ATS when playing on two days rest.

The Under has cashed in 9 of Los Angeles’ past 11 games.
The Under is 16-5 in the Lakers’ last 21 home games.

    Key Injuries - NONE.

    PROJECTED SCORE: 104

      Tips and Trends
      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Milwaukee Brewers at Atlanta Braves [1:35 PM ET]

Brewers: The Brewers are one of only three teams in baseball to use just five starting pitchers this season. That may change if southpaw Manny Parra keeps pitching so poorly. Parra has dropped his past three starts, giving up 22 runs and 26 hits in 14 innings during this span. Parra’s ERA has climbed from 4.82 to 6.75 following these last three losses. Milwaukee is just 5-16 during Parra’s past 21 starts, including 2-9 in his last 11 road outings. The Brewers, though, have defeated the Braves in eight of the past 11 meetings. Parra will be working against a Braves team that hasn’t scored in 22 straight innings. Prince Fielder has smacked six homers in 15 games at Turner Field. He’s hit more homers at Turner Field than any Atlanta player has this season except for Kelly Johnson. Brewers closer Trevor Hoffman hasn’t allowed a run in 17 appearances this year.

The Brewers are 2-7 in their last nine games as an underdog.
The over is 7-0-2 in Parra’s last nine starts as an underdog.

Key Injuries - Richie Weeks is out for the season with a wrist injury.

      PROJECTED SCORE: 4

Braves (-$1.45, O/U 9.5 under -$1.25): Tommy Hanson makes his much anticipated big league debut. Considered Atlanta’s best pitching prospect this decade, Hanson dominated International League competition with a 1.49 ERA and 90 strikeouts in 66 1/3 innings at Triple-A Gwinnett this season. Hanson allowed just 40 hits and 17 walks in 11 starts. Hanson should be extremely excited with 30-to-40 family members and friends coming to see the 22-year-old pitch. The Braves, however, are in a severe run-producing slump. They have scored two or fewer runs in seven of their last 11 games. Atlanta is 3-8 in its last 11 contests. The Braves have dropped three in a row. The Braves have scored one or no runs in six of their past 12 home games. Star third baseman Chipper Jones said he should be ready to play today after leaving in the sixth inning on Saturday because of dizziness. Atlanta is 16-35 versus NL Central foes.

The Braves have gone Over in 9 of their last 12 when facing a left-handed starter.

Key Injuries - First baseman Casey Kotchman is day-to-day with a shin injury.

PROJECTED SCORE: 5 (UNDER - Total Play of the Day)

          SCOREBOARD
          Sunday, June 7

Kansas City at Toronto (1:07 p.m. EDT). The slumping Royals take on Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay, who goes for his 10th win of the season.

          STARS

          Saturday

-Tony Gwynn Jr., Padres, reached base a career-high five times and scored the go-ahead run in the six-run sixth inning as San Diego rallied to beat Arizona 6-4.

-Andre Ethier, Dodgers, hit his second homer of the game with two out in the 12th to give Los Angeles a 3-2 victory over the Phillies.

-Edwin Jackson, Tigers, threw a four-hitter for his second career complete game and Detroit ended a four-game skid with a 2-1 victory.

-Joe Dillon, Rays, hit a tiebreaking single in the ninth inning and Tampa Bay touched up Mariano Rivera for the second time this season, defeating the Yankees 9-7.

-Prince Fielder, Brewers, hit two home runs, giving Milwaukee all the offense they needed for a 3-0 win over the punchless Braves.

-Ken Griffey Jr., Mariners, drove in Ichiro Suzuki with a two-out double in the eighth, leading Seattle to a 2-1 victory over the Twins.

-Jon Lester, Red Sox, retired the first 19 batters he faced and finished with a two-hitter, and Boston beat Texas 8-1.

-John Lannan, Nationals, allowed an unearned run and four hits for his first career complete game to lead Washington over New York 7-1.

-Ian Stewart, Rockies, homered twice and matched a career high with five RBIs, and Colorado beat St. Louis 10-1.

-Jason Giambi, Athletics, hit a three-run double and Oakland won its season-best fifth straight game, 9-4 over Baltimore.

          CLOSE NO MORE

Baseball's worst pitching staff is changing closers yet again. Washington Nationals manager Manny Acta said that Joel Hanrahan has lost the wrap-up job for the second time this season. Mike MacDougal, who was working on a minor league contract a little more than a week ago, will take over the role. Hanrahan is 0-3 with a 6.84 ERA in 27 games. He started the season as the closer, was demoted to middle relief in late April, then restored as the closer in mid-May. He has allowed runs in each of his last three outings.

          NEW ADDRESS

The U.S. Postal Service, in a pre-game news conference behind home plate, officially assigned Dodger Stadium its own Zip Code - 90090. It used to be "Los Angeles, 90012.'' Organist Nancy Bea Hefley, who seems to have a song for every occasion, serenaded the crowd after the first inning with a few choruses of "I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter.''

          TURN TWO

          Washington turned franchise-record-tying five double plays - two 6-4-3s, two 4-6-3s and a head-shaking 9-3-6 - in a 7-1 win over the Mets.

          ON THE RISE

Ian Stewart homered twice in the Rockies 10-1 win over the Cardinals and is 10 for his last 17 with four straight multihit games, raising his average to .231. He leads the Rockies with 11 homers. ... Detroit's Edwin Jackson improved to 5-1 with a 0.76 ERA in his last six starts with a 2-1 complete-game victory over the Angels. He struck out five and walked one.

          KEEP IT GOING

Trevor Cahill ended a three-start losing streak with a 9-4 victory over Baltimore, giving A's starters their fifth straight win. Oakland's starters have won five in a row for the first time since May 21-27 last year.

          SOME DEBUT

Cincinnati's Matt Maloney, making his major league debut, pitched six solid innings for Cincinnati and singled in his first plate appearance. He allowed six hits and two runs with one walk and four strikeouts in a 4-3, 11-inning win.

          DOUBLE TROUBLE

Oakland's first seven hits in its 9-4 win over Baltimore were doubles and their eight two-base hits matched an A's record, done three other times and last on June 26, 2005, against San Francisco.

          SPEAKING

"It's hard not to think about it when you've got the Green Monster out there. It's in your face the whole time. I was real happy it was a well-struck ball. It wasn't an infield hit or anything like that.'' - Boston's Jon Lester, who retired the first 19 batters he faces in a 8-1 win over Texas, on the zeros for runs and hits across the Texas linescore on the left-field wall.

2007 - Curt Schilling came within one out of his first career no-hitter, losing his bid when Shannon Stewart lined a clean single to right field in Boston's 1-0 victory over the Oakland Athletics. Schilling retired Mark Ellis on a foul popup to end the third one-hitter of his career.

2007 - Joe Torre became the 10th manager in major league history to get 2,000 victories as the New York Yankees defeated the Chicago White Sox 10-3.
