Daily Sports Roundup
Sunday, June 7
Today in the Daily Sports Roundup: The Lakers try to handle the Magic for the second straight game, and NASCAR's top drivers hit the track in the Pocono 500.
Tipping off on the hardwood . . .
The Magic will be looking to bounce back from an embarrassing Game 1 defeat on Sunday night when they take the court in Los Angeles for the second game of the NBA Finals. Orlando was pounded 100-75 in the opener by the Lakers on Thursday night, with Dwight Howard scoring just 12 points and Jameer Nelson contributing six points off the bench in his return from injury. Kobe Bryant led the Los Angeles attack with 40 points in that easy victory, and Pau Gasol chipped in with 16 points. Oddsmakers have listed the Lakers as 6.5-point faves for Sunday.
Meeting up on the diamond . . .
Tim Lincecum (4-1, 3.01 ERA) will get the ball for the Giants on Sunday afternoon as they again play on the road against the Marlins. Righthander Lincecum was last tagged with a loss on April 12 vs. the Padres, but San Francisco is still just 1-3 over his last four outings. Florida counters with Ricky Nolasco (2-5, 9.07 ERA); the righty has given up 16 runs in his last 5 2-3 innings.
Also on the NL schedule for Sunday: the Cubs at Cincinnati, the Mets at Washington, Milwaukee at Atlanta, Pittsburgh at Houston, Colorado at St. Louis, and Arizona at San Diego. As well, the Dodgers will host the Phillies in the primetime matchup, with Los Angeles' Randy Wolf (3-1, 3.21 ERA) taking on Philly's Antonio Bastardo (1-0, 1.50 ERA). Bastardo won his debut on Tuesday.
Over in the American League on Sunday the Rays and Yankees continue their series in New York, with Matt Garza (4-4, 3.67 ERA) taking on Joba Chamberlain (3-1, 3.71 ERA). Also on the AL slate for Sunday: the Angels at Detroit, Kansas City at Toronto, Texas at Boston, Cleveland at the ChiSox, Baltimore at Oakland, and Minnesota at Seattle, with Kevin Slowey (8-1, 3.97 ERA) going for the Twins.
Rounding out the Roundup . . .
Pocono Raceway will host the Sprint Cup Series on Sunday, with the drivers competing in the 2009 Pocono 500. Jimmie Johnson is pegged as the 4/1 Vegas favorite to visit victory lane on Sunday, followed by Kyle Busch at 5/1, and Jeff Gordon at 7/1. Standings leader Tony Stewart is listed at 10/1 odds to get the win along with Denny Hamlin, with Carl Edwards at 12/1. Kasey Kahne, who won the 2008 Pocono 500, is pegged at 15/1 odds to repeat as the champion on Sunday.
The drivers of Formula 1 will be in Istanbul on Sunday for the Turkish Grand Prix. Brawn-Mercedes driver Jenson Button will be looking to win his fourth straight race; Button has taken the checkered flag in five of the six F1 events so far this season and holds a 16-point lead on teammate Rubens Barrichello in the drivers championship. Felipe Massa won the Turkish Grand Prix last season, with Lewis Hamilton finishing in second place, and Button ending up well back in 11th place.
Finally, the WNBA continues its 2009 opening weekend with four games on the Sunday schedule: Atlanta at Washington, Connecticut at New York, Minnesota at Indiana, and Sacramento at Seattle. Everyone but New York played on Saturday.

Write-Up

NBA Finals
Howard scored one basket in Game 1, going 1-6 from floor, 10-16 from line, so he only tried 14 shots; Orlando starters combined to go 11-46 in game from floor, so unless that gets lot better, this will be a short series. Magic forced Bryant to take 34 shots in Game 1 (no one else took more than 12), but he was 16-34, too high a percentage. Lakers were 1-1 after two games in last two series-- this isn't a must-win for Orlando, but they have to compete here at least, play a close game.

Lady Luck: Sunday's WNBA best bets
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chicago Sky at Minnesota Lynx (-2, 152.5)
The timing wasn't ideal for the Minnesota Lynx, who were forced to replace their coach just three days before the season opener.
The Lynx will play their first game under new coach Jennifer Gillom on Saturday night when they host the Chicago Sky, who enter their fourth season in the league looking for their first winning record.
Minnesota suffered its fourth straight losing season in 2008 with a 16-18 mark, but opted to bring back coach Don Zierden for a third season. The Minneapolis native, though, surprised the franchise Wednesday when he resigned to become an assistant with the Washington Wizards.
That left the Lynx in a bind, and they turned to Gillom, who played in the WNBA from 1997-2003 and was an assistant under Zierden last year.
Pick: Chicago +2
San Antonio Silver Stars at Phoenix Mercury (-2, 163)
After its first WNBA finals experience ended with a major disappointment, San Antonio has championship expectations in 2009.
The defending Western Conference champion Silver Stars open their season Saturday night at US Airways Center where they'll face a Phoenix Mercury team looking to regain its championship form.
San Antonio finished with a franchise-best 24-10 record last season, going 14-0 versus Eastern Conference teams. The Silver Stars, though, lost the first two games of the finals at home then were swept in three by the Detroit Shock.
However, with Becky Hammon, Sophia Young and Vickie Johnson back, San Antonio is targeting much more than just the league's best regular-season record and another conference championship banner.
"We're going to continue to grow and try to win a championship," Johnson said.
Hammon averaged 17.6 points and 4.9 assists per game last season while Young finished fourth in MVP voting, averaging 17.5 points and 5.6 rebounds.
The Silver Stars will be without center Ann Wauters until later in the season due to personal reasons. She scored 14.7 points per game in 2008 and was sixth in the league in rebounding (7.5).
Ruth Riley and 6-foot-8 Katie Mattera, signed in the offseason, will try to fill the void left by Wauters.
Guard Shanna Crossley is back after missing last season with a torn ACL, and Belinda Snell signed with San Antonio in the offseason after not playing in the WNBA in 2008. She averaged 3.4 points in three seasons (2005-07) with the Mercury.
Pick: San Antonio +2

This Day in Baseball
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On June 7 in Baseball History...
1932 - Pitcher John Quinn, at 47, becomes the oldest player to have an extra-base hit (a double) and bat in a run as the Dodgers beat the Cubs 9-2.
1946 - One hour before game time, Pirates players vote 20-16 in favor of a walkout rather than play against the Giants, in order to gain recognition of the American Baseball Guild. To strike, however, requires a two-thirds majority and so the walkout does not occur. Aims of organizer Robert Murphy are not exactly stated, but goals are sometimes identified as a minimum salary of $7,500, arbitration of salary disputes, and players sharing in 50 percent of any sale price.
1966 - The New York Mets, picking first in the June free-agent draft, pass up Arizona State outfielder Reggie Jackson to select catcher Steve Chilcott. Chilcott will retire after six years in the minors and will be the first number-one pick to never play in the major leagues. The A's take Jackson with the second pick.
1967 - The last-place Yankees have the first pick in the free-agent draft and use it to take Ron Blomberg. The Cubs tap shortstop Terry Hughes with the next pick. All 20 first-round picks are high school players, and only 11 will eventually reach the major leagues.
1969 - The Washington Senators name Jeff Burroughs the number one pick in the June free-agent draft. The Astros choose J.R. Richard as the second pick, and the White Sox follow with 3B Ted Nicholson. Cincinnati picks Ken Griffey on the 29th round, while Kansas City, with a record 90 picks, takes Al Cowens with their 84th choice.
1973 - The Rangers make Texas high school pitcher David Clyde the number-one pick in the free-agent draft. He will make his major league debut later this month. Dave Winfield, the number four pick, will go straight to the major leagues. Winfield was also taken in the NBA and NFL drafts. John Stearns is taken second by the Phillies, and the Brewers, picking third, take Robin Yount. Randy Scarbery becomes the first player selected twice in the first round of the regular phase of the draft when the A's take him 23rd. The Astros picked him first in 1970, but he opted for college instead.
1974 - The Padres, with their third number-one free-agent pick in five years, select Brown University shortstop Bill Almon. They had selected him three years earlier out of high school. The Rangers take pitcher Tommy Boggs with the second pick. The Red Sox, picking twientieth, take shortstop Eddie Ford, son of Whitey Ford.
1977 - The White Sox select Harold Baines with the number-one pick in the draft. Bill Veeck had first seen Baines play Little League ball and had followed his career. Pitcher Bill Gullickson is taken with the second pick by the Expos, and Milwaukee takes University of Minnesota infielder Paul Molitor with the third pick. Danny Ainge, a potential pro basketball player, is picked in the 15th round.
1982 - Steve Garvey plays in his 1,000th consecutive game and goes 0-for-4 in a 4-3 loss to the Braves. Garvey's streak is the fifth longest in major league history.
1986 - The Pirates make University of Arkansas third baseman Jeff King the first choice in the June draft. Gregg Swindell is the next pick. Neither will sign for six weeks but Swindell will be in the major leagues after just three starts in the minors. Bo Jackson is taken in the fourth round by the Royals and College Pitcher of the Year Mike Loynd is taken by Texas in the seventh round.
1994 - A's outfielder Rickey Henderson steals his 1,100th career base.

Sunday Night Baseball: Philadelphia at Los Angeles
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Philadelphia Phillies at Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers conclude their four-game series with the Phillies at Chavez Ravine on ESPN Sunday night in a battle of National League pennant contenders.
Los Angeles sends veteran Randy Wolf (3-1 3.21 ERA) to the hill against young phenom Antonio Bastardo (1-0 1.50 ERA) in tonight’s showdown of southpaws.
Something’s gotta give
Entering this series, the Phils owned the best road record in the majors at 19-6. On the flip side, the Dodgers 20-6 mark at the Ravine was the best home record in MLB this season.
It’s why both clubs come into this series as the only two teams in the Senior circuit 10-plus games over .500.
Bud light
As reported here last week, there is a major push in La-La Land to put Manny Ramirez in a starting spot on this year’s All-Star roster.
Word out of Los Angeles has him sitting in fourth place among National League outfielders in All-Star votes.
Isn’t it time MLB commissioner Bud Selig imposes a ban on drug-users from the All-Star game? This corner thinks so.
C’mon, Bud. It’s time you step out the opposite direction of your steroid-using cast and grow a set on stones. Help dispel the notion that MLB empowers cheaters by not allowing this travesty to occur.
Dichotomizing lefties
From the opposite coasts of which their teams reside, to the ‘stuff’’ they serve, to the generation that separates them, L.A.’s Wolf and Philadelphia’s Bastardo as opposite as a pair of lefthanders can possibly be.
Wolf, a 32-year-old former Philly, tosses in the mid-80’s and relies on savvy and experience. His counterpart, 23-year-old Bastardo, puts his faith and trust in his fastball, one that arrives at the plate between 90 and 95 mph.
In his most recent start Tuesday, Wolf allowed a grand slam and left the game trailing 5-1 against the Diamondbacks in Arizona. He got off the hook for the loss when Los Angeles rallied for a 6-5 win.
It should be noted that Brad Ausmus started behind the plate for Wolf, one night after regular catcher Russell Martin was besieged with a franchise record-tying five wild pitches thrown by relievers Cory Wade and Brent Leach.
Martin caught Wolf in all of his 11 previous starts, and the change apparently affected the veteran southpaw when he retired only five of his first 12 batters and allowed five runs.
As a result Wolf got his eighth no-decision in 12 outings this season. He had allowed no more than two earned runs in five of his previous six starts. The lefty always seems to start the season strong, only to eventually succumb to injuries and fatigue usually later in the campaign.
Bastardo was 3-2 with a 1.89 ERA in 11 games at Double-A Reading and Triple-A Lehigh Valley this season. He replaced Brett Myers, who underwent surgery to repair bone spurs and a torn labrum in his right hip. Myers is likely done for the season.
"He did a super job,'' manager Charlie Manuel told reporters, "but he did it with one pitch.''
That was his fastball.
"He's got such a good arm," Sal Agostinelli, Phillies’ international scouting supervisor, said. "His arm is electric. He just needs to get the breaking ball going and use the changeup a little more."
Glancing in the past
Prior to the start of this series, despite dropping 2-of-3 games at home in Philadelphia earlier this season, the defending World Series champs had won nine of the previous 12 games between these two teams,
The Dodgers, on the other hand, owned wins in six of the previous eight gatherings with the Phils in Los Angeles.
Philadelphia loves performing on Sundays where it is 19-4 the past twenty-three games, including 10-2 on the road.

Pick ‘n’ Roll: NBA best bet
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Orlando Magic at Los Angeles Lakers (-6.5, 202)
With the WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks opening their season at Staples Center, both teams had to work out at the Lakers' training facility on Saturday.
As the Magic shot around on L.A.'s practice floor, they could look up and see eight of the 14 Larry O'Brien Trophies won by the Lakers lined up side by side behind a second-floor window overlooking the court. It's an imposing sight for a franchise which has been to the finals just twice, has yet to win a game in either visit and got blown out in Game 1.
Van Gundy has reminded his players that they can get back in the series. Orlando shot just 30 percent from the field and center Dwight Howard made only one field goal.
The Magic have spent the entire season in comeback mode. It's time to rally again.
''We've been through it,'' said Van Gundy, who plans to keep his rotations intact for Game 2. ''As the playoffs have gone on, I'm given them history lessons of just about anything that can happen in the playoffs, people being blown out at times. All of us were upset with our performances the other night; I wasn't happy with mine, I don't think they were happy with theirs. We're anxious to get back at it.''
Pick: Over 202

Six-pack for Sunday
-- As of Thursday night, there were 135 players on the disabled list; using my astounding math skills, thats 4.5 injured guys per team.
-- Belmont entrant Chocolate Candy is owned by the Jenny Craig diet company that helps people lose weight.
-- They had crowd of 52,861 at Belmont Park Saturday; next weekend, it'll be back to more like 2.861
-- Geoff Ogilvy jumped from T57 to T5 with his 63 at the Memorial Saturday; no one else in the field shot better than 68.
-- Red Wings clubbed the Penguins Saturday, are one way away from another Stanley Cup title. Home team is 5-0 so far in this series.
-- 2008 Mets were the first team since the '68 Cubs to have four guys who started in 158+ games-- this year's Mets? Not so much.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sunday's List of 13: Wrapping up a baseball Saturday......
13) Rafael Furcal pinch-hit a ninth inning HR to tie game, then Ethier hit his second homer of game to win it in the 12th as Dodgers rallied to beat the Phillies for the second consecutive day.
12) Nationals whacked John Maine around, Lannan got 19 ground ball outs in Washington's weekly win, a 7-1 triumph over the erratic Mets.
11) Astros are 24-30, despite their 2-3-4 batters hitting .356/.347/.321.
10) Jon Lester retired the first 19 Rangers, Boston won easily 8-1.
9) Ben Zobrist homered and tripled as Tampa Bay won a sloppy game 9-7 in the Bronx, scoring four runs in the ninth off Rivera.
8) Both teams lost their DH during the game; wonder when the last time both teams lost their DH during a nine-inning game.
7) Trevor Cahill pitched six solid innings, as Oakland won its fifth game in a row, 9-4 over the slumping Orioles. Young A's rotation has had an excellent week-- four of the five starters being rookies.
6) Baltimore's Luke Scott is on fire; he has 10 HRs in his last 18 games.
5) Series in Detroit, Seattle have both been split so far this weekend; all four games have been 2-1 scores. Offense seems to be down this year.
4) Detroit's Edwin Jackson is 6-3, 2.16 after being overlooked last fall in the playoffs by Tampa Bay, and subsequently traded-- he could have an All-Star Game in his immediate future, if his next month is a good one.
3) Arizona's Max Scherzer is NL's version of Scott Kazmir-- he blanked the Padres for five innings Saturday, but had to leave game because in his five innings he threw an uneconomical 104 pitches.
2) There were three complete games Saturday, a lot for one day, while two other starters finished the 8th inning. The Met game was so boring they got talking about the 1980-81 A's, because Steve McCatty is now Washington's pitching coach. Those A's had 90 complete games in '80 and 60 (in shortened 104-game season) in '81, then all the starters' arms fell off in '82 and '83, as Billy Martin scampered back to the Bronx.
1) Whomever signs Matt Holliday next winter is getting one excellent ballplayer-- for my fantasy team's sake, I'm hoping Boston or Philly or the Cubs, but if I had to wager on it, I'd say he winds up in Anaheim.

Hot Lines: Sunday's best MLB bets
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chicago Cubs at Cincinnati Reds (+100, 8.5)
The Chicago Cubs rode a high-powered lineup to a second consecutive NL Central title last season. This year, a sputtering offense has them trailing three teams in the division.
The Cubs again look to snap out of their funk and avoid losing for the ninth time in 11 road games Sunday in the finale of a three-game set against the Cincinnati Reds.
After winning 2-1 Friday, Chicago (27-26) lost 4-3 in 11 innings Saturday - its third extra-inning game in its last four. The Cubs dropped 4 1/2 games back of division-leading Milwaukee and trail third-place Cincinnati (29-26) by one.
The Cubs, who led the NL with 855 runs last season have plated the fourth-fewest in the league this year with just 231. They're 0 for 17 with runners in scoring position in the first two games of this series and have scored only 18 runs in their last 10 away from Wrigley Field - winning only two.
It won't be easy against Bronson Arroyo (7-4, 5.37 ERA).
Arroyo posted a 3.44 ERA in winning all three starts against the Cubs last season, and is 3-2 with a 2.27 ERA in seven career outings versus them at Great American Ball Park.
The right-hander has been outstanding in Cincinnati lately, yielding just two runs in 17 innings in winning his last two there.
On Tuesday in St. Louis, Arroyo gave up five runs and seven hits in 5 1-3 innings of a 5-2 loss.
The Cubs' Randy Wells (0-2, 1.69), meanwhile, is still seeking his first career win.
In his first four starts, a lack of offense - just six total runs of support - has kept him out of the win column. But on Tuesday in Atlanta, a bullpen meltdown was the culprit.
Pick: Cincinnati
Philadelphia Phillies at Los Angeles Dodgers (-135, 8)
Brad Lidge was on the mound to end both of Philadelphia's wins at Dodger Stadium in October, closing out Los Angeles in five games as the Phillies won the NL pennant en route to their first World Series title in 28 years.
If the same Lidge were in southern California this weekend, the Phillies may be on the cusp of a 10-game winning streak.
Instead, they'll try to avoid a third straight loss to the Dodgers when they close the four-game series between the teams with the league's best records Sunday night, with Los Angeles still buzzing after a second straight walk-off hit by Andre Ethier.
Philadelphia (32-22) had won seven in a row, including the series opener, when Lidge entered Friday's game with a 3-2 lead in the ninth inning. But a hit, a walk and an error - all with two outs - preceded Ethier's game-winning two-run double.
Including postseason, Lidge converted all 48 of his save opportunities in his first season with the Phillies in 2008, and three of them came during the NL championship series against the Dodgers. But he already has blown six of 19 chances this year and has a 7.27 ERA.
He could be unavailable Sunday for Philadelphia, which has not lost three in a row since April 16-18.
The Dodgers (39-19), meanwhile, will be looking to become the first team in baseball to reach 40 wins. They haven't earned their 40th win before their 60th game since 1983.
Although the team still leads the NL with 303 runs, Los Angeles' offensive pace has slowed lately and the team's pitchers have picked up the slack. The staff's 3.57 ERA is the best in the majors, and Randy Wolf (3-1, 3.21 ERA) has helped that number.
Wolf spent his first eight seasons with Philadelphia and won 69 games, but he earned his first victory against his former team last month.
The left-hander was impressive at Citizens Bank Park, allowing three hits and a run and striking out eight in six innings of the Dodgers' 9-2 win May 13. He has a 2.25 ERA in two starts against the Phillies, who dropped two of three to the Dodgers last month.
Wolf wasn't as sharp in his most recent start Tuesday against Arizona, but he hasn't lost in 11 starts since losing his season debut. The longest unbeaten stretch of his career within one season came in 2006, when he didn't lose any of his 12 starts in his final year with the Phillies.
Los Angeles will be trying to deal Phillies southpaw Antonio Bastardo his first major league loss. Undrafted just two years ago, Bastardo has joined Philadelphia's rotation in place of the injured Brett Myers, and he beat San Diego with six strong innings in his big-league debut Tuesday.
After compiling a 1.90 ERA in the minors this year, Bastardo (1-0, 1.50) allowed four hits, one walk and one run, striking out five in the Phillies' 10-5 victory.
Pick: Phillies

Streaking and Slumping Pitchers
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Streaking
Roy Halladay, Toronto Blue Jays
After witnessing his main competition for the AL Cy Young Award falter in the opener of this series, Toronto Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay will try to avoid the same fate Sunday against the visiting Kansas City Royals.
Halladay will also look to become the major league's first 10-game winner when the Blue Jays wrap up a three-game set with the Royals.
Kansas City's Zack Greinke, who has a major league-best 1.55 ERA, was tagged for a season-high seven runs - five earned - in Toronto's 9-3 win Friday, but the Royals bounced back with Saturday's 6-2 victory to snap a season-worst eight-game slide.
To finish with a winning record on their nine-game homestand, the Blue Jays (31-27) will look to Halladay (9-1, 2.77 ERA) to give them yet another strong performance. In his second complete game of the season Tuesday night, the 2003 Cy Young winner recorded a career-high 14 strikeouts in a 6-4 home victory against the Los Angeles Angels and moved ahead of Greinke for the major league lead in victories.
While winning his sixth straight decision and throwing a career-high 133 pitches, Halladay allowed four runs - all in the seventh inning - and seven singles.
"What he's able to do with that baseball, it's like playing a video game for me," catcher Rob Barajas told the Blue Jays' official Web site. "You know the man is going to go out there and execute his pitches. He's some kind of special."
Halladay, 8-3 in 13 starts against Kansas City, has three complete-game victories and a 1.32 ERA in his last four matchups with the Royals. The Blue Jays gave him zero runs of support during the only loss in that span, but Halladay didn't need much support last season against Kansas City at Rogers Centre as he allowed one run and four singles over nine innings.
Erik Bedard, Seattle Mariners
Over the past month, Seattle Mariners left-hander Erik Bedard has been one of the toughest pitchers in the majors. He hasn't, however, had the same success against the Minnesota Twins in his career.
Bedard looks to win three consecutive starts for the first time in nearly two years with his first career victory over the Twins in Sunday's finale at Safeco Field.
After making 15 starts during an injury-plagued 2008 season that ended in July because of shoulder problems, Bedard (4-2, 2.37 ERA) is finally pitching the way the Mariners (27-29) envisioned when they acquired him from Baltimore in a six-player deal in February 2008.
The left-hander has yielded two runs or less in each of his last five starts and has the majors' sixth-best ERA. He's trying to win three consecutive starts for the first time since reeling off six straight from June 21-Aug. 5, 2007, with the Orioles.
On Tuesday, Bedard allowed one run and four hits with seven strikeouts in 6 1-3 innings of an 8-2 win over Baltimore, his first appearance against his former team.
Slumping
Manny Parra, Milwaukee Brewers
The Braves seem to have a good chance at ending their problems at the plate as they face struggling Brewers starter Manny Parra (3-7, 6.75 ERA). The left-hander has lost three straight outings, allowing 22 runs and 26 hits in 14 innings.
Parra gave up a career-high 10 runs and 11 hits in four innings during Milwaukee's 10-3 loss to Florida on Tuesday night. This will be his first appearance against Atlanta.
Debuting
Tommy Hanson, Atlanta Braves
If Tommy Hanson becomes the next great Atlanta Braves pitcher, he may want to be wary of club management during the twilight of his career.
In a game Tom Glavine had been expected to start, Hanson makes his much-anticipated major league debut as the Braves try to salvage the finale of a three-game series with the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday.
Hanson, considered Atlanta's top pitching prospect of the decade, will get a chance in the majors after dominating at every level in the minor leagues.
"I just want to get out there and get going," the 22-year-old Hanson said. "I want to get that first batter out of the way and get the first inning out of the way and then go from there."
In 11 starts at Triple-A Gwinnett this year, Hanson had a 1.49 ERA while striking out 90 in 66 1-3 innings and allowing 40 hits. The 6-foot-6 right-hander posted a 0.90 ERA in seven starts at Class A Myrtle Beach in 2008 to earn a promotion to Double-A Mississippi, where he threw a no-hitter in his ninth start and went 8-4 with a 3.03 ERA in 18 outings.
The hype only grew after he became the first pitcher to be named MVP of the hitter-friendly Arizona Fall League, going 5-0 with a 0.63 ERA and 49 strikeouts in 28 2-3 innings.
