Big Papi could be one of the cover boys for the steroid era. Compare his stats when he was with the Twins and the stats he put up the first 5 years he was with boston and the difference in production was like night and day.
I don't know what any of the Dominican Republic players situations were like over there, but I'm assuming that some of them were dirt poor. Can you really blame someone who's poor, for taking steroids and becoming rich and famous? Sosa, Soriano, Manny, Papi, Pujols, Vlad, Tejada etc etc
Bud Selig's over there making 18 million talking about how steriods is ruining his beloved game. While people are starving to death. Do you think those DR players really give a shit about the history of baseball?
I am not judging him because if I was a player in the late 90s and early this decade I would have done the same. Just explaining why his production fell off so dramatically.
