  • MLB no lead is safe

The way baseball is now played no lead is safe until the proverbial fat lady sings. I've never seen more leads and big leads blown. The state of relief pitching it terrible.

    Yesterday's schedule was amazing.

Cubs up 3-0 fall behind 5-2 then tie it up. Fall behind again 7-5 before winning in the 8th.

Mets up 3-0 in the 1st fall behind 4-3 win 5-4 in the 9th.

Nats up 2-1 most of the game give up runs in the 9th and 10th to lose.

    Phillies up 5-0 and 7-1 lose 8-7.

Reds behine 1-0 score 2 in the top of 9th to win.

Dodgers behind 3-0 in the first score 4 in the 7th to win 7-3.

Yanks and Indians changed the lead 4 times.

Blue Jays up 5-1 go on to lose 8-5.

Orioles have 7-0 and 8-5 lead lose 10-8.

    Chisox down 5-2 lose 6-5.

    Angels up 8-3 and 9-4 lose 11-9.

Tigers jump out to a 3-0 lead in the 2nd don't score another run losing 6-3.

    UNBELIEVABLE!

I agree back in the old days pitchers would pitch 9 and we would not have to worry about a specialty pitcher like a set up man or a closer.the starter just goes 9 and thats just it.

See Nationals, Washington....lose ML and RL after leading by 5 runs and even 6-3 in the 9th. Unbelievable...

Today's lead of 15-2 of Cleveland over the Yankees is safe, thats for sure!
ps I will voluntarily ban myself from posting anything in this forum for one year if Yanks win this game.

The Orioles one was brutal. 7-0 after the top of the 2nd. I leave to the beach, come back and its 8-8 and the rest is history.

Pitching is a major problem in baseball and has been for years. If a pitcher can give you 5 innings its a good thing. Back in the good days pitchers would go 7 strong innings. And if you go back to the really old days guys would through 9 innings. IMO there are a lot of pitchers that wouldn't even be in the big leagues if it wasn't for a lack of talent.
