The kennel was heated by a wood stove. Somehow some of the ashes came out of it and he noticed them on some hay about 15 feet from the woodstove. He ran over to put it out and realized it wasn't happening. He told the wife to run in and call 911 and he turned his attention to getting the dogs out. They live on a farm with alot of heavy equipment and his family lives close by. They were all trying to move the equipment and stuff too. Fire Departments from 4 towns fought the blaze but the 1st one there missed the drive way and flipped the fire truck right over in the ditch blocking the drive way for the others. It was horrible.

Mike, about 20 of the puppies that he set free were all found out back of the Kennel after the dust cleared. They were all pretty much cuddled up together and dead in the field. They said they did get out but died from too much smoke inhalation while they were in there. Just heart breaking.

That is just brutal. I'm sure he is feeling terrible. Hopefully he isn't being too hard on himself. Just a terrible situation.

It is probably a stupid move leaving Johnson out but winning 4 straight at one track is VERY tough to do and his odds simply suck. I've had the winner in 3 straight races and i'll risk 5 Units on this one to make it 4!
