Individual stats for pitchers from last year will be used until we have enough numbers to use properly from this season's games. Remember, these stats are from last season.

                ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pick 'n' Roll: Tuesday's best NBA bets
                ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New York Knicks at Chicago Bulls (-8, 219)

The Bulls are on the verge of officially clinching a playoff spot and still have a shot of catching the Pistons for the seventh seed in the East.

''It's good to have a chance to finish seventh,'' Bulls forward John Salmons said. ''You are not the last team in, and mentally it does make a difference.''

The Bulls, no doubt, would love to avoid playing LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round too.

The month of March has been kind to Chicago. The club was fifth in league scoring, field-goal percentage, third in 3-point percentage and fourth in free-throw percentage.

Salmons missed last Wednesday’s game with a sore groin but returned for Saturday’s win over New Jersey with 17 points. He admits he will be playing in pain the rest of the season.

                Pick: Chicago

                Philadelphia 76ers at Charlotte Bobcats (-5, 185)

The Bobcats suffered a crushing loss Sunday at Detroit that probably kills their hopes. Even if they win out, the playoffs are more than likely a pipedream.

It’s not clear if the Bobcats will have guard Raja Bell after he missed the Detroit game with a calf injury. Bell is averaging 13 points since being acquired from Phoenix in December and is Charlotte's top defensive player. Bell is officially day-to-day, although coach Larry Brown said he could be done for the year.

Charlotte has covered seven of the past eight at home against Philly and is 3-0 (2-1 ATS) against the Sixers this year.

                Pick: Charlotte.

Hot Lines: Tuesday's best MLB bets

                  ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Milwaukee Brewers at San Francisco Giants (-160, 7)

There wasn’t much for Giants fans to cheer about last season, but the one good thing takes the mound on Tuesday. Tim Lincecum proved to be bigger than the hype surrounding him after a remarkable 2008 campaign that was capped with a Cy Young trophy.

The 170-pound righty signed a one-year $650, 000 contract but is due for a hefty raise.

“I don’t think it’s a distraction because my agent is handling it,” Lincecum told the San Jose Mercury News about the long-term contract negotiations. “I’ll just be the guy who finds out.”

Jeff Suppan might be the biggest no-name pitcher to start on opening day ever, but that’s what happens when your rotation loses its best two starters. The Brewers are left with few options after CC Sabathia and Ben Sheets flew the coup.

Suppan shouldn’t have too much trouble against the Giants’ light-hitting lineup, especially in the spacious AT&T Park.

                  Pick: Under

Atlanta Braves at Philadelphia Phillies (-120, 8.5)

The Braves crashed Philly’s World Series celebrations on opening night at Citizens Bank Part by handing the Phils a 4-1 loss. Free agent pickup Derek Lowe shutdown the defending champs and the Braves hope Jair Jurrjens can repeat Lowe’s performance.

Jurrjens was Atlanta’s most consistent hurler last season and is being rewarded with the No. 2 spot in the rotation.

Braves manager Bobby Cox had to be happy to see sluggers Brian McCann and Jeff Francoeur go deep Sunday night. Atlanta, which clubbed out three home runs Sunday, had the third fewest amount of big flies the National League last season.

Look for the Braves to take apart the ancient Jamie Moyer and steal the series win.

                  Pick: Braves

                    [b]Ice picks: Tuesday's best NHL bets[b]
                    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Florida Panthers at Philadelphia Flyers (-170, 5.5)

The Panthers are fighting for their first playoff berth in nine years. They racked up a huge win over the Pittsburgh Penguins Sunday pulling them into a tie with the New York Rangers for eighth place in the Eastern Conference standings.

The 4-2 win was aided by Keith Ballard’s big hit on Evgeni Malkin which led to a Sidney Crosby fight during the first period.

“That Ballard hit really changed the momentum of the game,” David Booth, who scored for Florida in the second period, told reporters. “We were getting outshot pretty bad there. To get the crowd into it, especially on a big star player in the NHL against Malkin, really got the team into it.”

Florida will need to come out strong once again tonight against the Flyers. The Philly still hasn't clinched a playoff spot even though it sits in fourth place. The club has struggled a bit recently losing four of its last six.

The Panthers have won three of the last four meetings against Philly and will be fired up for this must-win matchup.

                    Pick: Panthers

Chicago Blackhawks at Nashville Predators (-110, 5.5)

The Nashville Predators also find themselves in a tight race for a playoff spot. They're tied with the St. Louis Blues for the eighth spot in the Western Conference. With three games remaining on the schedule, the Predators know they need to play flawless hockey every night.

“This is really going to come down to the wire,” Predators goalie Pekka Rinne said. “It is such an exciting time, but it’s going to take everything we have to finish this regular season strong. This is why we play hockey. This is where everything is at stake and this is where everything counts.”

Nashvile captain Jason Arnott just came back from an injury had him sidelined since March 10th. Arnott earned two goals and an assists in Saturday’s 5-4 shootout win over Columbus.

The Blackhawks also managed to escape from Columbus with a 1-0 overtime win Sunday, earning them their third straight victory. Nikolai Khabibulin was in top form making 20 stops on his way to his 40th career shutout. But the win was also Chicago’s first road win in six tries.

Look for the desperate Predators to take advantage of Chicago’s shakiness on foreign ice.

                    Pick: Predators
