Today in the Daily Sports Roundup: Duke takes on Clemson in ACC action, Kobe Bryant and the Lakers arrive in Toronto, and the Flyers get a visit from the Bruins.

Tipping Off in the NBA

The Lakers will be without Andrew Bynum for the next two-to-three months with a knee injury, but that didn't matter on Monday night when Kobe Bryant poured in 61 points in the team's 126-117 road win over the Knicks. Los Angeles (38-9 SU, 24-23 ATS) will take on another Atlantic Division opponent on Wednesday night when they play in Toronto. The Raptors sit at 19-30 SU and 19-28-2 ATS so far.

There are 10 other games on a busy NBA schedule for Wednesday night, including LeBron James and his Cavaliers on the road in New York. Rounding out the slate: New Jersey at Washington, the Clippers at Orlando, Miami at Detroit, Denver at Oklahoma City, Chicago at New Orleans, Atlanta at Minnesota, Houston at Memphis, Portland at Dallas, & Phoenix at Golden State.

The March to Madness

Last week's loss to Wake Forest dropped Duke to No. 4 in the Top 25 poll, so they'll try to bolster themselves on Wednesday with a win on the road against No. 10 Clemson. The Blue Devils got past Virginia 79-54 on Sunday, with Gerald Henderson scoring 18 points; they're now at 19-2 SU and 11-8-1 ATS. Clemson (18-2 SU, 7-7-1 ATS) is coming off an 86-82 win over Virginia Tech last contest.

There's one other ranked matchup on the college hoops schedule for Wednesday, with No. 13 Michigan State hosting No. 19 Minnesota. As well, it's West Virginia at No. 20 Syracuse, No. 7 Wake Forest at Miami, No. 17 Villanova at Providence, No. 14 Memphis at SMU, Texas A&M at No. 2 Oklahoma, and Missouri at No. 16 Texas, while Southern Cal hits the road to play No. 15 UCLA.

A Trip Around the Rink

Coming off a 3-1 win over the rival Canadiens in Montreal on Sunday afternoon, the Bruins will be gunning for another big Eastern Conference victory on Wednesday when they travel to Philadelphia. Marc Savard scored his 20th goal of the season and Tim Thomas made 27 saves in Boston's win in Montreal. The Flyers, meanwhile, were blanked 4-0 by the Blues in their last game on Saturday.

The Red Wings got back into the win column on Monday by beating the Blues, and they'll try to stay on a roll on Wednesday when they host the Coyotes. As well, Toronto will travel to Buffalo to take on the Sabres, while Pittsburgh gets a visit from Tampa Bay, and the Ducks will hit the road for a matchup in Minnesota.

Rounding Out the Slate

Unemployed outfielder Manny Ramirez has reportedly been offered a one-year, $25 million contract from the Dodgers, but is still holding out for a better deal. Vegas has Los Angeles at 10/1 odds to win the 2009 World Series, which puts them behind the Yankees (11/4), Cubs (11/2), Red Sox (15/2), and Phillies (17/2). The Mets, another rumored suitor for Ramirez, are pegged at 10/1 World Series odds as spring training approaches, with the Rays just behind them at 12/1 odds. The other L.A. club, the Angels, sits at 13/1 odds on the list right now.

Wednesday's List of 13: Top destinations for baseball free agents.....

Minor Leagues-- Las Vegas is America's favorite city on a normal day, but when you compare it to minor league cities, its even better. No idea what city is #2, but Vegas is by far the best minor league city in America.

13) San Diego-- For pitchers only. Great weather, big ballpark, new owner Eli Manning is the only guy who doesn't want to play in San Diego.

12) Colorado-- For hitters only. Wouldn't you like to see Ryan Howard or Manny Ramirez sign with the Rockies and see what kind of numbers he could put up? Everyone wants their fantasy team's hitters in Coors Field.

11) Wrigley Field-- Haven't won in 100 years, but they still pack fans in every day; play lot of day games, so lots of time for fun at night. Plus, you get to hear celebrities sing Take Me Out to the Ballgame.

10) New York City-- Lots of money, lots of attention, two new ballparks. Main problem is that expectations are too high, so negativity creeps in and things can become a little too pressurized. Plus, if you sign up with Bronx, all the best looking strippers already want to be with A-Rod.

9) Philadelphia-- Only for hitters. Great ballpark, avid fans. Just win every 28 years or so and things will be fine.

8) Houston-- Again, for hitters only. Great park, seems like cool place to live, and you are inside on hot days-- they survived Ty Wigginton's curse last year, so this must be a pretty solid franchise.

7) Milwaukee-- Domed stadium, they seem to have some money now, you get to see Sausage Race 81 times a year, plus you get to meet Bob Uecker. They had their first winning season in 16 years last year, things seem to be on the way up in Beer Town.

6) Washington DC-- They're throwing lot of money around this winter; so far, no one is taking it. Eventually, this franchise will become attractive to pitchers because the ballpark is big and there's no DH in the NL.

5) Arizona-- Great weather, a dome for hot days, a swimming pool out in right-center field. That said, there's a lot of competition for entertainment dollar in the desert, so they have to work hard to attract fans. Maybe they just won too early-- people got spoiled.

4) Los Angeles-- Proof that you don't need a new ballpark to have a great ballpark. Great weather, and if you screw up in the first inning, half of the fans won't see it, because they haven't gotten to their seats yet.

3) St. Louis-- Very positive place, they love their baseball; have tradition, as in ten World Series titles, second-most ever. They draw great crowds, crowds who wear a lot of red. Great baseball city.

2) Boston-- Hitters' park, rabid fans, sold out every night. They spend lot of money, are creative in making money. A Tuesday night game in August will get nine pages of coverage in Wednesday's paper. Very rabid fans.

1) Anaheim-- Who wouldn't want to play down street from Disneyland? Great weather, great manager, great owner, they pack the house for every game-- one thing is that they don't throw money around stupidly, so guys who want to get overpaid might have to go elsewhere. See Teixeira, Mark.

Miami Heat at Detroit Pistons (-3.5, 181.5)

It's been a rough couple of weeks for the Pistons.

Detroit is 1-4 in its last five and has dropped seven of its last 10 overall. Last month marked the club’s first losing month in eight seasons.

But good things are on the horizon in the Motor City.

Detroit is 6-1 in its last seven against Miami, dating back to 2006. In their final meeting last season, the Heat were hammered 91-75 by the Pistons and got their first taste of Rodney Stuckey.

Stuckey dropped 19 on Miami that day and has only improved since becoming one of Detroit's most consistent players this campaign.

Miami, meanwhile, has lost three straight and is just 11-11-1 against the spread (ATS) on the road.

Phoenix Suns at Golden State Warriors (+3, 229)

Phoenix has lost seven of its last 10 overall but not due to a lack of effort from Shaquille O'Neal.

Shaq is putting up 20 points and eight rebounds a night in his last 10 and was recently selected to represent his club in the All-Star game.

"Last year, I was banged up and really didn't play many games and didn't deserve it," O'Neal told reporters after being named an All-Star reserve. "I have always been the type of player that likes to earn what I am getting."

Golden State, meanwhile, is the league's worst defensive club, conceding more than 111 points per outing. Warriors center Andris Biedrins hasn't had much personal success against Shaq, who outweighs him by 80 pounds.

In their last meeting, Shaq compiled 19 points and 15 boards against Biedrins. Phoenix won the contest 122-116.

Notes on the best of today's games.............

Ball State is 4-1 vs spread as MAC underdog; they're 1-2 on MAC road losing by 6-4 points. Cardinals held three of last four opponents under 39% from floor- they allowed 47.4 ppg in MAC wins, 71-62 in losses. Miami OH won four of last five games, but split its four home games in MAC play-- four of their five MAC wins are by 11+ points.

Syracuse lost last three games by 18-10-6 points; three of their last five opponents shot 50%+ from floor, but Orange are 3-1 as Big East home favorite, losing to Louisville, but winning games by 24-17-19 pts. West Virginia is 4-4 in Big East, 2-1 as road dog- visitor is 6-2 vs spread in its Big East games. Favorite covered three of last four series games.
