    Ice Picks: NHL Bets
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pittsburgh Penguins at Montréal Canadiens (-150, 6)

This should be a great matchup between two of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. Instead, we will be watching two struggling teams in desperate need of a win.
Pittsburgh has to be one of the season’s most disappointing teams. After going all the way to the Stanley Cup finals last June, fighting just to stay in the playoff chase. According to the Pittsburgh players, consistency is what they need to focus on if they want to spark a late-season surge.

“Obviously, we want to play our best hockey every night,” forward Max Talbot told reporters. “Every time we go on the ice, we need each line to contribute. We can’t always ask Sid and Geno to do everything.” Fortunately for the Penguins, they face a short-handed Habs team.

Montréal counts six injured players including its second-leading scorer Robert Lang who is out for the season after tearing his Achilles tendon in Sunday’s game against the Bruins. The Canadiens have lost five of their last six and things don’t seem to be looking up for them.

    Pick: Penguins

Carolina Hurricanes at Vancouver Canucks (-145, 5.5)

It’s been a harsh return to reality for the Vancouver fans. Some had hoped the addition of Mats Sundin would lead their team to a Stanley Cup, but the former Leafs captain has become a liability on the ice.

Sundin has two goals, one assist, a minus-six rating and 16 penalty minutes in nine games played with the Canucks. Even head coach Alain Vigneault is visibly frustrated with the way the Swedish center has been performing.

“Mats is working, but he needs to find a way to play better,” Vigneault told the Vancouver Sun. “It’s that simple. Mats is not the reason we’re in this tough time now but Mats needs to find his game and he needs to play better.”

The Canucks are riding an eight-game losing streak and have dropped a franchise-high nine straight home dates. Carolina, on the other hand, has been playing much better lately winning four of its last five.

    Pick: Hurricanes

#13 Purdue at Ohio State [ESPN | 7 PM ET]

Purdue (-2, O/U 128): The Boilermakers will be going for their seventh straight win overall but have a rather large obstacle in front of them at Columbus. They have not won in their last nine trips to Ohio State and are hoping to continue their strong run following an impressive win over Michigan on Saturday. Purdue trailed the Wolverines by one point at halftime but outscored them 42-23 in the second half for a 67-49 victory. “I told our guys that this was a gut-check game,” Boilermakers head coach Matt Painter said. “We’ve been in tough, pressure situations before, and I’m proud of my guys.”’

Purdue is 13-5-1 ATS in its last 19 road games.
The OVER is 6-2 in Purdue's last 8 games overall.

                      Key Injuries - NONE

                      PROJECTED SCORE: 62

Ohio State: The Buckeyes will be counting on Evan Turner to build off a strong stretch in which he was named Big Ten Player of the Week. Turner has averaged 24 points in his last three games in leading his team to a 2-1 mark. Unfortunately, Ohio State's lone loss during that stretch came against #9 Michigan State at home. That setback dropped the Buckeyes to just 1-4 in their last five games against ranked teams from the Big Ten. Ohio State is 3-0 in its other conference home games this season.

Ohio State is 11-3-1 ATS in the last 15 meetings.
The OVER is 3-1 in Ohio State's last 4 home games.

Key Injuries - G David Lighty (foot) is OUT.

PROJECTED SCORE: 66 (Side Play of the Day)

South Carolina at Florida [ESPN | 9 PM ET]

South Carolina: The Gamecocks find themselves in an unlikely position heading into this nationally televised matchup with Florida following a stunning win at Kentucky on Saturday - tied with the Gators and Wildcats atop the SEC East. “We’ve been pretty fortunate,” South Carolina head coach Darrin Horn said . “We’ve been involved in the kind of games that can literally go either way. Sometimes you get the ball last and make a play and the other team doesn’t. Our guys are giving good effort and they’re playing well together."

Underdog is 7-2-1 ATS in the last 10 meetings.
The UNDER is 7-2 in the last 9 meetings.

Key Injuries - G Branden Conrad (foot) is OUT.

PROJECTED SCORE: 67 (UNDER - Total Play of the Day)

Florida (-8.5, O/U 151.5): The Gators will be trying to rebound from a rough 79-63 loss at Tennessee on Saturday and avoid a similar collapse from a year ago. Florida went 3-8 last February to miss out on the NCAA tournament following back-to-back national championships, and the players are confident there will not be a repeat. “People can talk all they want, but we’re a 10-times better team than last year,” Gators sophomore forward Chandler Parsons. “We’ve just got to learn from this and make some progress because we play South Carolina next, and they’re a very good team.”

Florida is 5-13 ATS in its last 18 home games.
The UNDER is 6-2 in Florida's last 8 games overall.

                      Key Injuries - NONE

San Antonio Spurs at Denver Nuggets [9 PM ET]

Spurs: San Antonio has gone 35-13 on its "rodeo" road trip since the 2002-03 season and will be going for its ninth win in 10 games on Tuesday. The Spurs are coming off a 110-105 overtime victory at Golden State on Monday despite Tim Duncan fouling out. Duncan scored 32 points and was matched my Manu Ginobili, who is 35-of-36 from the free-throw line in the last three games. “(Ginobili) is really finding his stride and been playing great the last five or six games,” Duncan said. “It looks like he’s feeling good about it and is getting back to the basket a lot more which is only going to help us.”

Spurs are 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings.
The UNDER is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings.

Nuggets (-4.5, O/U 198.5): Denver got star Carmelo Anthony back on Friday and responded with a 110-99 win over Charlotte as he scored 19 points and dished out five assists in 30 minutes of action. Anthony missed 10 games with a broken hand and went 6-4 during that stretch. “It felt pretty good,” Anthony said. “It’s still a little tender. That’s going to be something that I have to fight through.” Linas Kleiza stepped up in Anthony's absence, averaging nearly five more points per game (14.6) and totaling 21 in his return against the Bobcats.

Nuggets are 14-6 ATS in their last 20 games vs. Southwest Division.
The UNDER is 4-1 in Denver's last 5 games overall.
