Connecticut Huskies at Louisville Cardinals (-3)

Connecticut is on the verge of being ranked No. 1 for the first time in three years. That likely won't make a difference to Louisville.

The second-ranked Huskies look for a 10th straight victory while trying to hand the surging No. 7 Cardinals their first loss in Big East play as the teams meet Monday night at Freedom Hall.

With current No. 1 Duke losing 70-68 at Wake Forest on Wednesday and third-ranked Pittsburgh falling 67-57 at Villanova the same night, Connecticut (20-1, 9-1) is likely to move into the top spot in the AP Top 25 for the first time since the 2005-06 season.

The Huskies, though, won't have much time to enjoy it as they head to Louisville (17-3, 8-0), the Big East co-leader which has also won nine in a row - highlighted by a 69-63 win over then-No. 1 Pittsburgh at home on Jan. 17.

Louisville, which shares the conference lead with Marquette, has won two of its last five games against the top-ranked team in the nation.

"Number 1 hasn't worked out so well for teams this year," UConn senior guard A.J. Price said. "We have a tough game (Louisville) coming up Monday, so not too much time to celebrate."

UConn is 4-2 all-time against Louisville and won 69-67 at home in the teams' only meeting last season. The schools have split two games played at Freedom Hall.

The Huskies, who are 10-0 away from home, are coming off their second-highest scoring game of 2008-09. Price had 19 points, Stanley Robinson added 18 and 7-foot-3 Hasheem Thabeet had 15, 11 rebounds and 10 blocks for his first career triple-double in Saturday's 94-61 rout of Providence for UConn, which hasn't lost since opening Big East play with a 74-63 home loss to then-No. 11 Georgetown on Dec. 29.

Boasting a 12-1 record at Freedom Hall, the Cardinals are wrapping up a three-game homestand, but played uneven in Saturday's 69-63 win over West Virginia.

Jerry Smith scored a season-high 20 points, but the Cardinals had their 20-point halftime lead trimmed to four with 2:16 left before regrouping.

"We fall in love with ourselves too much," said Louisville coach Rick Pitino, whose team overcame a season-high 26 turnovers. "In the long run, it's probably better we had a war down the stretch."

It was another in a list of tight conference wins for Louisville, which also needed overtime to beat then-No. 12 Notre Dame at home two days after winning 61-60 at then-No. 18 Villanova on Jan. 10.

                    Pick: Huskies

Butler Bulldogs at Wisconsin-Green Bay Phoenix (+1.5)

The Bulldogs will try to set the Horizon League record for consecutive victories on Monday night at the Resch Center as they open a three-game road trip against the Phoenix.

No. 13 Butler (19-1), which has won nine straight against Green Bay, improved to 10-0 in conference play for the first time on Friday with a 59-51 victory over Valparaiso. It was the Bulldogs' 11th win in a row overall and conference record-tying 21st straight victory. Green Bay won 21 consecutive games in the Midwestern Collegiate Conference from Feb. 18, 1995-Jan.4, 1997.

The Midwestern Collegiate Conference became the Horizon League prior to the 2001-02 season.

"I don't think we're going to throw our arms in the air and be thankful we've tied a record," said Butler coach Brad Stevens, whose team set a school record with a 17-1 start with its 68-59 win over the Phoenix on Jan. 22. "I think we'll go back and get ready for Green Bay."

The Bulldogs turned in another strong defensive performance in their most recent win, limiting Valparaiso to seven first-half field goals and 36.2 percent from the field. Butler is 11th in the nation in field goal defense at 37.6 percent, and third in Division I scoring defense at 55.4.

The Bulldogs, though, could be tested against a Green Bay team that leads the Horizon League with 72.2 points per game. The Phoenix (17-6, 9-2) are averaging 84.3 points and shooting 51.5 percent from the floor during their three-game winning streak.

Green Bay won its eighth straight home conference game on Saturday with an 87-68 victory over Loyola. Junior guard Troy Cotton hit 7-of-12 from 3-point range and scored 25 points for the second consecutive game. He went 2-of-2 from long distance and scored 13 in the Jan. 22 loss to the then-No. 16 Bulldogs.

                    Pick: Butler

Portland Trail Blazers at New Orleans Hornets [NBA | 8 PM ET]

Blazers: Portland brings a four-game winning streak into New Orleans following a 122-108 win over Utah on Saturday. The Blazers have won those four games by an average of 16.5 points and have not trailed by more than five points in any of them. “I’m happy that we controlled the game from the tip - we were probably the more physical and active team,” Portland leading scorer Brandon Roy said after beating the Jazz. “It felt good to beat them soundly. It didn’t come down to the last 4 minutes. We played well the entire game.”

Blazers are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 road games.
The UNDER is 9-0 in Portland's last 9 games as an underdog.

Key Injuries - G Steve Blake (shoulder) is day-to-day.

PROJECTED SCORE: 89 (UNDER - Total Play of the Day)

Hornets (-4, O/U 187): New Orleans will try to avoid losing three straight for the first time this season after falling to San Antonio on Saturday, 106-93. The Hornets got 38 points from point guard Chris Paul but committed 14 turnovers to suffer their second loss in as many nights. “We sort of got frustrated a little bit and said ‘darn’ and got two techs,” Paul said. “I’m serious, I said ‘darn.’ I mean, I guess that’s not what you should say.” New Orleans has won two of the three meetings with Portland so far this season.

Home team is 8-2 ATS in the last 10 meetings.
The UNDER is 10-2 in New Orleans' last 12 home games.

Key Injuries - G Morris Peterson (foot) is OUT.
C Tyson Chandler (ankle) is OUT.

#2 Connecticut at #7 Louisville [ESPN | 7 PM ET]

UConn: The Huskies are expected to be the new #1 team in the country by the time this game tips off, but that isn't necessarily a good thing. There have been three different #1 teams in the last three weeks, and the last two lost in their very next games. In fact, Pitt was also #1 before leaving Louisville with its first loss back on January 17th. “You don’t want to be No. 1 for a day,” UConn head coach Jim Calhoun said. “It’s just a number that goes by quickly. But if there are 343 teams playing in the country and at some point in the season, especially 21 games into the season - it’s nice. No more. No less.”

UConn is 8-3-1 ATS in its last 12 Monday games.
The UNDER is 7-3 in UConn's last 10 games overall.

                        Key Injuries - NONE

                        PROJECTED SCORE: 67

Louisville (-3, O/U 136): The Cardinals believe they are at their best when challenged by elite competition, and that's exactly what they'll get when the Huskies come to town. UConn is a perfect 10-0 away from home this season and 4-2 all-time vs. Louisville. The Cardinals did not handle a 20-point halftime lead well against West Virginia on Saturday, settling for an eventual 69-63 victory. “We fall in love with ourselves too much,” Louisville head coach Rick Pitino said. “In the long run, it’s probably better we had a war down the stretch.”

Louisville is 7-1 ATS in its last 8 games overall.
The OVER is 3-1 in Louisville's last 4 games overall.

                        Key Injuries - NONE

                        PROJECTED SCORE: 70

Kansas at Baylor [ESPN | 9 PM ET]

Kansas (-1, O/U 153): The Jayhawks have won six straight games since a 75-62 loss at Michigan State - all in Big 12 play. They are coming off a 66-61 home win against Colorado on Saturday to complete a season series sweep and have gone 3-0 on the road during that stretch. The Buffaloes did rally back from a 21-point deficit early in the second half to pull within two points, but they ended up losing for the 40th time in 41 meetings. That game ended a streak of five straight covers for Kansas.

Kansas is 7-2 ATS in its last 9 games overall.
The OVER is 3-1 in the last 4 meetings.

Key Injuries - C Cole Aldrich (nose) is probable.

PROJECTED SCORE: 80 (Side Play of the Day)

Baylor: The Bears are looking to end a three-game skid against another elite team from the Big 12. They have lost to Oklahoma, Texas and Missouri in the last three games, failing to cover each time. Defense has been the main reason for the losing streak, as Baylor has surrendered an average of more than 87 points during that stretch with all three games going OVER the total.

Baylor is 2-6 ATS in its last 8 games overall.
The OVER is 24-7 in Baylor's last 31 games overall.

                        Key Injuries - NONE

                        PROJECTED SCORE: 73
