Sorry for VCU last night, clawed back into the game only to give up a 15-3 run to start the 2nd half. 1-1 POD record after that mess. Looking to bounce back tonight in a big way.
Looking to make it 2 in a row with POD's after Oklahoma's win on Monday night. Tonight moving it to the SEC and rolling with:
POD: South Carolina -6
Vanderbilt is limping into this game, literally and figuratively. After starting the season 11-3 in non-conference play, Vandy has gotten off to a miserable 1-4 SU and 0-5 ATS start in SEC play, including 0-2 SU and ATS on road. In there last outing, Vandy got absolutely embarassed at home, 94-69 by Florida, a team South Carolina just beat at home. After that game, Vanderbilt coach Kevin Stallings had this to say, "We are a team badly damaged in the confidence department. We're badly damaged in the productivity department. We are not getting the play we need out of some key players." To make matters worse, star center and leading scorer, 6-11 Soph. AJ Ogilvy (15 ppg), is suffering from a heel injury, he is expected to play, but is not 100% and it has been evident in his recent play. After scoring in double figures in his first 15 games of the season, Ogilvy scored just 11 points total in Vandy's last 2 games (7 vs. Tenn and 4 vs. Fla) and only played 15 minutes in their last game vs Florida. Defensively, vandy has been terrible allowing their last 3 opponents to shoot 48%, 50%, and 57% after holding their previous 16 opponents to less than 45% shooting. In their 5 conference games, Vandy is averaging only 61 ppg on 39% shooting while allowing 70 ppg on 46% shooting. Vandy has also struggled on the road all season where they are both 1-3 SU and ATS. As an underdog, Vandy is 1-5 SU and ATS and only scores 64 ppg and allows 70 ppg.
Things won't get any better for Vanderbilt in South Carolina, where the Gamecocks are 12-1 SU and 2-0 ATS as a favorite of less than 10 points. In home games thus far, SC is averaging 80 ppg on 45% shooting and holds opposition to 64 ppg on 40% shooting. In home conference games, the Gamecocks are 3-0 SU and 2-1 ATS, scoring 73 ppg and allowing 65 ppg. The Gamecocks led by Jr. G Devan Downey (19.7 ppg), Sr. G Zam Fredrick (15.8 ppg), 6-7 Jr. F Dominique Archie (11.2 ppg, 7 rpg), and 6-7 Soph. F. Mike Holmes (11.1 ppg, 8.2 rpg), are riding high after wins against conference leading Flordia and Mississippi.
Vandy is 1-5 ATS as an underdog, 1-3 ATS in road games, 0-3 ATS off o loss to a conference rival, 0-2 ATS after failing to cover the spread in 3 or more consecutive games, 0-4 ATS when playing against a team with a winning record after 15 or more games, 1-5 ATS versus good offensive teams - scoring 77+ points per game, and 0-3 ATS versus good offensive teams - scoring 77+ points per game after 15+ games.
Things will go from bad to worse for Vandy tonight, when they run into a South Carolina team that is looking to avenge 2 SU losses from last season. I'll lay the points to the struggling Commodores here, as SC is playing great ball, especially at home and Vandy is on a downward spiral.
POD: South Carolina -6
Good Luck,
