I have a running superstition about Friday NCAA hoops (too much Ivy league in the months ahead), and nothing on that card really grabs me. NBA plays are rare for me, but I have spent quite awhile looking at the total history for the Heat and the Kings, and I have decided to make this my only play of the night.
Basically, both of these teams exist as low-to-mid range scoring teams, whose totals are often more a reflection of whom they play than of their own style of offense. What I mean by this is if the Heat play the Warriors, they will probably break the century mark, but when they played San Antonio on Monday, they managed 84.
Similarly, in Sacramento's last five games, neither the Kings nor their opponent reached 100 points in four of those games, with the one exception being the up-tempo game at Indiana, where the teams combined for a whopping 239 points. Similarly, Miami's highest scoring game in two weeks came on Monday, with a total of 205 points scored, but that was played at DENVER, where totals always climb.
This will not be a game of fast breaks, and not likely a game where 3 pointers are flying. If you take out a few of the aberrations, like playing at Indiana, Golden State, or Denver, the average total for these teams is significantly below this number, and I think this game will shape up as one in which the victor is the one team that reaches 90 points.
MIAMI/SACRAMENTO TOTAL UNDER 193
Good luck.
