Florida -4 over OK. I personally don't think this game is even gonna be close. All through the bowl season the Big 12 defenses have been exposed as nothing more than a joke. Texas Tech got lit up by Ole Miss, Missouri barely got by an average Northwestern team, Texas gave up 21 points to a one dimensional Ohio State team and Oregon bitch slapped Oklahoma State. Oklahoma's defense will fare no better against Florida. The SEC had 5 of the top 19 total defenses in the country this year, including Florida, while the Big 12 had no team among the top 49 teams in total defenses. OU ranks 58th in scoring defense, 63rd in total defense, 43rd in passing efficiency defense and 98th in passing yards defense. I think Tebow will light up the Oklahoma secondary.
Another factor is motivation. By now everyone has heard the comments made by the Oklahoma DB who said Tebow was the 4th best QB he has seen this year behind Bradford, Harrell and McCoy. Not that any additional motivation is needed but Tebow usually takes comments like that personally and makes the other team pay. Earlier this year LSU defensive tackle, Ricky Jean-Francois, commented a few days before their game with Florida that LSU was going to knock Tebow out of the game. Tebow blew off the comment and then accounted for 3 TDs in a 51-21 blowout. Last year Florida State LB Geno Hayes said that Tebow was "going down" in their annual rivalry game with Florida. Again Tebow blew off the comment and then lit FSU up for 262 passing yards, 89 rushing yards and accounted for 5 TDs in their win over FSU 45-12. While Tebow doesn't need any additional motivation to get up for the championship these comments will fuel his fire a little more.
Finally I like the experience factor many of the Florida players have from winning the national championship 2 years ago. Tebow won't be in awe of the hoopla surrounding the game and its importance like I believe Bradford will be. I think Florida wins this game handily by 14 or more points.
2008/2009 Bowl Record 11-4. Good luck to everyone no matter who you take.
