So you are telling me you rather kick a FG to tie ...Instead to win?

It is b/c of the extra point issue. Texas only had time for one score anyway, so 4 or 5 point lead is the same. Making it a 6 point game means Texas has to score a TD AND make the extra point. Missed extra points very rare, but anything can happen, a bad snap, shank, block, whatever. It was actually a very smart move.

OSU scored with 2:05 on the clock, and Tressel obviously thought there was simply not enough time for Texas to drive the field for a TD, and then have time for OSU to drive back down to get into FG range, so OSU kicking a FG for the tie or win wasn't a thought. Therefore, he felt going for two would at least force Texas to make the extra point should they score.

Under your scenario OSU kicks the extra point and makes it a 5 point game. So what? Do you think Texas is going to forget to go for two themselves to try and make it back to a FG game?

It was the right move...going up 5 doesn't help...being up 6 forces them to make an Xtra point. Harold B was right, imo.

Spreadman probably was like me and had a 2 team tease- Texas -2.5 and Over 45.5 because going for 2 screwed us and made it impossible to win. He makes it and Texas couldn't c-o-v-e-r the number. He misses and we can't c-o-v-e-r the total....

Spreadman, you watched enough football to know that being up 6 is better than 5. Duh
