  • Ohio State vs. Texas Opinions/Chatter

I just want to warn people that like Ohio State to be careful. The ONLY way I seeing them staying with Texas is if they actually open up the offense and use the wepons they have (Hartline, Robiskie, etc). If they still go with their BS gameplan this year they get down early and don't come back. If they want Pryor to be their QB they need to let him be a QB and not a glorified RB.

But anyway, let's hear some thoughts on the game. I'm thinking something like 31-17 Texas. GL all!
    O..H.........I..O!

    2010 NFL: 0-0

tough game in my opinion. Easy answer is OSU gets blown out. I mean these idiots at OSU haven't shown up for a bowl game since they destroyed Notre Dame like 3 years ago. However, the Ohio State defense should be able to keep them in the game. I mean they did a better job defensively vs penn state than the vaunted USC trojans defense.

Playing in the BIG 12 Texas has yet to play a defense of anywhere near the caliber of OSU. To go along with that Texas' defense isn't all that great either. However, it is usually teams with a good passing attack as opposed to a strong running attack that troubles Texas - and as we know OSU is more of the run oriented team.

With all that being said - give me OSU + the points. If for no other reason - one has to think these fools will eventually show up for a bowl game.

I really like Texas, but would be interested in what the Bowl dissapointment" record is against the spread.

Seems like most of the teams who got invited to lesser bowls neve come out to play. OSU may be more motivated, but you would think that Texas could blow them away. Still not sure which way to go.

Motivation often plays a big role in bowl games, and Ohio State has to be the more motivated team. I've gotta think the OSU players, especially the Juniors and Seniors, have to be motivated to show they aren't the bums they have showed the last couple years. Texas obviously feel like it got fucked, and it probably did. Are they pissed, or do they not give a shit? I've got OSU +18 to finish off the final part of a three team teaser, I sure as hell hope they can maintain that, although recent history isn't on their side.

Ha, that's funny. I also have them +18 on the back end of a tease. You're right about the motivation part though, and it's pretty hard to tell how motivated Texas will be. Mack Brown is an awful in-game coach in my opinion, but his teams always seem to be "up" for their games.

First off you must respect an Ohio St team that has played in two straight BCS NC games. Thats not something that you can easily serve up. I think that Texas will sell out to stop the run so if Pryor can put together a good passing game he should have alot of one on one coverage. However i think Texas has improved in the secondary having to play the B12 south has to work to their advantage. The only question i have is how good is Texas going to play? Especially considering how close they were to playing for the NC. Its going to take a great coaching effort from Mack Brown to get them to play to their max. I am going to take Texas because they can stop the run and i dont think Pryor can make enogh plays in the passing game for OSU to win. I think this is the big key because if they make a few of these plays early then the running game will open up. In that case OSU would not only cover but win the game outright.Again im taking Texas but only a medium wager.

I was thinking of a 7 point tease. Texas -1 and over 44. Is it just me or does this look way too easy? Starting to think this would be a trap...

One other thought worth mentioning on Texas' motivation. There is still an outside shot that they could split the national championship. I've heard many discuss a scenario that if Texas could blow out Ohio State, and Oklahoma just barely beats Florida, that some voters will vote for Texas as the NC. The thought being they both only have one loss, and Texas obviously beat Oklahoma straight up. Kirk Herbstreit was one that I read has already said in that scenario he would vote for Texas.

I don't think that is likely, but if Texas believes this at all it could really keep them dialed in.

all you have to think is that Texas is the real No 1 team in the country; they got fucked by the BCS BS standings...

And by the same token, one can say,

OSU playing in the BIG 10, has no where near played an offense like one from thje BIG 12.......

Why---do people have to chime in their biased opinions of the D in the BIG 12........Just state, Texas hasn't met a D as solid as OSu this year....why the darts always at other conferences......

OSU hasn't really faced a good offense like Texas this year.....NOTE...no reference from me re the lack of offense in the BIG 10.......

Maybe the BIG 10 lacks in Offenseive stats cause the D is good there, and by the same token, maybe the D in the Big 12 doesn't have good stats cause the POWERHOUSE offenses play there......

It balances out.....I said it the same way you did, except I didn't pin point a conference as being weaker......

This has been beat to dath for a whole season now.....

GL whichever way you guys go.......

I was fixing to reply to your previous post, when you replied here......

                          It indeed is a possibility......

                          Lets say

                          OU 24-23 over Fla

                          Texas 51-17 over OSU

Now neither score is likely, but stranger things have happened.....

Would leave OU, Texas, USC all with one loss, and UTAH with none.......

Texas having beat OU, the pollsters may just out em ahead of OU, and don't underestimate USC/UTAH jumping up.....also not likely......

Winner of the BCS Game will be #1.....
                          iF tEXAS WINS, THEY'LL BE # 2
If OSU wins, USC will be # 2.....IMO

This has been a crazy season.....nothings even close to being etched in stone with this fvked up system

                          BRING ON THE PLAYOFFS
