USC (6-1 SU/5-2 ATS) at WASHINGTON (4-3 SU/2-4-1 ATS)
The 5th-ranked Trojans are off a 45-14 dismantling of Notre Dame as -8½ point road chalks. QB Matt Leinart completed 26-of-34 passes for a career-high 351 yards and four touchdowns. The Trojans, who beat Notre Dame, 44-13 at the Coliseum last year, earned their first win in South Bend since 1997. The USC offense gained 340 yards in the opening half and carried a 28-14 lead into the locker room. When it was all said and done, USC held edges in total "O" (554-277) and first downs (29-17). Washington pulled the upset last week in a 38-17 win at 22nd-ranked Oregon State as +10 point underdogs. QB Cody Pickett completed 19-of-40 passes for 285 yards and three touchdowns for the Huskies, who snapped a two-game slide and beat Oregon State for the 25th time in the last 27 meetings. Charles Frederick finished with 101 yards on four punt returns, 54 yards on three kickoff returns and caught nine passes for 216 yards to set a school record with 371 all-purpose yards. Washington was outgained in total "O" 390-374, but capitalized on four Oregon State turnovers (1 fumble, 3 interceptions). USC enters this one with the 26th rated "O" in the land with a 426 ypg average, while the Huskies rank 42nd with a 404 ypg average. On defense, USC ranks 35th (334 ypg), while Washington ranks 30th (328 ypg). USC ranks 12th in the nation in turnover margin, while Washington ranks 90th in the land. USC is 7-3 ATS the last ten meetings with the Huskies and 14-5 ATS when playing on artificial turf against conference foes. Washington comes in on a current 4-11-1 ATS run in their last 16 games over all. The 'dog in this series is 12-4-1 the last 17 meetings. However, the Trojans won last year 41-21 as -7½ point home favorites. USC has a very balanced offensive attack (average 208 rush yards and 315 pass yards last two weeks) and should continue to keep rolling in this one. Can't read too much into Washington's win at Oregon State last week as the Beavers basically self-destructed.
