  • New Year's Eve Bowl Picks

Armed Forces Bowl, Fort Worth, Texas. Weather Forecast calls for Sunny and temps in the mid 50s. Playing Houston -3 (Bought the hook). Hard to beat the same team twice when the teams are evenly matched. Navy-Wake Forest proved that in the first bowl game of the year, as did Boston College/Va. Tech. B.C. won in the regular season and Va. Tech in the ACC title game. These 2 teams met in September in Dallas where Air Force won. The game was played in the rein following Hurricane Ike but Houston still threw for 362 yards. Air Force can't stop the pass and Houston can't stop the run. I think this is a high scoring game and Houston pulls away late for the cover.

Sun Bowl, El Paso, Texas. Sunny, temps in mid-50s. Playing Pitt.+ 2. This is Pitt's first bowl game under Wannsted. Pitt has won 4 of their last 5 and went 7-2 this year against bowl teams. They played a lot of good teams and their SOS is 15th in the nation. Oregon State is a totally different team without the Rodgers brothers. James is definitely out and Jaquizz is listed as questionable. However, I doubt if he plays and if he does I question how effective he will be since he will be playing with a cracked shoulder blade. Interesting stat is the underdog has covered 9 of the last 10 Sun Bowls.

I will pass on the remaining bowls. Happy New Year to everyone and lets all make some $.
