Humanitarian Bowl. Nevada -2 over Md. Posted these comments last week but Maryland is not motivated to be playing in this game. They think they got hosed by being sent to Boise. I think in college football, moreso than any other sport, emotion goes a long way in who wins or who loses. Maryland has been a giant question mark all year. They have won 4 games against opponents ranked in the top 25 but lost games to Virginia 31-0 and Middle Tennessee State also beat them. Maryland definitely plays up to or down to the opposition. Maryland is in a no win situation since they are viewed as the superior team by most people. If they win everyone says hey no big deal, it is only Nevada. If the lose everyone says how can you lose to Nevada.

On the other hand Nevada is greatly motivated by the fact that they are looked at as an inferior team from an inferior conference (ACC V WAC). The chance to knock off a superior opponent greatly helps in their recruiting. In addition Nevada is familiar playing on the smurf turf and will likel;y have greater fan support since Maryland only sold about 800 tickets for the game.

In addition Nevada has the second rated rushing offense behind Navy in the country. Maryland's defense has had trouble against good running teams. Maryland's offensive line has had problems protecting the QB all year, which may be a problem since Nevada's defense is ranked 8th in the country in sacks. I think it all adds up to a Nevada win.

    2. Texas Bowl Rice -3 over Western Michigan, Interesting stat I found is that the facorite has won all 7 Texas Bowls straight up and is 4-1-2 against the spread. Teams from Texas are 4-1 in the bowl straight up and 3-1-1 against the spread. This is a home game for Rice. I am going to lay the 3 but I may put half of the bet on the ML to be safe.

    3. Holiday Bowl. Oregon + 2.5 over Ok. State. Ok. State started off 7-0 but has lost 3 of their last 5 games. Oregon has won 5 of their last 6. BTW the average total for the last 8 Holiday Bowls is 63.3. Big 12 teams are 2-6 against the spread in Holiday Bowls. It boils down to whether Oregon's defense can stop the pass or Ok. State's defense can stop the run.

Bowl Record is 5-0. Good luck to everyone .
