  • Week 17 suicide pool

I'm one of 2 people left out of 175 in an elimination pool. Just have to pick a team to win this weekend in the NFL. Wanted to get the opinion on the forum if anyone had any information. Here are the 3 games in order that I'm considering, unless there are others I should look at.

    1) Atlanta vs StL-Atlanta can still win the division and a first round bye with a win and Carolina loss. They should be up for this game even after knowning that have clinched a playoff birth. StL has packed it in and playing for nothing and just wants to end the season. Atlanta should be able to run the ball against this terrible run defense. Just fired GM also.

    2) Balt vs Jack-Balt still needs a win but may have a let down after the Dallas win. The defense should be able to shut down Jacksonville, may be a tighter game than the above game. Jacksonville has mailed it in on this year also

    3) TB vs Oak-TB needs a win to stay alive but Oak last week showed they still have life which makes me worried.

-Thanks in advance for any advice

Go with the best team of the three. Ravens

Atlanta worries me. They already clinched a playoff spot.

              good luck!!!

I would say Tampa or Atlanta....I lean Tampa cause they still HAVE to win, and it's tough for a West coast team to win on the east.

ATLANTA FOR SURE. Look, Atlanta is the only team that you really know what you are going to get. There are very consistent and they still have a lot to play for. They know if they win and the Saints beat the Panthers they get the #2 seed, which is HUGE. 1st round bye, home game, etc. Don't overthink this one. Baltimore, Oakland, Tampa, and Jax are are very unpredictable teams.

I guess the question is what do you guys do if you both win or both lose? If all you have to do is win your game, I'd strongly consider taking the Falcons and laying a grand on St. Louis +14. Good chance you can with both, ubt you are at least covered some if the unthinkable happens.

I know this may not be the most "popular answer" however, you could hedge another game by playing the moneyline on another game (if its available with your teams you have left to play) and play the dog for $1500 @ +200 or better guaranting you a profit of $2700 to $3000(64% to 75% of the original prize with no downside).

I know many here would not hedge but it is an option if you need cash.

For I assume a $25 entry fee (175 X 25) and $4200 pot, tell the other guy to pick the same team as you for the remainder of the year and tell him you guys should just split it down the middle. $2100 is not chump change for a $25 entry.

                      If that fails, TB
                      2012 - 2013 NCAAF

                      21 - 20 - 0

                      2012 - 2013 NFL

                      14 - 10 - 1

To clarify if the two of us win we split the pot, if one wins the other gets $4200. If one of us loses there is a secondary pot for those who have lost 1 game. That pot is $1500 but 15 still alive there. I will get something, obviously $2100 much better than ~$100. A hedge isn't a bad idea especially against the point spread.

IMO all 3 teams should win but the NFL is screwy the way things happen. Appreciate the input.

FIRST thing I would do is contact the guy and work some form of spiltting the pot no matter what happens.175 people and $4,200 in the pot,you can't have much more than $20-$25 invested.
If he's not up for it then I would probably take Atlanta.

That would be nice but I have no idea who the person is or how to get in contact with him. I'm only invested for $40 and if I lose should get at least $100 from the secondary pool but that no $2100 or $4200!
