On the surface my play looks like a big mistake. But read on and then decide if you agree this play is special. The LA Lakers are 12 POINT ROAD FAVORITES at Memphis. Now ask yourself if you would...........................
Lay 12 points with a team that has not covered the spread in any of their last 9 games. That's right, LA is 0-9 ATS their last 9 games.
Lay 12 points with a team that since Nov 18th, is 2-10 ATS as a DD Favorite.
Lay 12 points against a team that has historically given the favorite troubles. Memphis, the past three years, is 5-2 ATS and since 1996, are 26-16 ATS when playing the Lakers. Just one more example of the Lakers playing down to the level of their competition.
And lastly, the Lakers are in a sandwich after playing Miami and Orlando with New Orleans and Boston next. This is also the Lakers third game in four nights and tomorrow, at New Orleans, will be their fourth game in five nights. I can see the Lakers resting their starters for most of the fourth quarter so they won't be too tired against New Orleans tomorrow.
Last I looked 67% of the public are on the Lakers, which is one more good reason to make Memphis a Special Play tonight.
