  • Monday's Rebound Plays

    An absolutley dreadful day yesterday.
    0-8 in NFL Plays (-9.2)
    0-1 in NBA Plays (1.1)
I pray no-one follwed any, if so my apologies.
And to top the day off my wifes 2001 Pont. GrandPrix GT caught fire in the engine compartment. Appears to be a total loss. Thank god nobody was hurt and the car was parked at a pet store where they were only in there for about 5-10 mins. before someone noticed the flames coming out from around the hood. Even more thankfull it didn't happen when she parked it in the garage which is attatched to the house. Did some searching online and come to find out it's happened to around 250 other people. About the same odds as going 0-8 Well enough of my problems here's my plays

    (701-02)GS/Magic OVER 219
    (711)Raptors +2.5
    (705)LAL -12

    7 Pt. Teaser -130
    (131)GB +11
    UNDER 47.5

Gl Liberty On the action Sorry to hear about your car burning up Even better to hear there was no one hurt What caused the fire? Reason why I ask is I have a Grand Prix SE with over 175000 Miles on it I use as my winter car and my other Pontiac was a Bonneville that I owened many years ago had 170000 miles on it when I got rid of it never had a problem with any of them

                        Thanks for the thoughts.
Problem seems to be with the 3800 Series II engines 1998-2003 GM recalled the turbocharged models GranPrix GTP. But never the GT or SE models. My car had 140000 miles on it and had it since new I personally changed the oil every 3-5000 miles. Brakes, axle shafts, trans service I did myself. Basically all routine maintanence I did myself. The only time it went to the garage was for State inspections and had cat convertor go bad. Which being an emission problem the dealer took care of. So back to your original question why. Seems they develop an oil leak on the front bank valve cover or oil fill area, drips onto the hot exhaust manifold. Creates a small fire like a pilot light, shut the car down and poof. Naturally your first instinct is to open the hood to put it out but that only gives it oxygen to really flare. Luckily there was a bystander with a fire ext.
