You heard wrong. They're schedule isn't even the toughest in their division. Compare their schedule to the schedule of Cincy.Originally posted by live jive View Postalso i thought i heard today their schedule is gonna be toughest all time for a season
Cincy has played Pitt twice while Pitt has played Cincy twice.

I will say that in the case of the Yankes and other teams who have players who are vastly overpaid, that sometimes complacency can override experience, and that players who have less talent and are paid less may be hungrier and thus may do better in the playoffs.Originally posted by Three Jack View PostI stopped believing in the experince card when Detroit beat the Yanks in '06...so overrated. Look at all of the major sports over the last 5 yrs and who won championships and it proves that experience is overrated.
In the case of the Patriots, I think (assuming they make playoffs) they will be particularly motivated to play well after what happened in Superbowl and with a great coach, I give them a lot better chance in a one game scenario rather than a 2 of 3 one.
No. on paper they are not as good as last year especially defensively and without Brady, but I think they well at least accord themselves well in the playoffs because of their experience and having one of the best coaching staffs in the league.Last edited by savage1; 12-15-2008, 09:22 PM.

How did experience do for the Lakers last year? The Red Sox verse TB? The Pats last year? And thats just the last three major titles.... OVERRATED. Of course it means nothing when it relates to the NYY in your mind...but how did they do in '01 vs ARI, '03 vs FLA and '04 vs the Sox? They were far from complacent in those years.Originally posted by savage1 View PostI will say that in the case of the Yankes and other teams who have players who are vastly overpaid, that sometimes complacency can override experience, and that players who have less talent and are paid less may be hungrier and thus may do better in the playoffs.

Re-read my previous post. I am saying complacency and being financially happy can actually override the urgency to win.Originally posted by Three Jack View PostHow did experience do for the Lakers last year? In the case of the Yankees I think that not only are/were they overpaid but the team chemistry stinks;once thing Cashman ner has learned is that building a championhip team is a lot more than simply assembling the best players on paper(yeah i know team chemistry is overrated also lol).

You're still wearing your Homer Glasses.Originally posted by savage1 View PostI think they well at least accord themselves well in the playoffs because of their experience and having one of the best coaching staffs in the league.
Most of the playoff bound teams in the AFC are very well coached. Fisher, Dungy and Tomlin.
While I think Bill B is a very good coach he doesn't deserve the genius title. He's not as great as a coach without Brady. Prior to Brady, Bill was an average coach.

Do you really think complacency plays a roll in the playoffs? I agree it does during a long season. The playoffs are often the best teams with the best players.Originally posted by savage1 View PostRe-read my previous post. IMO complacency only is a factor for the lower seeds that are happy just to make the playoffs. Those teams often make a quick exit.
Savage, why do you compare everything to the Yanks? All of sports don't revolve around you beloved Sox and hated Yanks. Prior to this season the Yanks made the playoffs for 12 or 13 straight seasons. They failed to win the WS that last 8 or 9 years because they had inferior pitching. It had NOTHING to do with complacency.

You are using one team in your example. 3J used 3 from the more recent past.Originally posted by savage1 View PostRe-read my previous post. I am saying complacency and being financially happy can actually override the urgency to win.

I read your post, Savage...the 2001 Yanks were still built around the team that won 4 championships in 5 yrs. You want to discount '03 and '04, fine...but they showed ZERO complanceny and being financially happy when Aaron Fucking Boone circled the bases and the knocked the Sox out in game 7. Did they all of a sudden become complacent and financially happy in the 3 days prior to the WS?Originally posted by savage1 View PostRe-read my previous post. If expereince is so important, why was it not a factor in the three series mentioned that were played this year? Were the Pats, Lakers and Red Sox financially happy and complacent?
I used to be a big proponent of experience, but I have learned better. And has a Sox fan, you should have too!Three Jack's Record http://www.bettorschat.com/forums/sh...10#post1323910

Isn't healthy Brandon Jacobs an oxymoron... I mean the Giants are not number one... Burress' absence is giantic... no pun intended... Okay, pun was intentional... And their pass rush, what happened to it... All teams have to do is stack the box. There's no outside threat... uh, they have the wrong Steve Smith and what's a Dominic Hixon??? Eli is not the same quarterback.Originally posted by kbsooner21 View PostCarolina or NY Giants with a healthy Brandon Jacobs
Panthers are peaking... but it's either the Steelers or the Cowboys... Cowboys D is terrific... They put it on both the Steelers and the Giants... and I don't have to comment on the Steelers D do I...
Tenn is mehhhhhhhhhhhh... Great coach though!2019 SEASON
