I went 2-0 last weekend in CFB, winning a 2* when Purdue covered by 41 points and a 1* on Rice, another blowout winner. Four dogs today as I try to knock out some lines that look way too fat.
1* Rice +3
How in the world can Rice be a dog here? They're concluding their best season in ages and are going for their sixth win in a row. Their offense is unstoppable right now---209 points in the last five games! Houston has a big offense too but can't stop anybody. Note: both teams are in Houston and while the game is "at" Rice, there's no real home field advantage.
1* SMU +15 1/2
SMU has struggled to adapt from their option offense to June Jones' run and shoot. But they've played well in every home game this year and were competitive against decent teams like Memphis, Houston and Tulsa. Southern Miss has improved as the season has gone along and they have a good defense but this is too many points against a team that will want to end its season with its first victory over a Div.1 opponent.
1* Auburn +14 1/2
There's a good chance Alabama will be looking ahead to Florida here and that could be a disaster in a big rivalry game. Auburn was thought to be a real good team this year but has had a very disappointing season. They can make up for all of it by giving their in-state rival their first loss of the year. Auburn has a very good defense and Bama never really blows anybody out. I look for a much closer game than most expect.
1* Notre Dame +32
I am very open to the possibility that I am reading this all wrong but I just don't think USC is that much better than ND. The Pac 10 is VERY weak this year but the only teams USC beat by 32 in conference play were miserable Wash and Wash State. Notre Dame's alumni are nuts and they maybe stupid enough to fire Weis but ND is still a team with a winning record and an oppportunity to salvage its season by pulling off the shocker here. I just think the line is too high.
