  • Special Situation Play -- [10-5 ytd]

My last Special Situation Play was an NBA play last Friday when Milwaukee won by 18 as a 4.5 point favorite. Today's play is an NFL play with two situations, which alone happen quite often but together make for a special play.

We have Arizona playing at Philly. That means Arizona had to fly across country West to East. Also, the game time temp at Philly is forecast to be 41 degrees, dropping slightly during the game to 39. That makes Arizona a warm weather team playing in 40 degree weather.

One more reason to play Philly is because Arizona is not as good as their record. They are 7-4, but only two wins were against teams (Dallas, Buffalo) with a winning record and they beat a Dallas team without Romo.. Two wins over the 49ers, and wins over Miami, Seattle and St. Louis, don't make Arizona a top team. Sure Philly has been playing bad, but McNabb and Westbrook are back starting and I look for Philly to easily cover the small number.

One last reason, that we are all seeing today and have seen in the past, is home teams seem to win and cover on holidays. Two nice situations with other reasons

MAKE PHILLY -3 THE PLAY TONIGHT

Happy bird day to you Sandy!

Congrats on a stellar SSP record!

I have the same thought but like more points as the NFL is like a beer industry with NBA FIXED LITE. Here is a couple of #'s to help you out too as the West to East number is insane.

I have the Eagles as most on the FOX NFL group all have the Cardinals.

          10 Point Teaser (3 Teams) 11/27/08 00:18 ET
          Result: Pending

          Cardinals(Arizona)
          Eagles(Philadelphia) 11/27/08(20:20 ET)
          Eagles(Philadelphia) +7 (even)

          Seahawks(Seattle) 9
          Cowboys(Dallas) 34 11/27/08(16:35 ET)
          Cowboys(Dallas) -2.5

          Titans(Tennessee) 47
          Lions(Detroit) 10 11/27/08(12:40 ET)
          Titans(Tennessee) -1.5

Here is just ONE article on the futility of West to East teams. IT'S GOTTA GET A WIN SOMETIME THOUGH! LET'S SEE HOW BAD MCBAD CAN BUMBLE THE EAGLES TONIGHT?

Note that BOTH in Week 11 lost as well!!

ALSO LOOK AT PLAYING MICH ST -6 2ND HALF AS THEY ARE DOWN 3 TO THE TERPS but are coming hard on a very young Mary team to end the first.

REMEMBER THE CASH MACHINE THAT CBB IS!

BEST TO YOU AND ALL ON THE SITE for the Holidays...............GOLDV

This below is from the NFL FANHOUSE WEBSITE!

A few weeks ago, I wrote that western teams were 0-9 when they travel to play a team in the Eastern Time Zone. Since then, the Raiders lost in Baltimore, the Cardinals lost in Carolina and the Seahawks lost in Miami to make that record 0-12.

That doesn't include the Chargers loss to the Saints in London two weeks ago.

In my first post, there were a lot of theories to why this is happening. It cannot be the travel alone; Eastern teams are 7-7 this season when they head west. I think it is because the mental clock of the western teams are screwy. Eleven of the 12 games were played at 1:00 p.m. ET which would feel like 10:00 a.m. to someone living on the west coast.

One commenter plainly stated the obvious: the western teams suck. The Cardinals, Seahawks, 49ers, Raiders, and Chargers are a combined 16-29 (the Cards and Niners play tonight, giving one of them a victory and the other a loss). Of those 16 wins, five were against one of the other western teams. Five more were against the Rams, Chiefs or Lions ... who are 2-7, 1-8 and 0-9, respectively.

This in an interesting trend with a few more test samples to watch:

Week 11: Oakland at Miami, 1:00 p.m. ET
Week 11: San Diego at Pittsburgh, 4:15 p.m. ET
Week 13: Arizona at Philadelphia, 8:15 p.m. ET
Week 13: San Francisco at Buffalo, 1:00 p.m. ET
Week 15: San Francisco at Miami, 1:00 p.m. ET
Week 16: Arizona at New England, 1:00 p.m. ET
Week 16: San Diego at Tampa Bay, 8:15 p.m. ET
Week 17: Oakland at Tampa Bay, 1:00 p.m. ET

Now looking at the list and you would think that the home teams ... all in the eastern time zone ... would be favored. In all those games, only the Cardinals trip to Philly features the western team with a better record.

Also interesting is that there are two night games and one 4:15 p.m. game. If the western teams can win a couple of those games it would bring evidence to the game times being a factor in the trend. However, one of those night games (Arizona at Philadelphia) comes after a short week. Arizona would have hosted the Giants on Sunday and then travel to Philly for the Thanksgiving night game on Thursday.
I am NOT schizophrenic......and NEITHER am I! Just paranoid that fear may overcome my insanity!

                      Now 11-5 YTD

Thanks all for the nice comments. Hope more did follow and make some extra money. Glad I was able to see your comments Kapt. and I do appreciate them. I had posted the play and left right away to be with family before they ate all the good stuff. It was a nice holiday this year and Philly made it even better, but I will admit, I made a medium FIRST HALF play on Detroit based on their fast starts and then cruddy finishes. Thanks to Detroit, I think this was the first time in a long time I watched the parade with the big ballons because it was sickening watching Detroit.

GoldVike. Nice holiday surprise seeing your post. I do wonder how you are doing. As usual, your insights are always right and very helpful. Hope to see you around for awhile.
